Lame New York Republicans Cave To Liberal Governor Andrew Cuomo And Allow Gay Marriage In New York

HuffPo.com:
Gay couples and proponents of gay rights have a reason to celebrate tonight, as the New York State Senate has passed a bill that allows same sex marriage.

New York will be the sixth, and largest, state in the union to adopt gay marriage. The bill will take effect 30 days after governor Andrew Cuomo signs it into law.

The decision, which passed 33-29, was the culmination of weeks of contentious debate and negotiations between Governor Cuomo and the GOP-controlled Senate. After the bill passed in the Assembly, it was unclear if the bill had secured enough votes to pass in the Senate. When a few notable undecideds joined the cause --including Republican Roy McDonald who famously defended his decision, saying "fuck it, I don't care what you think. I'm trying to do the right thing" -- the scale in favor of gay marriage seemed to tip.
New York Republicans had the power to stop this. But they caved. Not only to a liberal governor who put unprecedented pressure on them to pass this immoral act, but the radically-leftist media here who literally begged, pressured and smeared them to get it done.

Homosexuality is an immoral, behavioral choice. It is up and down wrong. The super-rich and powerful gay lobbyists in this country knew full-well going in that getting New York to approve same-sex marriage would go a big way towards pushing their agenda forward, while further destroying the moral fabric of this country. Yet, Republican Senate had a chance to stop this from happening and they blew it...bigtime. Each one of the four GOP heads who bowed down to Andrew Cuomo here deserves to lose their job as through their vote they not only spat on marriage, but in the face of their constituents.

PolitiFact: Jon Stewart Falsely Claimed Fox News Viewers ‘Most Consistently Misinformed’

Nothing beats backs liberals better than facts:
The Truth-O-Meter has rendered its verdict, and Jon Stewart’s come up short. PolitiFact, the Pulitzer Prize winning fact-checking site, has evaluated Stewart’s statement in an interview on Fox News where he asked, “who are the most consistently misinformed media viewers?” Stewart said to Fox’s Chris Wallace. “The most consistently misinformed? Fox, Fox viewers, consistently, every poll.”

PolitiFact based its verdict on an extensive analysis of recent surveys of Fox News viewers, including a 2007 political knowledge survey by the Pew Research Center, and a 2008 media survey by the University of Maryland’s Program on International Policy Attitudes.

The analysis is worth a read, and broken down in significant detail, but the conclusion is this: Fox viewers may not be the best informed, but they aren’t the most misinformed:

We have three Pew studies that superficially rank Fox viewers low on the well-informed list, but in several of the surveys, Fox isn’t the lowest, and other general-interest media outlets — such as network news shows, network morning shows and even the other cable news networks — often score similarly low. Meanwhile, particular Fox shows — such as The O’Reilly Factor and Sean Hannity’s show — actually score consistently well, occasionally even outpacing Stewart’s own audience.

Gay Mafia Makes Sure Tracy Morgan's Sad, Groveling Act Continues And Continues

Pathetic. But then the gay mafia found the perfect whipping boy in picking on a none-too-bright, black comedian who owes his whole career to befriending white liberals. Next week Tracy will announce that he's gay too:
Comedian Tracy Morgan, heart full of love, is continuing to issue public apologies for comments he made during a recent performance in Nashville, including telling his audience that he would kill his son were he ever to come out as gay. Shortly after one of that night’s audience members criticized Morgan’s statements in a Facebook note, Morgan stated that he was not a “hateful person,” and that while his “friends know what is in my heart,” he went “too far” that evening. Later, Morgan performed a 180, coming out in support of same-sex marriage and telling Russell Simmons that he would try to love his hypothetical gay son (Mind you, gay women are simply not a part of this conversation.) “even more” than if he were straight.

Now, Morgan has returned to Nashville to apologize not only to Kevin, the man who posted the original Facebook note and brought mass media attention to Morgan’s rant, but also to other audience members (despite reports that not everyone in attendance that night reacted to his statements with contempt or offense), his friends, his family, and “everyone in every community” whom he may have offended. Morgan likens his change of heart to fellow comedian Richard Pryor’s experience visiting Africa and noting that, although he often used the word “nigger” in his act, he “didn’t see any niggers in Africa” and was thus inspired to change his relationship to that particular word. (Personally, I don’t find the two situations particularly comparable, but that’s a rant for another day. Or for LiveJournal, I guess.)

Chris Christie Shouts Down Woman, No Wonder Women Don't Like Him

I mean, was this really necessary? To me, the lady asked an innocent question that deserved a proper response esp. if an elected official is going to make a policy move that not only affects her, but may be hypocritical of said pol's own decision-making when it comes to his family (consider too that Barry got critiqued from the Right for the very same thing). Yet, Christie disrespect and shouts down the woman. Any wonder why so many people compare him to (fairly, temper-wise) Tony Soprano, much less why women are getting less and less enchanted with the governor? Interesting:
Disapproval from women drives New Jersey Gov. Christopher Christie to a slightly negative 44 - 47 percent job approval rating, his lowest grade ever, but he's doing better than most governors in other states surveyed by Quinnipiac University.

Women disapprove of the job Gov. Christie is doing 54 - 36 percent, while men approve 53 - 39 percent, a 17-point gender gap, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds. Approval is 76 - 15 percent among Republicans and 47 - 44 percent among independent voters, while Democrats disapprove 75 - 17 percent.

Supreme Court Sides With Walmart

The right decision. These kind of large, class-action lawsuits are not only without merit, but all they mostly compensate are greedy lawyers:
The Supreme Court put the brakes on a massive job discrimination lawsuit against mega-retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc., saying the plaintiffs had not shown justification for sweeping class-action status that could have potentially involved hundreds of thousands of current and former female workers.

The 5-4 ruling Monday -- which addressed the claims in the lawsuit only in terms of whether they supported such a huge a class action -- was a big victory for the nation's largest private employer, and the business community at large.

The high-profile case-- perhaps the most closely watched of the high court's term -- is among the most important dealing with corporate versus worker rights that the justices have ever heard, and could eventually affect nearly every private employer, large and small.

"On the facts of the case," wrote Justice Antonin Scalia for the majority, the plaintiffs had to show "significant proof that Wal-Mart operated under a general policy of discrimination. That is entirely absent here."

He added, "In a company of Wal-Mart's size and geographical scope, it is quite unbelievable that all managers would exercise their discretion in a common way without some common direction."

While this particular class action has effectively ended, the individual plaintiffs could band together and file a series of smaller lawsuits aimed at individual stores or supervisors.
