Obama Tax Plan Would Ask More of Millionaires, But It Won't Fix The Debt

NYTimes.com:
President Obama on Monday will call for a new minimum tax rate for individuals making more than $1 million a year to ensure that they pay at least the same percentage of their earnings as middle-income taxpayers, according to administration officials.

With a special joint Congressional committee starting work to reach a bipartisan budget deal by late November, the proposal adds a new and populist feature to Mr. Obama’s effort to raise the political pressure on Republicans to agree to higher revenues from the wealthy in return for Democrats’ support of future cuts from Medicare and Medicaid.

Mr. Obama, in a bit of political salesmanship, will call his proposal the “Buffett Rule,” in a reference to Warren E. Buffett, the billionaire investor who has complained repeatedly that the richest Americans generally pay a smaller share of their income in federal taxes than do middle-income workers, because investment gains are taxed at a lower rate than wages.

Mr. Obama will not specify a rate or other details, and it is unclear how much revenue his plan would raise. But his idea of a millionaires’ minimum tax will be prominent in the broad plan for long-term deficit reduction that he will outline at the White House on Monday.

Mr. Obama’s proposal is certain to draw opposition from Republicans, who have staunchly opposed raising taxes on the affluent because, they say, it would discourage investment. It could also invite scrutiny from some economists who have disputed Mr. Buffett’s assertion that the megarich pay a lower tax rate over all. Mr. Buffett’s critics say many of the rich actually make more from wages than from investments.

In a speech on Thursday, Speaker John A. Boehner, Republican of Ohio, agreed with Mr. Obama that the deficit-reduction committee “can tackle tax reform, and it should,” to get rid of many tax breaks and allow for lower marginal rates.

“Tax increases, however, are not a viable option for the joint committee,” Mr. Boehner said. Instead, he emphasized that meeting the deficit-reduction target should come largely from overhauling benefit programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

The Obama proposal has little chance of becoming law unless Republican lawmakers bend. But by focusing on the wealthiest Americans, the president is sharpening the contrast between Republicans and Democrats with a theme he can carry into his bid for re-election in 2012.
Of course, no mention by the Left-leaning NYTimes that taxing the rich does little to tackle the deficit.

Lady Gaga's Hair Stylist Admits That She Worship The Devil

Lady Gaga: Madonna-wannabee, friend of Harry Reid and huge gay advocate, is now being accused of being a devil worshipper by her ex-hair stylist. Now the naive folks out there will accuse Michael Pooter of having sour grapes, but it's funny how little people fail to associate those who endorse and/or engage in unGodly acts like Lady Gaga does of being...well, unGodly:
...He also stated she would stare at him when he cut with the scariest of eyes. The devil's eyes. Michael Pooter, who cut her hair since January 2010, said in a interview for "Stylists of the Whores" magazine that when he confronted her about it, she told him she would eat his children if he ever told anyone....

"She was usually liquored up on cheap whiskey when she came in for treatment. One day, when she was mumbling more than normal, which I found out later was her actually speaking in tongues, I saw the number 666 on her scalp and I quickly asked for God to protect me. She rose up out of her chair and floated 3 feet above the ground while yelling....."

"YOUR GOD IS NOT HERE MICHAEL. NOR WILL HE EVER BE. NOW GIVE ME SOME MORE HIGHLIGHTS AND TRIM MY BANGS YOU WORTHLESS *beep*"

Michael, recently took his family and is living in an undisclosed location for the protection of his family.
Social liberals are almost always agnostic or atheists, this is just a simple fact that too often gets overlooked by conservatives.

Idiot Liberal Fox Host Megyn Kelly Says No One Is Influenced By Seeing Transgenders In TV

Really, now I've lost all my respect for Megyn Kelly. It's one thing to play devil's advocate on your show as she often does (Bill O'Reilly does it too), but to push the envelope and accuse a FOX contributor of being ‘irresponsible and dangerous’ all because the guy (a professional psychiatrist by the way) disagrees with you and thinks Chaz Bono's current sexual identity might confuse kids is beyond the pale. Of course Kelly in her argument make no mention of the fact that she's become an advocate for the pro-gay, far-Left agenda of late:
Kelly, who appeared as a "special guest" at a Manhattan fundraiser for the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (as many Fox News employees have), told Ablow that he was out of his depth and that other doctors knew more than he did. She quoted from Dr. Jack Drescher, who also had a piece on Foxnews.com denouncing Ablow. Kelly did not tell her viewers that Drescher's piece was borrowed from the blog of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest LGBT lobby -- which might make one think there's more than "science" here in the mix.
To think I used to like and respect Megyn Kelly for her professionalism and willingness to challenge liberal propaganda, but when conservative-hating liberals are celebrating you for spouting lame leftwing talking points while supporting their morally-bankrupt agenda, it becomes clear that Kelly is just another MSNBC host-in-waiting. Hopefully Roger Ailes can find her a new home quick.

Archie Comics To Feature First 'Gay Marriage'

Used to be a time when reading comic books was an innocent and fun diversion from the rigors of day-to-day life. But in 2011, indoctrination by the morally bankrupt far-Left, pro-gay agenda is the way to go. In other words keep an extra eye out on your kids:
Archie is going from comic to culture warrior again, as the Archie Comics universe fields praise and scorn over a gay wedding.

After a pair of straight weddings -- both strangely involving Archie, though in his dreams -- drew national attention, the publisher behind the popular stories has confirmed that it’s making room for someone else to walk down the aisle: Kevin Keller, the series’ first openly-gay character.

“Kevin followed in his father's footsteps and is returning to Riverdale as a war hero, but that's not all – It’s Kevin’s wedding day!” reads a news release from Archie Comic Publications, promoting an upcoming issue of "Life With Archie."

In this offshoot series, which runs glimpse-into-the-future storylines based on the lives of Archie, Betty and Veronica, readers soon will be able to discover how Kevin met “Mr. Right.”

It’s the first time the Archie universe, which depicts the lives of teenagers in the fictional town of Riverdale, has touched upon the topic of gay marriage. But the plot is drawing mixed reactions from critics over whether or not it has a place in series read by those of all ages.

“I think it’s great that the reality of America’s loving couples are being portrayed in as many places as possible,” said Evan Wolfson, the founder and president of Freedom to Marry, a national movement for marriage equality.

“We all want to be part of family and community -- that’s what marriage is about,” he said. “Gay people share the same dreams.”

But for others, Kevin’s path to the altar isn’t so peachy-keen.

“It's unfortunate that a comic book series usually seen as depicting innocent, all-American life is now being used to advance the sexual revolution,” said Peter Spriggs, a senior fellow at the Family Research Council, a Washington, D.C.-based lobbying organization promoting Christian views.

Obama Ignored at Least Three Watchdog Reports Criticizing Energy Department’s Loan Controls

Yahoo.com:
White House officials discussed the political ramifications of a possible default by a troubled solar energy company that received more than $500 million in federal loans, newly released emails show.

Emails released Thursday night show that Obama administration privately worried about the effect of a default by Solyndra Inc. on the president's re-election campaign.

"The optics of a Solyndra default will be bad," an official from the Office of Management and Budget wrote in a Jan. 31 email to a senior OMB official. "The timing will likely coincide with the 2012 campaign season heating up."

The email, released by the House Energy and Commerce Committee as part of its investigation into the Solyndra loan, showed that Obama administration officials were concerned about Solyndra's financial health even as they publicly declared the solar panel maker in good shape.

Solyndra, which received $528 million in federal loans under the stimulus law, declared bankruptcy late last month and laid off 1,100 workers.

The Silicon Valley company was the first renewable-energy company to receive a loan guarantee under the 2009 stimulus law, and the Obama administration frequently touted Solyndra as a model for its clean energy program. President Barack Obama visited the company's Fremont, Calif., headquarters last year.

Even as Obama praised the company's plans to hire more than 1,000 workers, warning signs were being sent from within the government and from outside analysts who questioned Solyndra's viability as a "going concern."

At least three reports by federal watchdogs over the past two years warned that the Energy Department had not fully developed the controls needed to manage the multibillion-dollar loan program that provided more the loan to Solyndra Inc., a now-bankrupt solar panel manufacturer.

Emails obtained by The Associated Press show that a White House official dismissed reports about Solyndra's gloomy future. An email from Greg Nelson, a White House official who had been involved in the planning of Obama's May 2010 trip to Solyndra's headquarters, to a Solyndra executive downplayed a July 2010 news story in a trade publication that criticized the company's financial health.

"Seems B.S.," Nelson wrote.

Voter Frustration With Barack Obama Leads To GOP Win For Anthony Weiner's Old Senate Seat

Liberals can continue to spin the failures of the Obama administration all they want because no one's buying their BS. I mean when a Republican wins an election in a heavily Democratic district like Bob Turner just did tonight (the first time a Republican won in that district was in the 1920's) it's a clear sign that people are long past fed up with Obama and this economy:
With the outcome of his own reelection effort 14 difficult months away, President Obama suffered a sharp rebuke Tuesday when voters in New York elected a conservative Republican to represent a Democratic district that has not been in GOP hands since the 1920s.

Bob Turner, the winner, cast the election as a referendum on Obama’s stewardship of the economy and, in the state’s Ninth Congressional District, which has a large population of Orthodox Jewish voters, the president’s position on Israel.

With 75 percent of the precincts reporting at press time, Turner had a commanding lead, with 53 percent of the vote, compared with 47 percent for Weprin.

Turner, 70, a retired cable TV executive who has never served in elective office, defeated Democratic State Assemblyman David Weprin, 55, who has two decades of experience in public service, to fill the seat left vacant when Anthony Weiner (D) resigned in disgrace in June after more than 12 years in the House.

The defeat came as Republicans trounced Democrats in another special House election Tuesday, in northern Nevada, where Republican Mark Amodei led Democrat Kate Marshall, 56 percent to 39 percent almost from the start.

In both contests, the GOP pulled ahead by linking the Democratic candidate to Obama and his handling of the economy. Both Republican contenders urged voters to “send a message” to the president.

Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld Tells NY Times Paul Krugman To ‘Go To Hell’ Over 9/11 Column

Mediaite.com:
There has been quite a reaction to Paul Krugman’s instantly infamous 9/11 blog post entitled “The Year’s of Shame.” Donald Rumsfeld claimed it caused him to cancel his New York Times subscription, Fox News has been all over it like a hawk, and, even in a column entitled “Forgive Paul Krugman For Calling 9/11 ‘An Occasion For Shame,’” our own Tommy Christopher wrote that the post featured “several stupid, wrong things in that small space.” On The Five yesterday though, Greg Gutfeld took it upon himself to sum up what he believed was the nation’s collective response: “Go to hell, Paul Krugman, you bearded bitter buffoon.”

While not using such harsh terms, the rest of the panel seemed to agree. Of course, all of them except Bob Beckel don’t like Krugman on a good day, but it was notable seeing Dana Perino clearly taking the post personally as it featured large swipes at her former boss, George W. Bush. The conversation soon turned to whether or not the New York Times even reads Krugman’s stuff before letting it run considering both the content as well as some nasty typos.

After this, The Five‘s hosts changed gears and got equally passionate about the question of whether airplane bathrooms are even big enough for the “mile high club” which, I suppose, is a pretty good distillation of the show’s appeal.

Ed Henry To Adweek: ‘I Start Asking Tough Questions At Fox And Everybody Freaked Out’

Adweek.com:
Why did you leave CNN after seven years to join Fox?
I loved just about every minute of CNN. I was turning 40 on July 20, my contract was up, and I needed a change. I had been talking to Fox for a time. They expressed an interest and I expressed an interest and we had some conversations. There were other networks I was talking to. It was time for the next phase.

So your move to Fox had nothing to do with calling for Fox to get Helen Thomas’ seat in the White House briefing room last year?
I wish it were that easy. But in fact, it had nothing to do with it. Fox stepped aside for CNN in 2007, so once something opened up, Fox was next in line. That was more than a year before my contract was up. I thought it was the right thing to do. And I still think it was.

Were you concerned about moving to a news organization that has a reputation for a conservative bias?
I know what people say about Fox and about what they say is a tilt to the right. Meanwhile, the reporters I know, like Bret Baier, are right down the middle and are tough on everybody.

Any challenge in preserving your reputation as a straight shooter since moving to Fox?
I asked tough questions of the Bush White House when I was at CNN. I asked tough questions of the Obama White House when I was at CNN and nobody freaked out. I start asking tough questions at Fox and everybody freaked out. If I was a shrinking violet at CNN and was meekly sitting in the corner and occasionally raising my hand and then went to Fox and on Day 2 started asking really tough questions, I think the case would be stronger that I had some sort of bias. I was asking tough questions at CNN, I’ll be asking tough questions at Fox.

No one at Fox is telling you to ask one question or make certain talking points?
Absolutely not. My first day at Fox, President Obama gave a prime-time address to the nation. That would have been a great chance for Roger Ailes or someone to say, “Hey, Ed, there is going to be a lot of people watching tonight, maybe you should hit Obama on this or that.” I didn’t get a phone call from anyone. I didn’t get an email from anyone. But what I did get was, we want you to be front and center tonight. I was on with Bret Baier, not Sean Hannity or some of the opinion anchors we have. Next morning ratings came out, and Fox had about 4 million viewers. CNN had about 2 million.

It all comes down to ratings . . .
If after you are part of a big story and the scorecard comes in and twice as many people watched you this week as a few weeks ago, I’m not going to lie, it feels pretty good.

MRC’s September 11 ‘Tribute to the Media’

Newsbusters.org:
“A Tribute to the Media,” a ten-minute video, honoring television coverage of the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. This was shown at the Media Research Center’s “DisHonors Awards” held in Washington, DC on January 17, 2002 when we took a time-out for a few minutes to pay tribute to the patriotic work of journalists during the national crisis.

The video starts with clips of the breaking news reporting that Tuesday morning, moves to world reaction, memorial services and search efforts; then to the patriotism displayed by Americans, the U.S. military response, Dan Rather and Geraldo Rivera rallying behind President Bush.

It includes powerful commentaries from two leading journalists who have since passed away: Tim Russert and Tony Snow.

Video: George W. Bush Remembers 9/11

Newsbusters.org:
On Saturday, former President George W. Bush and his wife Laura honored the heroes of September 11th at the dedication of the Flight 93 National Memorial.

Shortly after, the Bush Center released a video in which the former President invited people to help commemorate the 10th anniversary of the attacks by contributing to a historical record for future generations.

Poll: Obama’s Approval Among Blacks Plummets—To 84%

Hey, unemployment for blacks could rise to 50%, and Barry could get caught cheating on Michelle with a white woman and black liberals would still overwhelmingly support him:
A newly released Gallup poll reveals historic lows in President Obama’s job approval rating across three key demographic groups. Among the nation’s largest such group, whites, his approval is at 33%—25 points off his post-election high of 58%. Among the second largest ethnicity, Hispanics, his numbers have dropped even more precipitously, from 75% in January, 2009, to 48% in August of this year.

So far has Obama’s star fallen since he rode to electoral victory on the twin promises of hope and change that his approval among his most loyal constituency, blacks, has tied its all-time low. Having once enjoyed a supernal job approval rating of 92%, Obama now gets the nod from a merely unprecedented 84% of blacks.

Either the members of this ethnic group is the most astute political observers ever, or they are judging the president based on the color of his skin. With black unemployment at its highest rate in 27 years and no indication that that statistic is likely to change soon, one is drawn to the strong likelihood that race is the operant variable.

This is in not to suggest that “home team pride” is not a factor in all of us. Nor is it to dismiss wholesale the possibility suggested by Algernon Austin, director of the Race, Ethnicity, and the Economy program at the Economic Policy Institute, that “racial discrimination in the labor market continues to play a role.”

Yet, as sports fans know, you support your coach only so long as he leads the team to victory. When he stops performing or fails to live up to expectations, you demand that the GM start shopping for a replacement. When will black “fans” grow weary of Coach Obama?
