Jon Corzine's MF Global Firm Fires 1,066 Workers

This is from the guy Obama and the Left fought to get re-elected in New Jersey back in 2009:
Some MF Global Inc. employees fired in New York and Chicago learned of their fate from news reports that the trustee liquidating the broker-dealer had decided to terminate all 1,066 of them, according to three people familiar with the matter.

Trustee James Giddens distributed a statement yesterday announcing the firings at the unit of bankrupt MF Global Holdings Ltd. It was reported by the news media before many employees were notified, said one person familiar with the release who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly about it. Two employees who declined to be named because they said it may damage their job prospects also said they heard of the firings through the media.

“We were well into the process of notifying employees and were attempting to personally reach as many employees as possible when the release went out,” said Kent Jarrell, a spokesman for Giddens. Tiffany Galvin, a spokeswoman for MF Global, declined to comment on the trustee’s decision.

MF Global Holdings filed for bankruptcy Oct. 31 after a $6.3 billion bet on the bonds of some of Europe’s most indebted nations prompted regulator concerns and a credit rating downgrade. Giddens, overseeing the liquidation of the bankrupt company’s brokerage unit, is managing the subsidiary’s wind-down under the Securities Investor Protection Act.

Bill O’Reilly Panel: Is Occupy Wall Street ‘A Destructive Farce With No Real End Game’?

Mediaite.com:
With the increased number of assaults and criminal events being reported at Occupy events across the country, many are beginning to wonder whether the message of being aware of income disparities is being drowned out by people who do not share those core convictions. On The O’Reilly Factor last night, host Juan Williams debated a panel on the merits of the occupying going on, suggesting that maybe “attracting people who are involved in nihilism” wasn’t the best way to spread a political message.

Williams turned to his panel– Democratic strategist Tara Dowdell and Republican strategist Ford O’Connell– for their takes, and Dowdell was adamant in that the message and issue they were attempting to bring to the fore was important enough to pay attention to. “We should not lose sight of the important issues that they’re raising awareness about,” she noted. O’Connell disagreed, arguing that the group had become “a destructive farce with no real end game,” and that the lack of policing was making their point appear less legitimate. Williams agreed– even if the ideas were valid, he asked, “what about the violence?”

Dowdell replied that the people causing problems were the minority– “you have some bad apples… but the overwhelming amount of people are there for the right reason.” She added that “these are city settings so you have people coming to the protests that have nothing to do with the protests.” That latter point was one which O’Connell used to his advantage, asking “is this the best way to make your point about income inequality, by sitting in public spaces and basically causing mayhem?”

California Public Schools Allow Porn Star Sasha Grey To Read To Kids

My guess this was sponsored from same filthy leftwing, no-value-having pols and advocates that fought to pass "gay history" being taught in Cali earlier this year. It's no secret that liberals want to destroy Christianity with their sick and immoral ways and there's no better way to do that then by corrupting the minds of innocent children:
Some parents have filed complaints with the Parent-Teacher Association after a former adult film star said she read to children in a classroom at a Los Angeles County elementary school.

Sasha Grey, a 23-year-old ex-porn actress who has appeared in mainstream shows like HBO's "Entourage," was a guest earlier this month at Compton's Emerson Elementary School for Read Across America Day.

Grey tweeted Nov. 2 that she spent the day reading to students in the first and third grades.

KTLA-TV quoted parents questioning whether it was appropriate to have Grey at the school. Parent Dudley Wheaton wondered why the school couldn't find a fireman or a police officer to read to students.

Grey has not appeared in porn films in over two years. She has been a regular on "Entourage" and appeared in the 2009 film "The Girlfriend Experience."

Man Shot on Plaza Near Occupy Oakland Encampment

Can't recall any sexual assaults or persons being shot at any Tea Party rallies:
A man was shot Thursday near the Oakland encampment where anti-Wall Street protesters have been occupying for the last month.

The shooting happened just before 5 p.m. on the edge of the plaza outside Oakland City Hill. The Occupy Oakland encampment sits in the middle of the plaza.

Paramedics on the scene were tending the bleeding man, whose condition wasn't immediately known. Police were interviewing witnesses and trying to contain a crowd of protesters who had tried to prevent television cameramen from taking video.

It also wasn't immediately known if the victim or his assailants were connected to the protest.

The shooting comes a day after a group of Oakland city and business leaders held a news conference demanding the removal of the encampment, saying that it has hurt downtown businesses and has continued to pose safety concerns.

Many protesters fear police will eventually move forward with another early morning raid to remove them. A tear gas-filled clash between demonstrators and police on Oct. 25 resulted in more than 100 arrests and left an Iraq War vet with a serious brain injury.

Mayor Jean Quan allowed the protesters to return to the encampment the day after that raid. The camp has since grown to about 180 tents.

But tensions and safety concerns have resurfaced in recent says, and on Wednesday, Quan asked members of the camp to show respect to the people of Oakland by peacefully leaving.

Sean Hannity Grills Gloria Allred Over Herman Cain Sexual Harassment Claim

Mediaite.com:
Celebrity attorney Gloria Allred visited the set of Sean Hannity‘s Fox News program to discuss her client Sharon Bialek‘s much-publicized sexual assault allegations against Herman Cain.

RELATED: Numbers Don’t Lie: Gloria Allred Gets More TV Airtime Than Her Client, Sharon Bialek

Hannity began by asking Allred whether the possibility of a book deal in the future means her client stands to make rather motivating money off her allegations. “I’ve spoken with her,” Allred responded. “There is no financial motive.” She drove her point home by telling Hannity to “take the book deal off the table; it’s not happening.”

The two eventually became embroiled in an argument over the specifics of Bialek’s account of what happened in or beside or adjacent to a car. Hannity later asked Allred why she didn’t let lay the entire story of what allegedly happened between Cain and her client out on the table instead of essentially teasing that there is “more to come.”

Allred’s response: “Don’t you like surprises, Sean?”

“This is someone’s life!” Hannity argued. “And what about these women?” Allred responded.

“An employer,” she later added, “never admits sexual harassment.” And what’s more, “an employer never admits anything in a settlement agreement.” She also called Cain’s previous claim that he had been merely comparing his first accuser’s height against that of his wife, “preposterous” and a demonstration of “disdain for the common sense of the American public.”

At GOP Debate, Rick Perry Can’t Remember Third Agency He Would End As President

Yeah, this was bad. And what's even more ironic about Perry many flubs during these debate is the fact that the person he's often most compared to, ex-President George W. Bush, knew how to stick to talking points and charm viewers during debates way better than people ever gave him credit for. You don't have to be a brilliant speaker to win debates, you just have to make sure the people watching feel you're more credible and sincere than the other guy and that's how Bush beat Gore and later on Kerry, even though on the surface each one were "smarter" than Bush was. If Perry still has a shot after this debacle he should go back and study the Bush debates:
Rick Perry has become famous for his poor debate performances, which contributed largely to his fall from the top of the GOP polls, but he has topped himself tonight. With a good head of steam going answering a question from Caterpillar CEO Douglas R. Oberhelman, Perry ground to a halt as he tried to explain the three government agencies he would eliminate. “Let me tell you, it’s three agencies that are gone when I get there. Commerce, Education, and the um, what’s the third one there?”

Mitt Romney tried to help, offering “EPA?”

That wasn’t it, according to Perry. Given another chance to list them by moderator John Harwood, Perry tried again.

“The third agency I would do away with…the…ahh…Education…ahh…Commerce, and, let’s see,” looking down at his podium, “I can’t, the third one. I can’t. Sorry. Oops.”

A few minutes later, Perry did recall the lucky third agency: The Department of Energy. Yeah, how’s the Governor of Texas supposed to remember that one?

It was painful to watch. Maybe Perry ought to consult with Sarah Palin before the next debate, if he’s still in the race after this.

Eric Holder Grilled For Running Guns In Mexico

CNN.com:
Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday that the controversial tactic that allowed illegal guns to be smuggled to Mexico "should never have happened, and it must never happen again."

In testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, Holder hit hard at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives practice that has tainted his tenure at the Justice Department and led to some Republican calls for him to resign.

"I want to be clear: Any instance of so-called 'gun walking' is unacceptable," Holder said of weapons smuggling, later adding: "This operation was flawed in its concept, and flawed in its execution."

Holder acknowledged what critics have been saying about the long-term consequences of "gun walking."

"Unfortunately we will feel its effects for years to come, as guns that were lost during this operation continue to show up at crime scenes both here and in Mexico," Holder said. "We are losing the battle to stop the flow of illegal guns to Mexico."

Holder defended his own actions, reminding the panel he called for the inspector general to examine the so-called Operation Fast and Furious and issued a directive that "gun-alking" was illegal and should never be repeated. The resulting report may be concluded before the end of the year.

However, Holder stopped short of laying blame for the flawed operation.

Last week, his assistant attorney general, Lanny Breuer, expressed "regret" for his failure to alert Holder about a similar earlier operation called "Wide Receiver" which had employed similar ATF "gun-walking" tactics during the Bush administration.

At the hearing Tuesday, Republican Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa said, "It doesn't matter how many laws we pass if those responsible for enforcing them refuse to do their duty -- as was the case in Fast and Furious."

Herman Cain’s Fourth Accuser Alleges ‘He Reached For My Genitals’

Mediaite.com:
Gloria Allred has just introduced the nation to Sharon Bialek, also known as the fourth accuser to allege inappropriate sexual harassment by GOP front runnner Herman Cain. After a long introduction by Allred, Bialek shared shocking details about a meeting she had with Mr. Cain while he was the president of the National Restaurant Association, specifically claiming that Herman Cain reach under her skirt and “reached for my genitals.” The Cain campaign has already released a statement denying that Bialek’s version of events ever took place.

Bialek retold the story of meeting Cain at a restaurant industry event in Chicago. After she had been terminated from a job at the NRA, she was encouraged by her boyfriend at the time to ask Mr. Cain for help in looking for another job. He agreed to meet with her, and when she arrived in Washington D.C, Cain allegedly upgraded her hotel suite, before things got far more interesting…allegedly. The most damning accusation by Bialek was the following passage (rough transcript provided by TVEyes):

At that time I had on a black pleated skirt, a suit jacket and a blouse. He had on a suit with his shirt open. But instead of going into the offices, he suddenly reached over and he put his hand on my leg under my skirt and reached for my genitals. He also grabbed my head and brought it towards his crotch. I was very, very surprised and very shocked. I said, “What are you doing? You know I have a boyfriend. This isn’t what I came here for.”

Mr. Cain said, ‘You want a job, right?’ I asked him to stop, and he did. I asked him to take me back to my hotel, which he did right away.

Conrad Murray Guilty: Jurors Find Doctor Responsible For Michael Jackson's Death

At the very least he was guilty of negligence, but thank goodness some sane people made sure that this man will not only do time, but never again practice medicine:
Dr. Conrad Murray, the former personal physician of Michael Jackson, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the King of Pop's 2009 death.

California jurors delivered their verdict to a stone-faced Murray on Monday after deliberating for ten hours.

The jury of seven men and five women concluded that the evidence was sufficient beyond any reasonable doubt that Murray caused the sleep-deprived singer's death.

On the ground, John Smith, 60, followed the trial for 33 days outside. "I never thought he would go on to be this huge," he said. "Mike was loved for his human rights, charity and music. Conrad Murray is going to be found guilty."

Kimberly Binion stood outside the courthouse holding a photo of herself and Michael Jackson from when they were both teens. She has been following the trial since it began and this is her first day outside to hear the verdict. "I think that Conrad Murray should get second-degree murder. Manslaughter is not enough," she told HuffPost.

The judge has ordered jurors' personal information sealed.

Before the verdict was read, crowds outside the courthouse were chanting "Guilty, guilty, guilty" and "This is it, this is it" -- not only signaling the resolution of a lengthy investigation, but recalling the name of the tour Jackson was working on at the time of his death.

Murray has been remanded without bail, and scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 29.

Howard Kurtz Grills Politico‘s Jonathan Martin On Herman Cain Alleged Sexual Harassment Reporting

Mediaite.com:
On CNN’s Reliable Sources Sunday morning, host Howard Kurtz gave Politico reporter Jonathan Martin a grilling worthy of Bobby Flay over whether the online paper had enough to publish its story on sexual harassment allegations against GOP frontrunner Herman Cain. The answer to that question was obvious, and gave short shrift to several more interesting questions that Kurtz touched on, but that didn’t quite connect.

Kurtz began by asking Jonathan Martin to discuss Politico’s story, and “what it didn’t contain in details.”

He ticked off some of the language from Politico‘s story, which contained somewhat general (but not vague) descriptions of the allegations, then asked, “Why publish the story then when you couldn’t answer the central question, what precisely is herman cain alleged to have done with these women?”

Martin’s response was to point out that their story was well-sourced (“half a dozen sources”), and has been corroborated by other news organizations, as well as the Cain campaign. As to the story’s newsworthiness, Martin didn’t get a single taker when he asked what journalist would not have printed such a story.

Kurtz pressed the issue of whether the report should have been published at all, questioning the “go or no-go decision,” and suggesting that “in a lot of news organizations, an editor would have said, ‘you have done some terrific reporting, you have great leads here, but you don’t have it.’”

Martin countered by pointing out that there was a level of specificity to the allegations they printed (“an explicit sexual overture”) that, while falling short of chapter and verse, certainly met the bar for newsworthiness.

There’s nothing wrong with Kurtz questioning Politico’s reporting, of course (that’s his job), but this appears to be a missed opportunity for him to bring his own expertise as a journalist to bear. Kurtz also questioned Politico’s decision not to print the names of the accusers, when he well knows that such a move would have been inherently unfair, given the legal gag that bound them, and the fact that the women (who are, presumably, not public figures) were not sources in the story. It’s also customary for journalists to exercise additional restraint regarding the identities of victims in sexual offenses.
