Stunned Fox News Executive On Obama: “We Are So In His Head”

Mediaite.com:
News Corp’s recent donation to the Republican Governors Association given editorial positions at, in particular, Fox News certainly turned heads among Democrats and gave President Obama even more fodder to challenge the company. Yet in light of all the criticism, it seems that the only thing they’re surprised about at Fox News is that the president cares about them at all.

Speaking with an unnamed executive while researching the motivations behind News Corps’ donation, The New York Times’ Jim Rutenberg mined a gemstone of a quote that expresses something quite far from the fear or concern a news organization in any other country would feel when the current White House administration is so preoccupied with what’s going in within:

An executive at Fox News who agreed to be interviewed on the condition of anonymity expressed “astonishment” over Mr. Obama’s focus on the network. “We are so in his head,” he said. “Can you believe with all the other things going on in this world he’s preoccupied with Fox News?”

This in light of a recent lawsuit entertained in court nearly two years after being dropped on the part of a Fox News employee citing discriminatory employment practices, and further reports that it’s not just News Corp that functions as a major political donor. It appears not only that Fox News is not worried that their business will be hindered by their political activism, but that their political activism as noticed by the White House is at the very least shocking and, at most, a bit of a badge of honor.

NBC owner General Electric, for example, has donated to the Democratic Governors Association, while Comcast, which is currently in the process of buying NBC, has given to both. This is all legal on both sides, despite the White House’s interest in News Corp’s activities in particular, as neither Governors Association has a right to channel funds into specific campaigns, but rather use them for general costs of functioning.

New York Times Smears Christine O'Donnell

They can't help Democrats win in November by bragging about anything Barry's done so they're left to degrade, insult and smear:
Christine O'Donnell, the surprise winner of Delaware's GOP senate primaries last month has been avoiding the press since her victory over party favorite Mike Castle shocked poll watchers. As the candidate's quirkier past incarnations and incantations began getting wide circulation, and Republican party officials distanced themselves from her campaign, political journalists have been getting stonewalled in their efforts to interview the Tea Party phenom. On Thursday, O'Donnell broke her undeclared boycott of mainstream media to talk the New York Times' Mark Leibovich about "her journey to conservatism," but by Friday her campaign managers were probably wishing she hadn't.

Leading with "liberal laughingstock and perhaps the embodiment of a can-you-top-this-for-bizarre," the paper of record used this first opportunity to question the candidate to note she displayed the "upbeat personality of an aerobics instructor." The column also introduced readers to O'Donnell's family (her father, Daniel, "worked a series of small television roles before scoring his signature gig - playing Bozo the Clown" and her sister, "Jennie, a lesbian who ... has moved temporarily from Los Angeles to help on the campaign," is a "self-described expert in the 'healing arts'").

In response to recent reports about discrepancies in O'Donnell's education and background, the Times informed readers that in her youth the 41-year-old unmarried candidate "planned to become an actress and had a series of romantic relationships" ("I by no means was a slut," she told Leibovich). She also experienced her political awakening as a College Republican ("What I discovered is that I have opinions.")
Hard pressed, apparently, to write anything substantive about the elusive candidate, the Times closed the 1300 word interview with this reassuring tidbit: "She did surprisingly well on a chemistry exam, ... which emboldened her to take a class in Japanese, which she said she aced."
If it's not FOX, better off to just concentrate on your state and not talk to the lamestream media again Christine.

Immigration Lawyers Say Meg Whitman Did Nothing Illegal

Once again, the Left, afraid to address the issues facing Americans, is trying to smear a GOP candidate:
Whether or not Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman received a letter from the Social Security Administration saying her former housekeeper's false documents did not match its records, Whitman did not act unlawfully by keeping the housekeeper employed, immigration lawyers said Thursday.

In fact, had she gone ahead and fired Nicandra Diaz Santillan based on such a letter, she would have exposed herself to potential anti-discrimination violations, lawyers said.

Whitman says she wasn't aware of receiving a "no-match" letter.

Lawyers said an employer's obligation upon receiving a no-match letter from the Social Security Administration is to check their own records for typographical or other errors, inform the employee that the records do not match and tell the employee to correct them.

"There is no additional legal obligation for an employer to follow up or respond to SSA with new information," said Gening Liao, a labor and employment attorney at the National Immigration Law Center in Los Angeles, which defends immigrants.

Rick Sanchez Fired From CNN

Glenn Beck was right, this guy really was a moron:
CNN released this statement today:

“Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well.“

They will broadcast CNN Newsroom from 3-5pm for the foreseeable future.

Here’s more from the story earlier today:
CNN’s Rick Sanchez is not happy with being made fun of constantly on The Daily Show and Colbert Report. It is from this jumping off point that he absolutely unleashed on Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, and at times his own network, on Pete Dominick’s satellite radio show yesterday.
The big takeaway – Sanchez calls Stewart “a bigot,” then walks it back a bit, and he implies CNN is run by Jews.
Dominick was not just a radio show host – he is a CNN contributor who has a regular gig on John King, USA (more on that below), and he formerly was the warm up comic at The Daily Show. Which is why when Sanchez says “I think Jon Stewart’s a bigot” early in the interview, Dominick pushed back:
Dominick: How is he a bigot?
Sanchez: I think he looks at the world through, his mom, who was a school teacher, and his dad, who was a physicist or something like that. Great, I’m so happy that he grew up in a suburban middle class New Jersey home with everything you could ever imagine.
Dominick: What group is he bigoted towards?
Sanchez: Everybody else who’s not like him. Look at his show, I mean, what does he surround himself with?

Fox News Says Years-Old Discrimination Lawsuit Is “Politically Motivated” By Obama Administration

Mediaite.com:
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a complaint yesterday against Fox News for a gender and age discrimination case dating back to 2007.

The FNC correspondent, Catherine Herridge, is still an employee with the company, and the network is responding strongly today – calling the suit “politically motivated.”

Mediaite has a statement from Dianne Brandi, Executive Vice President, Legal & Business Affairs for Fox News. In part, she says, “The EEOC’s suspiciously timed press release is nothing more than a partisan statement about a politically motivated lawsuit.” (Full statement is below.) Here’s more about the backstory of yesterday’s EEOC release, from Politico:
According to the complaint, in 2007, she made several complaints to Fox management alleging she had been discriminated against for her age and gender. Fox investigated but found no evidence of discrimination. The next year, the company asked her to sign a contract including language that she would not pursue further discrimination complaints, which she refused.
The suit alleges that the language in the new contract was retaliatory, and Herridge’s subsequent status as an “at-will’ employee caused her “considerable stress.”
But according to Brandi, the case was resolved in March 2010, with the EEOC saying at the time, “there is insufficient evidence to establish a violation of the statutes as to these allegations.” Also, Herridge is clearly still an employee with the company – the image above is from her reporting on the network today. Also, A Fox executive tells Mediaite, “the EEOC’s press release omits the fact that Herridge demanded to be paid in excess of $900,000 (a 96% increase) in the first year of her proposed new contract with escalating salary increases thereafter, and that’s why her new deal was not signed until June 2009. When her salary demands became more reasonable, the contract was signed.” Sources in a position to know say Herridge is among the D.C. bureau’s highest paid correspondents, making more than $500,000 a year.

Rahm Emanuel Quits, But Is He Eligible To Be Mayor Of Chicago?

Funny that he didn't clear up this matter before he quit, that's if he's really running for mayor:
Attorney Burt Odelson, a noted elction-law expert, is predicting Rahm Emanuel will be ineligible for mayor because he is not a legal resident of Chicago.

Odelson told Roe and Roeper on WLS Radio that when Emanuel leased out his Chicago home he could no longer claim he is a resident.

“He rented his house out in Sept 09 and has not been back since and has no residency in Chicago,” Odelson said.

Odelson says he has been involved in several residency cases in Illinois that “the law is clear.”

Bill Maher On The Factor, Part II: The Two Bills Clash On Religion

Mediaite.com:
After a pointed but down-to-earth conversation last night, Bill O’Reilly and Bill Maher had a more spirited (and probably more compelling) discussion on religion on tonight’s O’Reilly Factor. The two probably have even more wildly differing views on religion than politics, and they got a bit louder than last night, but like their previous segment, showed a refreshing ability not to descend into complete chaos when they don’t see eye-to-eye.

Not that things didn’t get animated – it was clear things would when O’Reilly teased the segment by saying, “Calling religious people ‘morons.’ That’s what Bill Maher is doing, and we will challenge him.” Even if Maher didn’t quite do that literally, he implied something similar with lines like, “Faith is “the purposeful suspension of critical thinking,” and “If it’s your perfect holy book written by God, why is there stuff in there that makes no sense?”

O’Reilly disputed this point, saying the Bible “is allegorical…designed to teach a greater truth that apparently has eluded you.” A central theme to that greater truth? In O’Reilly’s words, “Don’t call [your neighbor] stupid because they don’t agree with you politically.” He was VERY pleased with himself on this line. Maher, though, got in a pretty good crack of his own when he said, “If Jesus was in charge of the country we’d probably have health care for everybody.”

There were some strikes against both: O’Reilly drastically over-generalized the theory of evolution, and when he said Maher is “not noble” for mocking people of faith, he had a point – it wouldn’t hurt Maher to tone down his anti-organized-religion rhetoric a tad every now and again.

But mostly, this was another entertaining discussion conducted more rationally than many like it. And despite that “not noble” critique, O’Reilly does seem to have a bit of fondness for Maher, saying you “have to give him credit for debating.” Indeed, the last two nights it’s produced some good television.

Black Conservative Group Offers $5,000 Scholarships To Students "Denied" Funds By Democrat Rep. Sanford Bishop

AlbanyHerald.com:

In the latest twist involving Rep. Sanford Bishop, Jr., D-Albany, and the questionable awarding of Congressional Black Caucus Foundation scholarships to relatives or people associated with his wife, Vivian, a Black conservative organization has jumped into the mix.

Timothy F. Johnson, Chairman and Founder of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, yesterday announced that the foundation would offer a $5,000 scholarship to any student who applied for a CBCF scholarship through Bishop, and was denied. The FDF said an unnamed supporter has committed the funds to help students in need.

Bishop's office has acknowledged awarding scholarship money to relatives and those with connections to staffers in his office. He has since repaid the CBCF $6,350, and the foundation has amended its rules to prohibit the practice.

"Congressman Bishop should be ashamed at himself for funneling scholarship money to relatives and friends, instead of those students in his district who need them most," Johnson said. "And in order for the Frederick Douglass Foundation to truly put our money where our mouths are, we're offering a $5,000 scholarship for any student who comes forward from Congressman Bishop's district and can prove they were denied a CBC scholarship."
Picking up after those affected by the culture of corrupt Democrats are left hanging, conservatives need to do more of this.

Sarah Palin Granted Emergency Restraining Order Against 18-Year-Old Stalker

Mediaite.com:
Looks like the Mama Grizzly is starting to cover her tracks – and with good reason. An Alaska court has granted Sarah Palin an emergency restraining order against Shawn R. Christy, an 18-year-old Pennsylvanian whom Palin characterizes thusly: “Bottom line is, he is crazy and could kill me. He wants me dead.”

That statement, from a court testimony that the AP reported late yesterday, stems from the numerous threats Christy has allegedly made to Palin. The Pennsylvania teen is said to have contacted her via phone and written letters (which, in these digital days, is a real sign of menace) and sent her a receipt of a gun he bought. Along with the proof of his purchase, he allegedly told her that he was buying a one-way ticket to Alaska. He is also reported to have written that he “is trying to follow God but has evil in him.”

Such disturbing allegations were enough for an Alaskan judge to issue “a 20-day restraining order, barring Christy from having any contact with Palin’s family and requiring him to stay at least a mile away from her Wasilla, Alaska, home.”
Guy's probably a DailyKos commenter.

CNN's John King Bashes Obama for Calling Fox 'Destructive' and MSNBC 'Invaluable'

Newsbusters.org:
CNN's John King on Wednesday mocked Barack Obama for calling Fox News a "destructive" force in our society while at practically the same time a White House spokesman was saying MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow provide "an invaluable service" to the country.

As NewsBusters reported Tuesday, the President bashed FNC in a just-published interview with Rolling Stone magazine shortly before his Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton was praising MSNBC during a gaggle held on Air Force One.

With this in mind, on Wednesday's "John King USA," the host surprisingly derided the White House's inconsistency.

Olympia Snowe Courts Tea Party Early For 2012 Re-election

Newsmax.com:
After seeing what tea-party-backed candidates did to moderate Republicans in primary elections, moderate Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe is taking no chances. The Maine senator is talking up the tea party movement, even though she’s not up for re-election until 2012, Roll Call reports.

“I’ve been a Republican for all of my political life, since I was registered to vote,” she told the paper. “I’ve been at the forefront of a number of anti-spending initiatives [and] fiscal issues. I agree with tea-party types when they say that the Republican Party lost its way. I agree. I was arguing that case for many years.”
The Republican Party should serve as a big tent, Snowe says. “It’s where I grew up. It’s where I grew in the Legislature in learning how to govern and how to legislate — which is to build bridges. That’s what Maine has been all about.”
Shocking.

Bill O'Reilly Proves Just How Liberal Bill Maher Really Is

To think Bill Maher still refers to himself as being a "libertarian", but in the past week Andrew Breitbart and now Bill O'Reilly have proven what conservatives have long known: Maher belongs on MSNBC, not HBO:
It was a much-anticipated clash of pundits on both sides of the political aisle when Bill O’Reilly had Real Time’s Bill Maher on the Factor tonight in the No Spin Zone. They disagreed on plenty (of course), but they managed to keep it (mostly) civil – and O’Reilly even laughed at a few of Maher’s lines.

O’Reilly teased the interview early in the program by saying Maher “doesn’t much like you if you’re conservative.” But Maher didn’t seem to have tons of love for the Democrats, either, saying they deserve the “lion’s share” of the blame for Obama’s mediocre poll numbers. (He did get in a “teabaggers” reference, though.)

The two disagreed on whether Barack Obama is the biggest-spending president ever, and whether there’s a racial element to vehement opposition to Obama. But of course, O’Reilly’s and Maher’s most fundamental difference is in personal political philosophy. Maher shared his idea on what’s become of both sides:
“At some point in the last 20 years, the left moved to the center, and the right moved into a mental institution.”
Maher also called the idea of extremism on both ends of political spectrum a “canard,” while O’Reilly said, “If you can’t see the extremism on both sides, I’m flabbergasted.” Maher then allowed there’s “some” extremism on the left, but it’s negligible.

Analysis: Nancy Pelosi's Ethics Pledge Unfulfilled

CBSNews.com:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi promised four years ago that Democrats would lead "the most honest, most open, most ethical Congress in history."

But as her party defends its record with its majority in jeopardy, two prominent Democrats await ethics trials. Two other party members gave Congressional Black Caucus Foundation scholarships to relatives. Most importantly, lobbyists, corporations and special interests still have unimpeded ways to buy access to members of Congress.

Take House Majority Whip James Clyburn's annual charity golf tournament, which provides college scholarships for needy students in his South Carolina district and funds the endowment he established at South Carolina State University.

It sounds like a worthy cause, but it's a stretch to believe that national companies which sponsored the event randomly chose students in the 6th District of South Carolina as a priority for charitable giving.

"It really doesn't matter what the money is used for," says Fred Wertheimer, who heads the Congress-watching private group Democracy 21. "If you're asked to provide a large amount of money for something that is important to a member, you are doing a financial favor for the member. That benefit buys influence."

Wertheimer credits Pelosi with going far beyond previous speakers, saying she changed what Democrats once called a "culture of corruption" under Republican rule.

Yet, her reforms didn't touch access-buying opportunities like campaign fundraisers, corporate-sponsored events for informal lawmaker organizations, or sports tournaments held by members' charities.

'Red Eye' Host Greg Gutfeld Rips 'Crybaby-in-Chief' Obama for Rebuke of Fox News

Newsbusters.org:
Lately the Fox News Channel’s overnight program “Red Eye” has offered a plethora of media criticism – much of it dead-spot on. Last week during this his “Gregalogue” segment, host Greg Gutfeld took on the so-called “Rally to Restore Sanity” offered up by Comedy Central hosts Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.

On the Sept. 29 broadcast of his show “Red Eye,” Gutfeld responded to President Barack Obama’s comments about Fox News he made during a recent interview.

“So President Obama was just interviewed in Rolling Stone magazine -- that thinning pamphlet for our country's dwindling supply of pony-tailed pensioners,” Gutfeld said. “When asked about Fox News, this is what our Commander-in-Chief had to say.”
For all the talk about conservatives lacking humor, "Red Eye" disproves that myth with every show.

Chris Christie: “We May Have To Fire Lousy Teachers”

HotAir.com:
Chris Christie continues his drive for reform in education by releasing a tough new plan aimed at wresting control of schools away from unions and giving it back to the parents. The CBS affiliate in New York calls this a “tough love” approach, but that’s perhaps underselling it a bit. Christie wants to test the teachers to ensure that they comprehend the core skills in math and reading that they are expected to teach, and to rid the schools of those who don’t make the cut. The reason? Poor teachers hurt children, Christie explains:

Former Queen Of All Liberals Cindy Sheehan Admits To Being A 9/11 Truther

Eyeblast.TV.com:
On the day before the 9th anniversary of the Sep. 11 terrorist attacks, Cindy Sheehan, the darling protester the media gave plenty of coverage to due to her opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, spoke to a crowd at All Souls Church in Manhattan, stating that she is a 9/11 truther and believes it was an inside job. “I am a 9/11 truther”, Sheehan said. “I do believe it was an inside job.”

She continued, “We just don’t know – I don’t know – how far inside it went. But, you know, I’m sure Dick Cheney had something to do with it.” Her statements were met with a standing ovation from the crowd.

She also claimed that Barack Obama is doing everything he can to “protect the criminals of the Bush regime.”
Cindy Sheehan: what was once a courageous woman exploited by the Left while mourning the loss of her son has turned into a haphazard publicity stunt as well as a joke. Sad.

Shocker: MSNBC's Contessa Brewer Takes Alan Grayson To Task For Lying, Smear Ad Against GOP Opponent

HotAir.com:
We criticize MSNBC enough for its naked advocacy on behalf of the Democrats and Barack Obama, so in all fairness, we should note that they do have limits … and Alan Grayson apparently found them. Contessa Brewer engages Grayson on his disgraceful, dishonest “Taliban Dan” smear and — to her credit — refuses to let him off the hook for it. At one point, Grayson accuses Brewer of distracting attention from women’s issues, but Brewer fires back and tells Grayson that he approved the ad and its own off-message smears and out-of-context quotes. If Grayson was serious about the issues, Brewer asks, why not just stick to the issues rather than issue an ad rated “false” by Factcheck?
Finally, MSNBC does some constructive, critical criticism of a far-Left loon. Maybe more of this might help boost their abysmal ratings.

Angry Liberal Protestor Tries To Attack John McCain

AOLNews.com:
John McCain has had some close calls in his political career so far, but his latest was probably a bit too close for comfort.

The former maverick and current Arizona senator was physically confronted by a protester at the conclusion of a televised debate with the challengers to his seat in the upcoming midterm elections (Democrat Rodney Glassman, Green Party candidate Jerry Joslyn and Libertarian candidate David Nolan).

Described as a peace activist and bearing a sign, the protester strode toward McCain on his way out of the KTVK television studios in Phoenix before McCain's security team tackled her. Still, she continued to chant "John McCain has got to go," NECN and KTVK networks reported.
These are the kind of people that Barack Obama speaks to when formulating his radically-Leftist agenda. But hey, maybe she didn't know that not only have Democrats been in charge for the last 4 years, but they're the ones who chose to continue the wars she's supposedly fighting against.

Former Contributor Mayhill Fowler Says Huffington Post Hardly Paid For Her Work

Apparently this has long been a huge complaint about Barry's favorite website....they don't pay their writers:
After a very public and somewhat controversial exit from the HuffPo, Mayhill Fowler has published an article titled “Why I Left The Huffington Post” on her personal blog. The citizen journalist’s post primarily revolves around one complaint: “I want to be paid for my time and effort.”

The self-proclaimed clueless journalist started contributing to HuffPo in 2007 without pay, as is the norm at a vast number of new-media sites. However, as is also the case at many digital publications, she continued to work without considerable compensation, a fact that has prompted Fowler to brand her resignation as “Bittergate.”

In her post, she: claims that her work for the online publication was “often as good as anything HuffPost’s paid reporters” produce, publishes a presumably private e-mail exchange with HuffPo editor Roy Sekoff (on which Arianna Huffington was CC’d), and offers some sordid commentary on Howard Fineman, who is leaving Newsweek for HuffPo, where he will undoubtedly be paid more than most of what the site’s “6,000 opionators.” Said Fowler:
The Huffington Post just took on Howard Fineman, a fine political pundit and maybe one of the last to leave the sinking ship Newsweek. I predict he will stay about a year. Maybe two. He doesn’t want Newsweek to be the last thing on his resume. He needs some “street cred” in new media. Then he will go on to a university lectureship (Princeton, perhaps) or a think tank or a foundation in order to round out a prestigious career. Likely both Fineman and Huffington are under no illusions about the hire. But here’s the thing from my point of view. So Fineman is getting a six-figure salary. Deserved. But why is there not a quarter of that for me?

Hypocrite Barack Obama Tells Radically Leftist Magazine Rolling Stone That FOX News Is "Destructive"

CBSNews.com:
In this month's cover story for Rolling Stone magazine, President Obama weighs in on the cable network Fox News, saying that while he can't object to the network carrying out its constitutional right to freedom of the press, he thinks it promotes a perspective that is "ultimately destructive for the long-term growth" of America.

"Look, as president, I swore to uphold the Constitution, and part of that Constitution is a free press," Obama laughed, in response to a question from Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner about whether or not Fox News was "a good institution for America and for democracy."

"We've got a tradition in this country of a press that oftentimes is opinionated. The golden age of an objective press was a pretty narrow span of time in our history. Before that, you had folks like Hearst who used their newspapers very intentionally to promote their viewpoints," Mr. Obama said. "I think Fox is part of that tradition -- it is part of the tradition that has a very clear, undeniable point of view."

Mr. Obama, whose relationship with the cable network has in the past been rocky -- former White House communications director Anita Dunn at one point called it "the communications arm of the Republican party" -- made no concessions in regard to his dissatisfaction for the content of the network's coverage.

"It's a point of view that I disagree with," Mr. Obama said in the interview. "It's a point of view that I think is ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class and is competitive in the world."
Put aside the fact of how lame it looks for a sitting President to continue whining about a cable news channel (really Barry, are you so removed from your poor upbringing to realize that there are more pressing concerns on Americans minds than FOX News). Or that recent polls show that while FOX certainly leans Right, other networks like say MSNBC lean further Left. Or that a President with a low approval rating. who has quadrupled our debt, polarized our country like no other (just ask any member of the Tea Party) and has an upcoming midterm election in less than two months (that has Democrat Congress members panicking to the point that they don't even want to be associated with the guy), is worried about what FOX News thinks.

What's most troubling here is that Barry chose Rolling Stone magazine, a music rag that fronts for the radically-leftist views of its publisher Jann Wenner (I should know as I subscribe to RS). Wenner, who also publishes the Sarah Palin-bashing Us Weekly, has long used his rags to bash conservatives and promote a radically-Leftist agenda. For years Wenner (a man who left his wife and kids to have an affair with a man after "discovering" that he was really gay in his late-30s) has used Rolling Stone as a propaganda tool to bash former President George W. Bush. And this is the guy that Barry chooses to go to for a war of words with FOX? Barack Obama is a big, f-cking hypocrite.

Rahm Emanuel All But Certain To Leave White House

Damn, even Barry's good buddies are starting to jump ship:
Three Democratic sources close to Rahm Emanuel tell CNN that the White House chief of staff informed senior colleagues he is all but certain to run for mayor of Chicago, and will leave the White House to take the final exploratory steps.

Close associates are already building a campaign team according to sources.

An announcement by Emanuel is expected to be scheduled for Friday, sources said.

One of the sources, a prominent Democrat close to the White House chief of staff, told CNN, "We see nothing that will stop a run. But you don't announce a campaign for mayor of Chicago in Washington, D.C. You leave and go home and finish your business there."

The second source said Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg's research of a possible mayoral run for Emanuel was "very positive. He has some obvious things to deal with, but it was very encouraging."

Asked what the potential issues were, the source said "nothing you wouldn't expect. Just reminding people Chicago always was before Washington."

Ann Coulter: 'Once Scientists Find A Gay Gene, Guess Who's Getting Aborted?'

Mediaite.com:
Never one to shy away from publicity and attention, Ann Coulter headlined gay conservative fundraiser, Homocon, this weekend and everyone is reacting as planned in Coulter’s perfectly choreographed appearance.  Progressives and gays and lesbians are appalled, conservatives are titillated, and GOProud has gotten tons of ink.

The easiest way to read Coulter’s soundbites is to imagine the husky-voiced, bottle-blond in her too-short signature black cocktail dress swigging a Chardonnay and smoking a cigarette.  Even if that’s not how she delivered her speech, it helps understand why her act plays so well on the gay road.

Like a Borscht-belt comedian, Coulter plays to the cheap seats. She’s in on the joke and seems amused that people actually take her schtick seriously.  The fact that she was once kind of a serious pundit who said provocative but interesting things is blurred by the fact that she’s now largely just a publicity machine tossing out red meat to the crowd.

Here’s how Esquire’s Marty Beckerman reported on some of her best comments:
In her speech on Saturday, Coulter says that “not only can gays be conservative, you pretty much have to be,” because they are the “highest income demographic,” because “gays are too stylish to work for the federal government,” because radical Muslims want to execute them, and because “once [scientists] find the gay gene, guess who’s getting aborted?”
Never thought of it that way, gotta love her.

Poll Finds That Only 12% Of Viewers Trust MSNBC For News

Politico.com:
More people are getting their news about the upcoming election from cable television than any other source, and from Fox News more than any other cable channel, according to a POLITICO/George Washington University Battleground Poll released Monday.

The poll found that 81 percent of those polled get their news about the midterm elections from cable channels, like Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, or their websites, compared with 71 percent from national network news channels, such as ABC, NBC or CBS, and their websites.

Among cable news channels, Fox was the clear winner, with 42 percent of respondents saying it is their main source, compared with 30 percent who cited CNN and 12 percent who rely on MSNBC.
Geez, that decision to the total antithesis of FOX just doesn't seem to be working.

Bono, Self Righteous Advocate For The Poor, Involved In Charity Scandal

This guy has pimped millions from people around the globe (esp. liberal celebrities looking for a "cause" to attach their name to) and now word has it that he's nothing but a scam artist:
There was a humdinger of a story about Bono in the New York Post earlier this week that the Mail has picked up on this morning. According to the Post, Bono’s anti-poverty ONE foundation received $14,993,873 in donations from philanthropists in 2008, of which just $184,732 was distributed to three charities. (ONE is an “advocacy organisation” whose main purpose is to change policies, not support charities, it says.) So what happened to the rest? More than $8 million was spent on executive and employee salaries.

This isn’t gossip. The Post’s figures are taken directly from the organisation’s 2008 tax return, the latest year for which records are available. This story follows hot on the heels of the revelation that Edun, Bono’s fashion label, has shifted some of its production base from Africa to China. A perfectly acceptable business decision, were it not for the fact that Edun is an “ethical” fashion house that was set up to aleviate poverty in … Africa.

This isn’t common-or-garden, run-of-the-mill hypocrisy, this is hypocrisy on an epic scale – stadium-filling hypocrisy. Bono browbeats Western governments for not spending more money on aid – taxpayers’ money – while doing his best to avoid paying tax himself. He chastises the private sector for not investing in African businesses, then moves his own business out of Africa. He persuades kind-hearted souls to donate money to charity, then stands by while his own foundation pays its employes 43 times as much as it gives to good causes.
Considering how much the MSM media here loves Bono, I'm just shocked that I'm just finding out about this now.

Bill Maher, Andrew Breitbart, And Seth MacFarlane Bond Over Trashing Democrats

Mediaite.com:
When it was announced earlier in the week, a round table on Real Time with Bill MaherAndrew Breitbart and Seth MacFarlane sounded like a guaranteed shoutfest, with Amy Holmes of the Talk Radio Network caught in the crossfire. For anyone who eagerly popped the popcorn thinking Bill Maher was going to make it a bad night for his right-wing guests, it was a disappointing event: the discussion was amicable, civil, and shockingly ended in agreement. involving

The Maher that showed up to this debate– about health care reform, and, later, the failure to repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell– was more concerned with pointing out his outrage against President Obama and the Democrats than making any repetitive points about conservatives, with which he clearly does not agree. He refused to understand why Democrats did not campaign on health care reform, to which Holmes and Breitbart retorted extensively that Obamacare is wildly unpopular despite, as Holmes put it, the fact that “they talked about it endlessly.” Between the two of them the phrase “shoved down our throats” came up frequently and, yes MacFarlane was snickering about that in the background. After about the fourth of fifth time used, Maher contested that the time frame in which it was passed makes the throat-shoving theory impossible: “if I had something in my throat for a year, I’d be gay by now.”

Maher continued to blame the Democrats for not being able to adequately prove that their system was better, and here there was a rare moment of visceral disagreement– from Breitbart, who refused to leave the Republicans behind. “[Republicans] are now suffering because of the Tea Party… They’re not even close to what the Tea Party wants out there,” he argued– or, at least, not any closer than the Democrats are. Breitbart also challenged Maher on his supposed libertarianism: “You’re officially not a libertarian anymore, right?… you admit that you have a more European socialist tendency?”

MSNBC’s Ed Schultz Calls NJ Governor Chris Christie A ‘Cold-Hearted Fat Slob’

Yeah well making fun of Chris Christie's weight sure did work well for Jon Corzine, didn't it? But then judging from his dismal ratings Ed Schultz is already a failure:
MSNBC host Ed Schultz launched into a fuming vituperation of New Jersey governor Chris Christie’s assertive style that had him calling the governor a “smug bully” and a “fat slob,” among many other things. This after Christie had defended California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman at a meeting, telling a heckler to calm down, while Glenn Beck is proposing a daily “Christie porn” moment on his radio show.

Schultz’s point was that the right seemed to be constantly telling liberals to “calm down” while embracing loud voices like Beck, citing an inherent hypocrisy in the fact that those two get along at all. “Christie has no business telling people to be respectful,” he argues, both because of his policies and his attitude. What’s more, Christie, says Schultz, is an “out of touch, smug bully” and, ultimately, nothing more than a “cold-hearted fat slob” who, “when he doesn’t like what he hears, he accuses the other side of shouting.” Schultz concludes that someone who opposed divisiveness should not be friendly with Beck. The alternative goes without saying. He culminated by asserting that he would not stop shouting in favor of his issues– namely, racial equality and social justice.

Certainly Schultz is not the first to make Christie’s weight an issue, though the last time someone did– namely, former governor Jon Corzine, the move completely backfired. That was a campaign, however, conducted by an elected official; surely Ed Schultz is not to be held to the same standard as a governor of a state. And there’s the fact that the comment is but one after an extended monologue (of which not all is below), and that Schultz has built something of a brand on not being able to keep his mouth shut, but it’s a brand whose audience is ever shrinking because every time he comes close to having a point– say, the fact that Christie is often rude and inexcusably abrasive in media appearances where cordiality is expected– he behaves precisely in the manner that he condemns the other side for behaving or otherwise defeats his own argument in a completely avoidable way. The more childish his insults get, the less of a reason he gives media consumers to bother giving him their attention.
