Allen West Calls Civil Rights Icon John Lewis A "Hypocrite"

That would be the same John Lewis who lied about being spat on by Tea Party activists, just shameful:
Civil Rights Icon John Lewis, admitting he didn’t know the facts of the case, proceeded to defend Charlie Rangel against his ethics violations by dredging up Rangel’s involvement in the Civil Rights movement. I guess the facts of the case or rather the actual ethics violations themselves don’t matter to John Lewis if you are one of his friends. Yet Allen West says that while he was being viciously attacked during his recent campaign, having his social security number mailed to all of his constituents and being accused of being a member of an all white motorcycle gang, that John Lewis came down and campaigned against him, supporting the man who was playing the race card and egregiously smearing him. West sees this as duplicitous and asks if instead of defending Charlie Rangel, Lewis should have stood on character.

West also has strong words for the Congressional Black Caucus that he criticizes for ‘preaching victimization and dependency’ while supporting ‘liberal social welfare policies that are failing in the black community’.

It’s been a long time in coming, but I am so happy to see Allen West, a man of character and principle, not only taking on the Congressional Black Caucus but the liberal policies of the Left in his new capacity as a congressman. This will be a fight worth watching.

Mike Huckabee Mulls Another Run For White House

Newsmax.com:
Former Arkansas Gov. and 2008 presidential candidate Mike Huckabee lands near the top of the polls among potential Republican presidential candidates for 2012. And he may well stick his hat in the ring, Politico reports.

In an interview with WHO radio in Des Moines, Iowa, Huckabee said he might run but only if he sees evidence of a clear path to victory.

"I'm not ruling it out. And that's not a yes, but it's definitely not a no," says Huckabee, now a Fox News commentator. "The honest answer is I'm keeping it open as an option. I'm looking at whether or not there's a pathway to victory. As I've told several people, I'm not jumping into a pool when there's no water in it."

Why Sarah Palin Shouldn't Run

Townhall.com:
By telling Barbara Walters that she thinks she can defeat President Obama, Sarah Palin has dimmed hopes cherished by sensible Republicans that she might decide against a run for the White House in 2012. Here are just some of the reasons she should not run.

The Republican nominee should be someone with vast and impressive experience in government and the private sector -- and a proven record. Voters chose a novice with plenty of star power in 2008 and will be inclined to swing strongly in the other direction in 2012. Americans will be looking for sober competence, managerial skill, and maturity, not sizzle and flash.

After the 2008 campaign revealed her weaknesses on substance, Palin was advised by those who admire her natural gifts to bone up on policy and devote herself to governing Alaska successfully. Instead, she quit her job as governor after two and a half years, published a book (another is due next week), and seemed to chase money and empty celebrity. Now, rather than being able to highlight the accomplishments of Sarah Palin's Alaska, we get "Sarah Palin's Alaska," another cheesy entrant in the reality show genre. She'd so much rather be out dog sledding than in some "dull political office," she tells the audience. File that.

She is wildly popular with a swath of the Republican electorate, it's true. And, as a conservative woman politician told me, the consultants (who get paid the big bucks win or lose) will doubtless descend upon her with game plans showing how she can win in Iowa and then cruise to the nomination. Maybe. But the general election would be a problem, since 53 percent of independent voters view Palin unfavorably, according to a recent Gallup poll, along with 81 percent of Democrats.

There is no denying that Sarah Palin has been harshly, sometimes even brutally treated by the press and the news/entertainment gaggle. But any prominent Republican must expect some of that and be able to transcend it. She compares herself to Reagan. But Reagan didn't mud wrestle with the press. Palin seems consumed and obsessed by it, as her rapid Twitter finger attests, and thus encourages the sniping. She should be presiding over meetings on oil and gas leases in the North Slope, or devising alternatives to Obamacare. Every public spat with Dave Letterman or Politico, or the "lamestream media," or God help us, Levi Johnston, diminishes her.
The GOP better hope she doesn't run in 2012.

Joe Scarborough Suspended By MSNBC For Two Days Over Campaign Donations

Done in by the same slime on the Left he often defends:
Fans of Keith Olbermann who were upset that he was suspended by MSNBC President Phil Griffin over campaign donations often pointed to similar donations made by Joe Scarborough as an example of unfair treatment. Well it appears that the treatment is now fair according to a Politico report that asserts that Scarborough has been suspended for two days for similar contributions.

Writing for Politico, Kenneth Vogel Reports:
MSNBC said Friday that it is suspending “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough for two days after he acknowledged giving eight previously unknown $500 contributions to friends and family members running for state and local offices during his tenure at the network, a violation of parent NBC’s ban on political contributions by employees without specific permission from the network president. “I recognize that I have a responsibility to honor the guidelines and conditions of my employment, and I regret that I failed to do so in this matter,” Scarborough said in a statement. “I apologize to MSNBC and to anyone who has been negatively affected by my actions,” said, adding that after he was made aware of some of the contributions, he called MSNBC president Phil Griffin “and agreed with Phil’s immediate demand of a two-day suspension without pay.”
The suspension appears to be a direct result of reporting efforts by Politico, who had sought comment from MSNBC after Politico had found “evidence that Scarborough gave at least five separate previously unknown $500 contributions while serving as an MNBC host. Scarborough last tweet before this news broke? “Keep Calm and Carry On:

White House Defends Ghailani Prosecution Amid Criticism of Terror Policy

FOXNews.com:
The White House is pushing back against criticism of its commitment to prosecuting some terror suspects in civilian courts after a federal jury convicted former Guantanamo Bay detainee Ahmed Ghailani on only one of 285 charges.

Ghailani was convicted of conspiring in Al Qaeda's 1998 bombings of two U.S. embassies in Africa and faces a sentence of 20 years to life behind bars. The Justice Department has said it will seek the maximum punishment.

White House chief spokesman Robert Gibbs said Thursday that the administration will use "all the tools at our disposal" to try Guantanamo Bay detainees. But Republicans have seized on the Ghailani verdict as an example why all terror suspects should be prosecuted in military commissions.

"It's time for the administration to listen to the 9/11 families and the American people and change course by putting all terror trials through our military commission system," Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch said in a written statement.

Democrats Slap Charles Rangel On The Wrist, Recommend Censure

Who says Democrats don't get tough when one of their own commits major ethics violations, much less why the recent midterm elections showed an America that wants these bums out of office. I mean really now:
The House ethics committee on Thursday recommended censure for longtime Rep. Charles Rangel, suggesting that the New York Democrat suffer the embarrassment of standing before his colleagues while receiving an oral rebuke by the speaker for financial and fundraising misconduct.

Censure is the most serious congressional discipline short of expulsion. The House, which could change the recommended discipline by making it more serious or less serious, probably will consider the recommendation after Thanksgiving.

The ethics committee voted 9-1 to recommend censure and that Rangel pay any taxes he owes on income from a vacation villa in the Dominican Republic. The five Democrats and five Republicans on the panel deliberated for about three hours behind closed doors.

Earlier, at a sanctions hearing, the 20-term congressman apologized for his misconduct but said he was not a crooked politician out for personal gain. He was in the House hearing room when the ethics committee chairman, Democratic Rep. Zoe Lofgren of California, announced the recommendation.

Rangel said, "I hope you can see your way clear to indicate any action taken by me was not with the intention of bringing any disgrace on the House or enriching myself personally."

'Teen Mom' Star Amber Portwood Charged With Domestic Violence Felonies

CNN.com:
MTV's "Teen Mom" Amber Portwood faces felony domestic violence charges in her Indiana hometown because of incidents on her reality TV show -- where she is seen shoving, punching, slapping and choking her boyfriend, a police spokesman said.

Two of the three charges are felonies because the couple's 1-year-old child apparently witnessed the violence, according to Anderson, Indiana police spokesman Mitch Carroll.

The charges were outlined in a probable cause affidavit filed by police, but Portwood, 20, will not be arrested until the Madison County, Indiana, prosecutor files formal charges, Carroll said.

The investigation began seven weeks ago after MTV aired an episode of the reality series "Teen Mom" showing incidents captured over the summer, he said.

Gary Shirley, the 24-year-old boyfriend, and Portwood gave statements to police last month admitting to the incidents, he said.

"According to police documents, on August 14, 2009, Portwood shoved Shirley against a wall, slapped him on the face and choked him," Carroll said. "The incident was witnessed by the couple's 1-year-old child who sat in a child seat on a nearby bed."
Leave it to MTV to exploit the young, poor, naive and famewhore-seeking youths of the word for their profit margin. I've never watched "Teen Mom", but just from the title alone, sensationalizing young mothers who are clearly not ready for the strains of motherhood is just another chapter of MTV's long line of pushing our youth away from self-responsibility until every dollar is squeezed.

George Soros Throws President Obama Under the Bus to Progressive Donors

Mediaite.com:
Kajillionaire activist, Media Matters funder, and to hear Glenn Beck tell it, Puppetmaster of the coming One World Government George Soros is reportedly pulling on some strings. According to reporting by HuffPo’s Sam Stein, Soros told a private gathering of progressive donors that “Democratic donors (should) direct their support somewhere other than the President.”

An adviser for Soros later told Stein that Soros was not suggesting a primary challenge to President Obama, but given the gurgling to that effect over at Fox News, that denial is not likely to carry too far.

From The Huffington Post:

According to multiple sources with knowledge of his remarks, Soros told those in attendance that he is “used to fighting losing battles but doesn’t like to lose without fighting.”

“We have just lost this election, we need to draw a line,” he said, according to several Democratic sources. “And if this president can’t do what we need, it is time to start looking somewhere else.”

…”Mr. Soros fully supports the president as the leader of the Democratic Party,” said (Soros adviser Michael) Vachon. “He was not suggesting that we seek another candidate for 2012. His comments were made in a private, informal conversation that was about the need for progressives to be more forceful in promoting their agenda. He was stressing the importance of being heard by elected officials.”

The frustration liberals and progressives are feeling toward the Obama administration has mainly to do with the weak signals the White House has been sending about standing up to the post-midterm Congressional Republicans. Vachon’s denial aside, perhaps administration fear of a primary challenge isn’t the worst thing in the world for progressives. As a practical matter, though, it is extremely unlikely that the Democrats would challenge their own incumbent, and certainly not two years out from the Presidemtial election.

Still, the fact that such a move would be political suicide for progressives probably suits Glenn Beck just fine, so look for Beck and other right-of-center media types to puff as much air as possible into this report.
Fail to toe the line and they start looking elsewhere.

Sarah Palin Thinks She Could Beat Obama In 2012

Too divisive and way too far to the Right, then quitting her term as governor (amongst other legitimate gripes) would come back to haunt her on the campaign trail. Unless Barry makes a major screw-up (beyond anything he's doing now) there's no way she beats him in 2012. Hell, the haterade for Palin is so high you got people out there shooting TV sets because of her--now that's something.

George W. Bush's Book 'Decision Points" Sells Like Hotcakes

Newsmax.com:
Apparently former President George W. Bush isn’t as unpopular as Democrats have made him out to be. His new memoir, "Decision Points," has sold more than 775,000 copies in its first week, in addition to 100,000 e-book sales, Politico reports, citing the Associated Press.

With sales soaring so high, the publisher Random House’s Crown Publishers has ordered more books, lifting the total to 1.85 million copies from 1.5 million.

Readers bought more than 220,000 copies in the first day alone, Crown says. That put sales at the highest level since former President Bill Clinton's book "My Life" hit bookstores in 1994. His book sold more than 900,000 copies in its first week.
Despite the Left's best efforts to continue attacking and smearing the man long after his presidency, the people have spoken up on just how much ex -President Bush remains dear to their hearts.

Democrat Congressman Charles Rangel Guilty: House Ethics Panel Rules Misconduct

YahooNews.com:
New York Rep. Charles Rangel, a longtime power in the U.S. House, violated its rules with financial misconduct, brought it discredit and will be punished, fellow lawmakers sitting as jurors ruled on Tuesday.

Protesting the enduring stain on his four-decade congressional career, the 80-year-old Democrat said he was treated unfairly for "good faith mistakes." His statement reflected the bitterness of an eight-month career slide, starting with an unrelated ethics ruling that forced him from his coveted chairmanship of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee.

The conduct often cited by critics was his failure to report income to the IRS from a unit he owned in a Dominican Republic resort — showing the chairman in charge of tax legislation shortchanged the IRS.

Rangel, a founder of the Congressional Black Caucus, remains a political kingpin in New York's famed Harlem neighborhood and is unlikely to resign. He won re-election earlier this month.

Convicted on 11 of 13 charges of rules violations, his ordeal isn't finished.
Long overdue.

Vicious Infighting at NBC News Over Keith Olbermann

All aghast over the narcissistic, bloviating, real head of MSNBC:

MSNBC’s president vowed to fire Keith Olbermann after he threatened to take his case to other networks. Howard Kurtz on the civil war that has NBC brass—and his own staff—fuming.

Keith Olbermann was having dinner with his manager at an Upper East Side restaurant, chewing over their battle to lift his suspension at MSNBC, when Phil Griffin called.

Michael Price stepped out of the Atlantic Grill to talk to MSNBC’s president, leaving his client with a platter of 18 oysters. It was Sunday, Nov. 7, and Price informed Griffin that if they couldn’t resolve their differences quickly, Olbermann would take his complaints public by accepting invitations from Good Morning America, David Letterman, and Larry King.

“Why are you putting us in the position where you’re daring us to do this?” Price demanded, his voice rising.
“If you go on GMA, I will fire Keith,” Griffin shot back. Such a move was clearly grounds for dismissal.

The manager returned to the restaurant. He and Olbermann, who had been pushing hard to end the suspension the next day, discussed whether they would be burning bridges by carrying out the threat. Minutes later, their phones buzzed with emails from reporters, asking about a statement that NBC had just released.

Olbermann, it said, would be allowed to return to his prime-time show on Tuesday—a day later than he had wanted.

Price called Griffin again. “What compelled you to do that in that way?” he asked.

“We are at war,” Griffin responded.

If so, it was a war that had spread beyond the principal combatants to many of the journalists who work at NBC and MSNBC. From the moment Olbermann was found to have donated money to three Democratic candidates, there has been a deepening sense of anger and frustration among his colleagues, according to interviews with eight knowledgeable sources. These sources, who declined to be quoted by name because of the sensitivity of the situation, say that several of NBC’s front-line stars, including Tom Brokaw, have expressed concern to management that Olbermann has badly damaged MSNBC’s reputation for independence.  (NBC and MSNBC executives declined to comment, and Olbermann declined to be interviewed.)

Network staffers use phrases like “scorched-earth policy” and “totally narcissistic response” to describe how Olbermann has dealt with criticism of his political donations. A recurring theme is that he has made it impossible for MSNBC to argue that it is journalistically different from Fox News, which has no prohibition against political donations by such commentators and talk-show hosts as Sean Hannity and Karl Rove. The word hypocrisy has frequently been aimed at Olbermann.

California Supreme Court Rules Illegal Immigrants Entitled To In-State Tuition

Really now, with decisions like these what's the point in becoming a citizen anymore?
The California Supreme Court decided unanimously Monday that illegal immigrants may continue to be eligible for in-state tuition rates at the state's colleges and universities rather than pay the higher rates charged to those who live out of state.

In a ruling written by Justice Ming W. Chin, one of the panel's more conservative members, the state high court said a California law that guarantees the lower tuition for students who attend California high schools for at least three years and graduate does not conflict with a federal prohibition on giving illegal immigrants educational benefits based on residency.

California is one of several states that permit illegal immigrants to take advantage of lower college tuition for students who attend high school and graduate in state. About 25,000 illegal immigrants are estimated to receive in-state tuition rates in California.

A group fighting illegal immigration challenged the California law on behalf of U.S. citizens who pay the higher tuition as out-of-state students. The group won in lower court, and the state appealed.

Charlie Rangel Walks Out Of Ethics Trial

CNN.com:
The House panel looking into ethics accusations against a key Democratic representative stopped deliberations for the day late Monday afternoon and will return to its executive session deliberations Tuesday morning.

Embattled Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-New York, walked out of the House ethics subcommittee trial on Monday, complaining he has not had sufficient time to hire a new legal team to respond to corruption allegations.

The subcommittee rejected Rangel's request to delay the hearing until a new defense team is assembled.

Rangel faces 13 allegations, include failing to pay taxes on a home in the Dominican Republic, misuse of a rent-controlled apartment for political purposes and improper use of government mail service and letterhead.

"Fifty years of public service is on the line. And I truly believe that I am not being treated fairly," he declared. "I deserve a lawyer."

Rangel told the subcommittee members he has already spent $2 million defending himself from the charges, and had been advised the trial could cost him another $1 million.

He complained that he was not being given enough time to raise funds to hire new lawyers because the committee was rushing to complete its work before the conclusion of the current lame-duck Congress.

Rangel's original defense team left him in September.
As much as he's abused the system as well as any shed of integrity and this guy complains? What a joke.

Erika Winchester, Racist, Gets Mailman Fired . . . No Response From Race-Baiters Al Sharpton Or Jesse Jackson

Mediaite.com:
Poor racists. In this digital age, they can’t even go on an old-fashioned, bigoted rant without having it secretly recorded, uploaded onto the Internet, and seen around the world. The Hingham, MA, woman below may not be a celebrity on par with Michael Richards or Mel Gibson, but her obscenely racist and eventually violent tirade against a postman is making her famous in her own way. Oh, and the recipient of the ugly tirade? He allegedly lost his job because of it. Wait, what?

In the video below, the customer becomes enraged when her mail carrier refuses to take back a certified letter that she had signed for but no longer wants. This prompts her to tell him that he’s a “f*cking ni**er thief”; that he “killed Martin Luther King, Jr.” because black people always turn on each other; that she’s his leader and could “lock him up for life”; that blacks are intellectually inferior to whites; and that, of course, she’s “not prejudiced.” The patient man on the other end of this is secretly recording the not-prejudiced woman with his cell-phone camera, which gets momentarily knocked out of place when the woman reaches in and apparently slaps him.

The poster on YouTube claims to have been fired over this incident, writing:

This woman is outrageous — I am still waiting for US Postal Inspection Service to investigate this matter. it has been a year since postmaster fired me for this racist lady, and Hingham court let her go free, no trial.

While getting fired over this incident seems outrageous, it is worth noting that Massachusetts is a so-called “two-party” state, which means that one cannot legally record audio (you can video) without both persons consent.
Funny how when some real racism occurs Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the whole lot of race-baiters on the Left seem to never be around, much less heard from.

Michael Moore To Democrats: “You Can’t Keep Blaming [Bush]” For National Woes

Mediaite.com:
One of the Old Guard has begun to change his tune: Michael Moore is calling for a moratorium on blaming President Bush. Well, sort of. On last night’s Real Time, Moore told his co-panelists and host Bill Maher that blaming the Bush administration for America’s problems will not make them go away, nor, two years later, is it a valuable excuse.

Debating the pitfalls of the Clinton administration (which Maher argued turned the Democrats into “a second corporatist party” during Clinton’s second term), Moore made the point that he strongly believed a similar turn during Obama’s possible second term would be extremely destructive to the party. In response, Rep. Joe Sestak, who was on the panel, mentioned the damage done under the Bush administration. Moore refused to accept that as a sufficient excuse for the delay in progress:

“No one’s forgetting the fact that this frat boy totally destroyed this country economically, our standing around the world– we all get that. But it’s two years later, and you can’t keep blaming the people who created the mess. Yes, we’ll never stop being pissed at Bush for what he did. But right now we’ve got to fix this, and you guys– the Democrats and Obama– have to be the ones that do it. If you do it– if you actually get in there and do it– you’ll have everybody behind you all the way.”

Hearing as staunch a detractor of the Bush administration sound the horn for moving on from the first eight years of the century is a new development on the left, and perhaps in part due to passing the halfway point of the midterm elections. It will be interesting to see how many public figures on the left adopt Moore’s suggestions.
Shocker.
