GOP, Tea Party Needs To Distance Itself From Ignorant Racist Marilyn Davenport

TheProvince.com:
A Tea Party activist in California circulated an email depicting U.S. President Barack Obama and his parents as chimpanzees with the statement: "Now you know why -no birth certificate!"

Marilyn Davenport, who is a member of the Orange County Republican Party, resisted calls for her resignation, claiming she was not a racist and had been joking.

The email contained a picture of the U.S. president superimposed over a baby chimpanzee with two adults of the species, with reference to the theory that Obama is not eligible to be president because he was born outside America.

Scott Baugh, chairman of the county party, called on Davenport to resign from its central committee after receiving the email, saying that it was "dripping with racism and is in very poor taste."

Refusing to step down, Davenport said: "I'm sorry if my email offended anyone, I simply found it amusing regarding the character of Obama and all the questions surrounding his origin of birth. In no way did I even consider the fact he's half black when I sent out the email."

Tim Whitacre, a county Republican committee member, defended Davenport, whom he called "a polite, gentle grandmother."
As much as the Left is known to exploit and create "racism" any chance they get in order to keep those they deem as nothing but "victims" on their side, it doesn't mean that real racism no longer exists here and abroad. Thus, considering that Barack Obama has given us a host of reasons to not get reelected in 2012, the idea that some members of the GOP still find 'Obama = monkey' jokes as "funny" just adds extra fodder to the thought that when it comes to race Republicans in this country still have a lot of work to do. That said, the GOP and the Tea Party need to come out and condemn Marilyn Davenport's actions here for what they are: racist. I mean really, why would you want someone this blatantly ignorant representing your brand anyway?

  1. It's a very sad thing when the president have to be subjected to racist jokes in his presidency, and as black americans when have had to endure racism throughout our lives. Some say we have come a lone ways from the days when we of these Jim Crow laws was apart of life. Their are some who think this hatred is founded in the south, and throughout my travel I have seen it throughout this great country of our. Racism will always be apart of life because some men can't let go, and they find walking in darkness appealing. When we truly find the Lord and accept Him as our only true living God,and ask Him to clean out hearts, and pour into us a righteous spirit. Have a spiritual relationship with Lord you will find theirs know room in your life for unclean thoughts.

I find what Marilyn Davenport did very offensive and it finally shows how Republicans actually feel about President Obama. They want to say that their differences are not because of the color of his skin? Well thanks to Marilyn Davenport's actions the Republicans have shown their true colors.
