Chris Christie Has Health Scare, Needs To Lose The Weight

NYDailyNews.com:
The wife of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie rushed to his side Thursday after he was hospitalized with breathing problems.

Christie is "fine and in charge," his deputy chief of staff, Maria Comella, insisted.

Friends said Christie was resting comfortably and watching the news coverage about his health scare.

But the blunt-talking Republican cancelled his monthly "Ask the Governor" radio show, which was scheduled for Thursday night, and aides said he was undergoing more tests.

The first batch detected no heart or lung problems.

Mary Pat, who works as an investment banker in Manhattan, was with her husband at the hospital.
I'm glad he's doing ok, but maybe this bit of news will finally get Christie to wake up and do something about his weight. Forget that his weight is an easy target for smear merchant liberals who can't debate the issues, way more important is Christie's health and the fact that he has a wife and kids to think about. Then too is the fact that Christie's weight is an issue image wise--even if you're a fan of his, it's hard not to pay attention to how fat he is. I've seen pictures of Christie making speeches and although you try your best to stay focucsed on his words, it's impossible not to ignore the sweat pouring from his brow, sweat-drenched dress shirts or the thought that God forbid he might have a heart attack when he gets really angry. Bottom line Christie's weight is not healthy and he needs to get a dietician, a nutritionist, a trainer, whatever and do something about it. He's 48, grossly overweight and suffers from asthma--not a good combination for him, his family or his political future and more people need to be upfront and tell him that.

'Christian Metal Rocker’ Sues Rachel Maddow For $50 Million, Network Calls Suit ‘Baseless’

Hopefully this goes through and the morally bankrupt, scheming liar that is Rachel Maddow has to pay out of her pocket:
If you’re not up on your Christian metal rock, you might not know Bradlee Dean, a Christian metal rocker who also runs the You Can Run But You Cannot Hide Ministry. He’s also suing MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow for 50 million dollars, but his lawyer says don’t get the wrong idea, “money is not the issue.” Why the lawsuit? According to a statement released by Dean’s lawyer, it all started with a segment Maddow did on Mr. Dean, which the lawyer called defamatory–and Dean’s support for Michele Bachmann. “The left wing media’s effort to defame Dean is an obvious way to try to harm Bachmann’s presidential prospects, who they fear and despise.”

MSNBC, in a statement, says the suit is “baseless…and we stand by our reporting.”

In a segment dubbed “Scary Home Companion,” Maddow mocked Dean–and aired a comment Dean made on his radio show suggesting that “Muslims are calling for the execution of homosexuals in America” in a line of thinking that seemed to suggest that if America does not deal with homosexuality, God will use a “foreign enemy” to take care of the problem:

“If America won’t enforce the laws, God will raise up a foreign enemy to do just that. That’s what you are seeing today in America.”

According to Dean’s lawyer, Dean was, you know, just talking about politics and stuff:

It was Bradlee’s intent to focus attention on the issue, not to advocate harm to anyone.

Despite the very clear disclaimer by Bradlee Dean on his ministries website and elsewhere regarding the false accusation that he was calling for the execution of homosexuals, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and others seized on and accused Dean on her show of supporting the killing of homosexuals, as is the practice in some radical Islamic countries. This seriously has harmed Dean and the ministry, who pride themselves on respect and love for all people.

Democrat Congressman David Wu Resigns Amidst Sex Scandal

What is it with liberals and sex scandals? Could it be these days that describing yourself as a liberal just means you're morally bankrupt? I'd say so:
Embattled U.S. Rep. David Wu will resign from the House of Representatives after being accused of making unwanted sexual advances toward a fundraiser's daughter, he announced Tuesday.

In a statement issued by his office, the seven-term Oregon Democrat said he would step down once the current standoff between Congress and the White House over raising the U.S. debt ceiling is resolved.

"I cannot care for my family the way I wish while serving in Congress and fighting these very serious allegations," Wu said. "The well-being of my children must come before anything else."

Gov. John Kitzhaber said he will call for a special election once he has Wu's official resignation.

On Friday, Portland newspaper The Oregonian reported that the daughter of one of Wu's fundraisers accused him of unwanted sexual advances in May. Citing anonymous sources from inside the congressman's office, The Oregonian said the woman, whom it declined to name, left a voice-mail message at Wu's Portland office alleging aggressive advances.

Gay Marriage Opponents Sue To Overturn New York Law

In all likelihood this will get turned down, but with a New York City press that literally willed Gov. Cuomo and state Republicans to pass same-sex marriage, it's good to know that conservatives here aren't giving up the fight to save marriage:
Opponents to New York's gay marriage law filed the first lawsuit challenging the measure, an anticipated salvo that came one day after weddings were celebrated around the state.

A representative of New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms and a rabbi said in a lawsuit filed Monday in state court that New York's Senate violated its own procedures and the state's open meetings law when it approved the bill on June 24.

The lawsuit claims that the Senate prevented lawmakers who opposed the bill from speaking and that the Senate didn't follow procedures that require a bill to go through appropriate committees before a full Senate vote.
Opponents of the gay marriage law had promised lawsuits.

"We should have an open and deliberative process," the Rev. Jason McGuire, executive director of New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms, told The Associated Press. "If truly the legislation can stand on its own merits then it should be able to withstand being deliberated publicly."

Spokesmen for Senate Republicans and the state's attorney general declined to comment.

Hundreds of gay couples got married starting just past midnight Sunday as New York became the sixth and largest state to legalize same-sex weddings. Ceremonies were held around the state, mostly in New York City where the day's celebration was tempered by a protest in which thousands of opponents marched to the United Nations.

Cenk Uygur: Al Sharpton May Have Gotten MSNBC Show Because He Won't Criticize Obama

Newsbusters.org:
When CBS's "60 Minutes" did a puff piece about Al Sharpton in May, Lesley Stahl revealed the Reverend refuses to say anything bad about President Obama.

On Sunday's "Reliable Sources," former MSNBC contributor Cenk Uygur claimed he might have been replaced by Sharpton in the 6PM time slot because of the Reverend's undying devotion to the current White House resident

HOWARD KURTZ, HOST: But you suggested, when this split came, that perhaps there was some White House pressure on MSNBC because you have taken on the president on various things. But you don't have any evidence of that, do you?

CENK UYGUR: But I didn't say that. I said people in Washington had a concern with my tone, which is what Phil Griffin told me. I didn't say that he said that it was the White House. Now, you know, who is the people in Washington? I think that's a really great question, probably needs some more investigation.

You know, a friend of mine just suggested that I watch the "60 Minutes" piece from a couple of months ago on Al Sharpton. And I found that to be very curious because Leslie Stahl said there, and here I have the quote for you: "Sharpton says he has decided not to criticize the president about anything."

So the guy who was criticizing the president is out, even though he had really good ratings, and the guy who has decided not to criticize the president about anything is in. That's interesting.
