Liberal Professor Bans Students From Using Fox News As A Source: It ‘Makes Me Cringe’

Indoctrinate them when they're young, naive and basically don't know any better: it's the liberal way:
While it’s not shocking that a journalism professor would ban students from citing news sources that are not credible, it is eyebrow-raising that one of those sources would be Fox News. In a copy of a syllabus obtained by Fox, Stephanie Wolfe, a visiting professor of journalism at West Liberty University in West Virginia, banned her students from citing Fox because she finds it cringe-worthy.

In the syllabus, the Wolfe banned The Onion and Fox News. “Please do not subject me to this biased news station,” Wolfe wrote. “I would almost rather you print off an article from The Onion.”

The university’s president, Robin Capehart, did not appear to agree with Wolfe’s decision when asked for comment.

“One of our values at West Liberty is to encourage students to go out and inquire and gather information and look at as many different sources as possible on any side, before you reach your opinion,” Capehart told a local West Virginia news outlet. “Any attempt to limit the breadth of a student’s ability to investigate is obviously something at which we have a concern.”

Professor Cornel West: Obama Is A ‘War Criminal’ Like Nixon And Bush

Mediaite.com:
Princeton University Professor Cornel West severely criticized President Barack Obama on Thursday while he co-hosted the Tavis Smiley radio show. West said that Obama’s recently uncovered legal justification for attacks on American citizens in league with Al Qaeda amounted to war crimes. Obama is, like his Republican predecessors Richard Nixon and George W. Bush, a war criminal, West said.

“Your thoughts on this so-called license to kill?” Smiley asked West.

“The chickens are coming home to roost,” West replied. “We’ve been talking about this for a good while, the immorality of drones, dropping bombs on innocent people, it’s been over 200 children so far. These are war crimes.”

“I think we have to be very honest, let us not be deceived — Nixon, Bush, Obama, they’re war criminals,” West continued. “They have killed innocent people in the name of the struggle for freedom, but they’re suspending the law, very much like Wall Street criminals. The law is suspended for them, but the law applies for the rest of us.”

West highlighted a double standard in conclusion by saying that, if he or Smiley were to conduct themselves as Obama has, they would be sent to prison.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia: State Of The Union A ‘Childish Spectacle’

Mediaite.com:
Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia did not attend the State of the Union on Tuesday night. Instead, he delivered his own talk where he was asked by National Public Radio’s Nina Totenberg for his thoughts on a number of issues including the modern conventions surrounding the constitutionally-mandated presidential address to Congress regarding the state of the nation. Scalia scoffed at what the State of the Union address has become, calling it a “childish special.”

“It has turned into a childish spectacle. I don’t want to be there to lend dignity to it,” Scalia said with what The Huffington Post described as a “certain amount of mischief.”

Scalia is not the first conservative to express reservations about how the State of the Union address has developed an almost monarchical pageantry.

National Review’s Charles W. Cook said that the State of the Union has grown into something “inappropriate” for a constitutional republic. The format of the address, in which a president addresses two co-equal branchs of government with a tone and style that is anything but humble, has evolved into something the founders would almost certainly be offended by.

“The State of the Union speech is unbecoming of a republic, and, in our media age, what poor arguments once struck in its favor have been dissolved by the ubiquity of the executive,” Cook wrote, after detailing the case against an address to a joint session of Congress first made by Thomas Jefferson. “The State of the Union address should be relegated to writing once again.”

Idiot Liberal "Journalist" Suzi Parker Erroneously Reports That Sarah Palin Joined Al Jazeera America Network

TheBlaze.com:
After parting ways with Fox News Channel, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will continue to reach out to Americans as a contributor for Al Jazeera English, according to Washington Post contributor Suzi Parker.

“Late last week Al Jazeera America announced the former vice-presidential candidate would be joining their news network,” she writes.

There’s just one problem with Miss Parker’s “scoop”: It’s 100 percent bogus. Her entire story is based on a fake report from the parody website The Daily Currant, the same site responsible for the “Ann Coulter Refuses to Board Airplane With Black Pilot” story that sparked so much hatred from the left.

Apparently, it didn’t occur to the author of “Sex in the South: Unbuckling the Bible Belt” that a “news” site with stories such as “Mugabe Bans the Color White,” “Cory Booker Gives CPR to Random Person at Super Bowl,” “Glenn Beck Calls 911 After Accidentally Eating Halal Pizza,” and “Vladimir Putin Kills Grizzly Bear With Bare Hands” could, you know, be fake.

But perhaps having filed the Palin story under “Too Good To Check,” Parker embraced the idea of the former vice presidential candidate moving to al-Jazeera and dove headfirst into explaining the dangers of mixing celebrity with politics.

“The Sarah Palin Story is a cautionary tale about what can happen when politics and celebrity meet,” she writes.

“Fame, not legislating, is clearly what Palin still seeks. She had to be at least a bit giddy last month when actress Julianne Moore won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Palin in the HBO miniseries ‘Game Change,’” she adds.

She goes on to cite Palin’s “interview” with The Daily Currant.

“As you all know, I’m not a big fan of newspapers, journalists, news anchors and the liberal media in general,” Palin supposedly said. “But I met with the folks at Al-Jazeera and they told me they reach millions of devoutly religious people who don’t watch CBS or CNN. That tells me they don’t have a liberal bias.”

Parker couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mock Palin.

“Ironically, Fox News recently called Al Jazeera ‘an anti-American terror mouthpiece,’” Parker notes. “Bless her heart, is Palin trying her best to stay relevant while her 15 minutes fades into the political history books?”

What’s odd about the Parker SNAFU, as Mediaite’s Noah Rothman notes, is that her story includes numerous links and citations. So how did she miss the fact that The Daily Currant is a gag website during her research?

Anyway, it wasn’t long before the Internet informed Parker and the Washington Post that their story was less than accurate. They quickly issued a “correction” and scrubbed any mention of The Daily Currant.

Rush Limbaugh Rips Lack Of Coverage Of Chris Dorner’s ‘Left-Wing Ties’: ‘The Fact That He’s Black Is A Factor’

Mediaite.com:
As the manhunt for murder suspect and ex-LAPD officer Chris Dorner continues, Rush Limbaugh weighed on the issue on Monday. Hitting those who have asserted that Dorner makes some valid points in his manifesto, Limbaugh noted that race is a factor.

“Despite the murders,” Limbaugh noted, some (like Steve Roberts, whom he named) have insisted there’s “intelligence…at work here, and there is racism in the LAPD…this guy’s got historical sensibility.”

“Look, the fact that he’s black is a factor here,” Limbaugh asserted bluntly. “I’m sorry, but what else would explain this? What else would excusing this — or, if not excusing it, relegating the murder aspect of what the guy’s doing to secondary status, and that the primary thing we must see is his intellect.”

He then went on to point to the New Yorker‘s Ryan Lizza noting during a TV appearance with Howard Kurtz that there’s “a kernel of truth” to the criticism. “Sometimes the media does have a hair trigger when you find out a murder suspect does have ties to, say, the Tea Party or some radical right group,” he said. “So I can understand why there’s some sensitivity on the right to this.”

“The hypocrisy is the least of it,” Limbaugh remarked. They simply don’t see that they’re ignoring Dorner’s “left-wing ties” — even though Dorner “wants the approval of liberals!” A direct tie is simply being ignored, he continued.

With that, he went on to hit Charlie Sheen for the message he sent to Dorner via TMZ (after Sheen saw that he was mentioned in Dorner’s manifesto). Going past Sheen’s publicity grab, Limbaugh added that, to some, he’s fighting a race war. That’s what makes him “an acclaimed hero to people.”
