Ralph Nader Is 'Almost 100 Percent' Certain Obama Will Face Primary Challenge

DailyCaller.com:
Ralph Nader, the consumer advocate and perennial third-party presidential candidate, announced last month that he would work to find a Democrat to challenge President Barack Obama in 2012.

Nader now says that a primary challenge is a near certainty.

“What [Obama] did this week is just going to energize that effort,” Nader promised in an interview with The Daily Caller. “I would guess that the chances of there being a challenge to Obama in the primary are almost 100 percent.”

The only question, he said, is the stature of that opponent and whether it will be either “an ex-senator or an ex-governor” or “an intellectual leader or an environmental leader.”

In approximately a week and a half there will be “another chapter of this effort,” Nader predicted.

The Public Citizen founder said he disapproved of how Obama handled recent debt ceiling negotiations, and claimed the deal’s failings prompted this week’s dramatic stock market drop.

“He made a deal that did not provide for a public works project to create jobs all over the country. All he did was he agreed to cut spending,” Nader said. “And that’s what the market is reacting to.”

Bill Clinton-Appointed Judge Allows American To Sue Donald Rumsfeld Over Torture

This stinks to high hell:
A federal judge has ruled that former Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld can be sued personally for damages by a former U.S. military contractor who says he was tortured during a nine-month imprisonment in Iraq.

The lawsuit lays out a dramatic tale of the disappearance of the then-civilian contractor, an Army veteran in his 50s whose identity is being withheld from court filings for fear of retaliation. Attorneys for the man, who speaks five languages and worked as a translator for Marines collecting intelligence in Iraq, say he was preparing to come home to the United States on annual leave when he was abducted by the U.S. military and held without justification while his family knew nothing about his whereabouts or even whether he was still alive.

The government says he was suspected of helping pass classified information to the enemy and helping anti-coalition forces get into Iraq. But he was never charged with a crime, and he says he never broke the law and was risking his life to help his country.

Court papers filed on his behalf say he was repeatedly abused while being held at Camp Cropper, a U.S. military facility near the Baghdad airport dedicated to holding "high-value" detainees, then suddenly released without explanation in August 2006.

Two years later, he filed suit in U.S. District Court in Washington arguing that Rumsfeld personally approved torturous interrogation techniques on a case-by-case basis and controlled his detention without access to courts in violation of his constitutional rights.

Sarah Palin: If The Tea Party Were ‘Domestic Terrorists’ Obama Would Pal Around With Us

Gotta admit, she got in a great line there:
After a lukewarm segment last night, Sarah Palin returned to Hannity tonight to defend the Tea Party from criticisms comparing them to terrorists. The topic put Palin squarely back in her element, and she took the opportunity to slam President Obama for not being more vocal in opposing the hyperbolic rhetoric. Arguing that the administration had been far too lenient on actual terrorists to permit such language, she quipped, “if we were real domestic terrorists, I don’t think President Obama would have a problem with us.”

Palin noted that the casual labeling of Tea Partiers as “racist” during the debt debate proved that the speech the President gave after the Tucson shootings imploring political leaders to watch their language was “all talk”– a speech that host Sean Hannity noted Palin was particularly sensitive to since her crosshairs ad featuring Rep. Gabrielle Giffords shot a significant amount of outcry her way. “He wasn’t sincere in that,” she argued, “and that is typical Barack Obama… it’s blah blah blah. Otherwise,” she continued, “he’d be on Biden… to tone it down a bit.”

Palin then argued that the President’s record with terrorists didn’t give him much room to criticize others. “If we were really domestic terrorists, President Obama would want to be palling around with us.” She cited his relationship to Bill Ayers, “shaking hands with [Hugo] Chavez, wanting to read U.S. Miranda rights to alleged suspected foreign terrorists,” as evidence that he doesn’t mind terrorists all that much– “if we were real domestic terrorists, I don’t think President Obama would have a problem with us.”

She then railed against the administration and the media for the hyperbole that included a very well-placed Britney Spears reference: “Let’s call them out on their hypocrisy, Sean,” she advised, “because enough is enough. I’m not going to sit around with a sticker plastered on my forehead that says ‘hit me, baby, one more time.’”

Polar Bear Population Much Higher Than In 20th Century, Global Warming Theory Faces Sudden Collapse

NYPost.com:
Every day it seems new evidence emerges that the “evidence” for global warming has been exaggerated, manufactured or just plain wrong.

Take the case of Charles Monnett of the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement. On July 18, Monnett -- a longtime poster boy for global-warming orthodoxy -- was put on leave pending an investigation into the “integrity” of his work.

The specifics of the investigation are as yet unclear, but the Associated Press reports on indications that the questioning "has centered on observations that Monnett and fellow researcher Jeffrey Gleason made in 2004 . . . of four dead polar bears floating in the water after a storm. They detailed their observations in an article published two years later in the journal Polar Biology."

Monnett and Gleason claimed this was the first known observation of polar bears apparently drowning after being forced to swim long distances in the open sea. Naturally, they saw global warming -- which allegedly is shrinking the polar ice caps -- as the culprit.

The dead bears, they wrote, “suggest that drowning-related deaths of polar bears may increase in the future if the observed trend of regression of pack ice and/or longer open water periods continues.”

Thanks in large measure to the work of Monnett and Gleason, the polar bear became the official mascot for climate-change alarmism. Images of a lone polar bear perched forlornly on a shrinking ice flow served as efficient propaganda for indoctrinating children; Al Gore used the “polar bears are drowning” meme in his global warming scare-umentary “An Inconvenient Truth.”

And in 2008 the US government officially listed the polar bear as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act.

Now Monnett has been put on “leave” due to “integrity” issues. Great.

Obama Signs Debt Bill, Heading Off Default

CNN.com:
President Barack Obama signed a last-minute compromise plan to raise the nation's $14.3 trillion debt ceiling Tuesday afternoon, narrowly averting what could have been an unprecedented default with calamitous economic consequences.

The U.S. Senate passed the plan, which imposes sweeping new spending cuts over the next decade, shortly after noon ET. The bill was approved in a 74-26 vote; 60 votes were required for passage.

The measure was approved by the House of Representatives on Monday by a 269-161 vote, overcoming opposition from unhappy liberal Democrats and tea party Republicans.

Obama praised the deal moments after the Senate passed it, calling the measure "an important first step for ensuring that as a nation we don't live beyond our means."

But the American economy "didn't need Washington to come along with a manufactured crisis," the president noted. "It's pretty likely that the uncertainty surrounding the raising of the debt ceiling -- for both businesses and consumers -- has been unsettling, and just one more impediment to the full recovery that we need. And it was something that we could have avoided entirely."

"Voters may have chosen divided government, but they sure didn't vote for dysfunctional government," the president said.

If the debt ceiling had not been increased before the end of Tuesday, Americans could have seen rapidly rising interest rates, a falling dollar and shakier financial markets, among other problems.

Singer Rihanna Dresses And Acts Like Slut At Parade, Says She's Not A Role Model

Despite being a survivor of an abusive relationship with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, singer Rihanna wants everyone to know that she's learned nothing from the infamous affair that made her even more famous for all the wrong reasons. Speaking to Glamour magazine for their upcoming September issue, Rihanna spoke about how much she expects a man to be "dominant" in bed and how being a roel model to young women is no "fun" to her. This interview comes out before Rihanna was recently spotted dressing like a hoochie mama while acting like a slut at a parade in her hometown Barbados. Wonder why more and more young women are lacking morals and values and instead becoming victims of an oversexualized culture? Partly because celebrities like Rihanna give them the ok to do so:
"I play a very dominant role in my life, in every aspect of it. And I like to feel like a lady still, at some point. I feel like that's the time when a guy really gets to be a man, and I get to be a woman. And if I'm being a man in the bedroom too, there's nothing really in it for me."

With songs like "S&M," "Only Girl" and "Rude Boy," the singer has become known for her over-the-top sexuality and has many people questioning her status as a role model.

"I want to set the right example and, at the same time, live my life, " Rihanna says in response. "I feel like pop stars can't be rock stars anymore because they have to be role models, and it takes the fun out of it for us, because we just want to have fun with art."

Gabrielle Giffords Makes First Appearance In House Since Tuscon Shooting To Cast Vote In Favor Of Debt Deal

Now that's courage:
Emergency legislation to avoid an economy-rattling government default sped through the House Monday night, a scant day before the deadline for action — the dramatic vote made all the more memorable by Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' first appearance in Congress since suffering a head wound in a shooting six months ago.

The vote was 269-161, but all eyes were on Giffords, who drew thunderous applause as she walked into the House chamber and cast her vote in favor of the bill.

A final Senate sign-off for the measure is virtually assured on Tuesday.

"If the bill were presented to the president, he would sign it," the White House said, an understatement of enormous proportions.

After months of fiercely partisan struggle, the House's top Republican and Democratic leaders swung behind the bill, ratifying a deal sealed Sunday night with a phone call from House Speaker John Boehner to President Barack Obama.

"The legislation will solve this debt crisis and help get the American people back to work," Boehner said at a news conference a few hours before the vote.

Miley Cyrus Supports Gay Marriage, "Good Girls" Can Stop Supporting Her Now

WaPo.com:
What is the best way to make a political statement if you’re Miley Cyrus? A tattoo, of course!

The singer showed off a freshly inked equals sign on her ring finger via Twitter. The picture was accompanied by the message, “All LOVE is equal.” The heart tattoo on her pictured pinky is just one of the 18-year-old’s seven other tattoos.

When a fan disagreed with her stance on gay marriage, Cyrus proved she can be rather civil when discussing politics and religion. “Where does it say in the bible to judge others? Oh right. It doesn’t. GOD is the only judge honey,” she tweeted. Still, she supports the opposition’s right to speak out: “Everyone is entitled 2 opinions!”

This isn’t the first time the former Disney star has used 140 characters for political purposes. She took a stand against Urban Outfitters co-founder Rick Hayne’s political donations to GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum, who is staunchly against same-sex marriage.
Of course, as a believer in self-responsibility I'm never with holding any kind of celebrity on a pedestal. But ever since she first found fame playing "Hannah Montana" on Disney awhile back, thousands of young women around the world have looked up to Miley Cyrus as a role model and then some, But once again, like many before (and after) her she's proves to be a huge disappointment.

Whether it's wearing oversexualized outfits at award shows, "almost kissing" another girl or taking photo shoots in underwear for magazines, Cyrus continues to walk down the same road that many young starlets have walked before her, getting caught up in promoting sex before talent while becoming a spokesman for the morally-bankrupt liberal, Hollywood elite.

So of course, she's now out there supporting "gay marriage", don't be surprised if she's doing a lesbian liplock on screen soon or gets caught up in some other sex scandal down the line--it's the direction all these young actresses today go to prove how "tolerant" and "open-minded" they are. In other words, Hollywood actresses with class like Julia Roberts or Reese Witherspoon are on the verge becoming extinct, and "good girls" around the world need to not only pay heed, but turn off the TV set altogether and find their role models elsewhere.

By the way Miley, since you're now an "expert" on love and "all love is equal", shouldn't you be out there staunchly supporting polygamists too?
