"Driving Miss Daisy" Actor Morgan Freeman Joins The 'Any Criticism Of Obama Is Racist' Crowd

Guess I was wrong for assuming that this guy was smarter than the usual suspects on the Left who ignore the facts and play the race card when it comes to criticizing Obama:
Morgan Freeman laid down the chips on the Tea Party in a new interview with Piers Morgan that is due to air Friday night.

The Oscar-winning actor sat down with the British TV host and, amongst other things, discussed his belief that the right wing Tea Party's anti-Obama stance is rooted in racism.

When asked by Morgan whether Obama's presidency has made racism in the United States better or worse, Freeman, who once played apartheid-defying South African president Nelson Mandela, frankly stated that his time in office has made it worse, as he has become a target of the right's aggression.

"Their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term," the actor said. "What’s, what does that, what underlines that? 'Screw the country. We’re going to whatever we do to get this black man, we can, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man outta here.'"

Declaring once again that "it's a racist thing," Freeman said the group's rise has shown the hate still lingering in America.

"Well, it just shows the weak, dark, underside of America," he said. "We’re supposed to be better than that. We really are. That’s, that’s why all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president. “Ah, look at what we are. Look at how, this is America.” You know? And then it just sort of started turning because these people surfaced like stirring up muddy water."
Yeah, because wanting a guy from an opposing party out of office can't have anything to do with failed economic policies, rising unemployment, inexperience and steady attempts to raise taxes, it has to be because those who oppose Barry are "RACIST!" What a simpleton that Morgan Freeman guy is.

Liberal Media Skips Facts, Plays Race Card In Troy Davis Execution

Mind you, I will forever believe that the death penalty is morally wrong and undeniably racist. But that still doesn't the MSM a right to flat-out lie and portray Troy Davis as being some kind of saint:
Good Morning America's Steve Osunsami on Thursday skipped or spun key facts while reporting on the execution of convicted cop killer Troy Davis in Georgia. The ABC reporter also played up the race angle, asserting that "supporters are asking difficult questions about the legal system, whether Davis' case would have gotten a greater re-examination if he were white and not black." However, he ignored the execution of a white man in Texas-- on the same day.

In that state, white supremacist Russell Brewer was put to death for the brutal murder of James Byrd. Osunsami left out other details in the Davis case. He noted that the "murder weapon was never found." However, the journalist didn't mention that Davis' gun had been used in another crime on the same day of the shooting and that the cartridges match.

News anchor Josh Elliott began the segment by claiming, "seven of the nine witnesses whose testimony helped convict Davis have now recanted their stories."

However, there were actually 34 witnesses, not nine. (See page 41 the Georgia ruling.) As Erick Erickson wrote on Red State:

Remember as well that there were 34 witnesses, not the 9 as claimed. The defense claims seven witnesses changed their testimony. That’s actually not true. Only two materially changed their testimony and Davis’s attorneys refused to present those two in federal court in 2010 to be examined in the evidentiary hearing even though they sat outside the courtroom door.

Osunsami has inserted race into his stories before. On the August 29, 2006 World News, he highlighted a conspiracy theory that levees in Lousisiana were blown up by a bomb.

No Critics Allowed: Big Three Nets Trumpet 'Historic' End to 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

NewsBusters.org:
The Big Three networks unequivocally celebrated the end of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy as a "historic moment" on their Tuesday morning programs. CBS's "Early Show" turned to a discharged Air Force major who pushed for further recognition of same-sex couples by the military. NBC's "Today" brought on a homosexual playwright to promote his one-man movie on the policy. ABC's "GMA" only had a news brief on the development, but still highlighted how a magazine is "publishing photos of more than 100 active duty gay and lesbian troops who served in silence until now." None of the programs brought on dissenting voices to advocate the continuation of the policy.

"The Early Show" devoted the most amount of air time to the expiration of the policy, and led the 7 am Eastern hour with a slanted report from correspondent David Martin. Martin played sound bites from President Obama and outgoing chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Admiral Mike Mullen, both opponents of the ban on open homosexuals from serving in the military, but none from supporters:

DAVID MARTIN: After 18 years of controversy, 'don't ask, don't tell' died at the stroke of midnight. From now on, gays can serve openly in the military, and the 13,000 who were discharged under 'don't ask, don't tell' can re-enlist.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA (from December 22, 2010 speech): No longer will our country be denied the service of thousands of patriotic Americans who were forced to leave the military because they happen to be gay.

MARTIN: President Clinton first tried to repeal the ban on gays, but ran into the objections of then-chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Colin Powell. A generation later, President Obama had the chairman of the Joint Chiefs on his side. Admiral McMullen was the decisive voice calling for the repeal of 'don't ask, don't tell.'

ADM. MIKE MULLEN, CHAIRMAN OF THE JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF: I cannot escape being troubled by the fact that we have in place a policy which forces young men and women to lie about who they are, in order to defend their fellow citizens.

MARTIN: There are thousands of gay men and women in uniform, and, as one of them said, this will be the first day that I can be open and honest about who I am. David Martin, CBS News, the Pentagon.

Over an hour later, substitute anchors Jeff Glor and Rebecca Jarvis conducted a softball interview of former Air Force Major Mike Almy, who appeared unopposed during the segment. Glor cited "some gay rights groups [who] say its only the beginning, that more needs to be done." Almy wholeheartedly agreed, and hinted that the Defense of Marriage Act needed to be overturned
It's like the passing of the 14th Amendment or something.

Rick Perry's Friendship With Cancer Patient Was Reason He Wanted Young Girls Vaccinated Against HPV

Well, this bit of news just makes Michele Bachmann look pretty stupid, now doesn't it:
She was 31, and her last wish was to save girls from cervical cancer.

Now, four years after her death, Heather Burcham is making headlines and saving lives again - this time, in the middle of Gov. Rick Perry’s Republican presidential campaign.

When Perry was dogged by opponents and reporters last week about his short-lived 2007 order requiring girls to be vaccinated against HPV, he never mentioned Heather.

But in her last months of life, long after legislative pressure had forced him to rescind the order, he phoned and visited her in Houston, even taking the 80-pound terminal cancer patient for a play day at a friend’s ranch.

Houston developer Craig Wilson, who first hired Burcham as a nanny and came to love her as a family friend, said Perry proved that he meant to save lives, not get publicity.

"He could have brought up this weepy story about Heather and made it a big heart-tugging story," Wilson said Friday.

"He didn’t, because he didn’t befriend her for publicity. He did it because he’s a real human being."

The story of Perry’s friendship with Burcham was retold Thursday by her former co-workers at ABC affiliate KTRK-TV in Houston, including snapshots of Perry taking Burcham for a motorcycle ride and visiting her bedside.

"I like to think Heather’s up in heaven, stirring the pot," Wilson said.

"She wants us all to remember that if this shot had been available when she was 11 or 12, she might not be dead."

He criticized Michele Bachmann’s complaints about the vaccine and maker Merck & Co.’s campaign contributions.

"She boxed herself into that ’all vaccines are evil’ camp," Wilson said. "And saying he did it for the money _ look, there was no reason for the governor to be so kind to Heather. He was trying to do good."

Dr. Keith Ablow Tells O’Reilly Chaz Bono On "Dancing With The Stars" Akin To Celebrating Anorexia, Heroin

Mediaite.com:
Tonight marks the much-discussed debut of transgender activist Chaz Bono on Dancing with the Stars, and his biggest opponent on cable news, Fox News contributor Dr. Keith Ablow, marked the occasion with a visit to the O’Reilly Factor doubling down on his claim that children watching Bono could be incited to change sexes. “He is on a campaign to mainstream trasngenderism,” Dr. Ablow told host Bill O’Reilly, arguing that celebrating him would be like “inviting people with anorexia on a fashion show” or publicizing heroin addiction.

Dr. Ablow repeated his original argument that, as “people model their behavior after another,” having children watch Bono would make them think transgenderism is possibly a viable alternative to how they were born. “We wouldn’t invite people with anorexia on a fashion show,” Dr. Ablow argued (and thus exposed to the audience that he has never seen a fashion show), “this is an exact parallel.”

O’Reilly seemed to miss the point of his argument. “What’s wrong? You’re an American, you can choose now with medical science to do many things, you have a right to do it legally.” For Dr. Ablow, there was a difference between the actual transgender transformation and “coming to me or my children or you and say[ing] ‘I want you to agree with me,’” noting that Bono had expressed interest in Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie child Shiloh, “to tell her that when she develops breasts she should cut them off,” he questioned. O’Reilly continued to express skepticism, even adding that watching Bono might be “a positive for parents to discuss this,” but Dr. Ablow stuck by his guns (as he has on this topic before), insisting that it was both a medical and moral problem, and that allowing any behavior as a discussion topic would open the floodgates to celebration drug addiction and other destructive behaviors.
Good for Dr. Ablow to not back off his professional criticism of Chaz Bono one iota. When Megyn Kelly becomes a licensed psychiatrist maybe she can speak on whether or a mainstreamed transgendered woman influences kids with some credibility.

Obama's Hometown Editor Calls On Him Not To Run For Re-Election

Damn, when people in your own backyard are calling you out for essentially being a loser, it might be time to admit that you're way in over your head:
When Ronald Reagan ran for re-election in 1984, his slogan was "Morning in America." For Barack Obama, it's more like midnight in a coal mine.

The sputtering economy is about to stall out, unemployment is high, his jobs program may not pass, foreclosures are rampant and the poor guy can't even sneak a cigarette.

His approval rating is at its lowest level ever. His party just lost two House elections — one in a district it had held for 88 consecutive years. He's staked his future on the jobs bill, which most Americans don't think would work.

The vultures are starting to circle. Former White House spokesman Bill Burton said that unless Obama can rally the Democratic base, which is disillusioned with him, "it's going to be impossible for the president to win." Democratic consultant James Carville had one word of advice for Obama: "Panic."

But there is good news for the president. I checked the Constitution, and he is under no compulsion to run for re-election. He can scrap the campaign, bag the fundraising calls and never watch another Republican debate as long as he's willing to vacate the premises by Jan. 20, 2013.

That might be the sensible thing to do. It's hard for a president to win a second term when unemployment is painfully high. If the economy were in full rebound mode, Obama might win anyway. But it isn't, and it may fall into a second recession — in which case voters will decide his middle name is Hoover, not Hussein. Why not leave of his own volition instead of waiting to get the ax?

It's not as though there is much enticement to stick around. Presidents who win re-election have generally found, wrote John Fortier and Norman Ornstein in their 2007 book, "Second-Term Blues," that "their second terms did not measure up to their first."

Presidential encores are generally a bog of frustration, exhaustion and embarrassment. They are famous for lowest moments rather than finest hours. Richard Nixon was forced to resign in disgrace, Reagan had the Iran-Contra scandal, and Bill Clinton made the unfortunate acquaintance of Monica Lewinsky.

Administration officials get weary after four years and leave in droves. The junior varsity has to be put into service. New ideas are hard to come by.

Someone said that when a man is smitten with a beautiful woman, he should remember that somebody somewhere is tired of her. Likewise, the most inspiring presidents get stale after years of constant overexposure.

In the event he wins, Obama could find himself with Republicans in control of both houses of Congress. Then he will long for the good old days of 2011. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker John Boehner will bound out of bed each day eager to make his life miserable.

Besides avoiding this indignity, Obama might do his party a big favor. In hard times, voters have a powerful urge to punish incumbents. He could slake this thirst by stepping aside and taking the blame. Then someone less reviled could replace him at the top of the ticket.
