Democrat Congressman And Bush-Hater John Conyers' Wife Sent To 3 Years In Prison For Bribery

Gather.com:

Democrat Rep. John Conyers’ Wife, Monica Conyers Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison for Bribery after a federal judge refused to toss out her guilty plea.

Conyers wished to withdraw her guilty plea, claiming "badgering" as the reason she submitted the plea in the first place. However, upon reviewing the transcript of the June hearing, U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn concluded Conyers had voluntarily pleaded guilty to conspiracy after denying any coercion.

Conyers had pleaded guilty in a cash which she admitted supporting a Houston company's sludge contract by taking cash. Upon leaving the courtroom, Conyers declared she would appeal and had previously stated, "I'm not going to jail for something I didn't do."

John Conyers was one of the Left's most vocal leaders in attempting to have President Bush impeached for no legitimate reason years back. Bush was never impeached and now Conyers' wife is locked up for bribery. Funny how life works out sometimes.

Obama Does Right With Nobel Peace Prize Money

LATimes.com:

You probably recall late last year on one of his autumn commutes to Scandinavia President Obama picked up the Nobel Peace Prize. We wrote about that here and here and here. His speech was well-received here. Also some fallout over here.

Along with the 24-karat gold-plated medal and the speech and the fancy dinner comes $1.4 million from the estate of Alfred Nobel, who invented dynamite, which isn't always a weapon of destruction. (BTW, Obama's award apparently drew more attention to the international prize. The Nobel committee received 237 nominees for the 2010 award, a record. The next winner will be announced Oct. 4.)

Today, Obama's White House announced what charities will get his 2009 prize money. It's an almost perfectly balanced list of PC beneficiaries. Here they are:

“These organizations do extraordinary work in the United States and abroad helping students, veterans and countless others in need,” said President Obama. “I’m proud to support their work.”

$250,000 to Fisher House: Fisher House is a national non-profit organization that....

...provides housing for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers.

$200,000 to the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund: In the wake of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, President Obama asked former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton to create the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund to raise funds for long-term relief efforts in Haiti.

$125,000 to College Summit: College Summit is a national non-profit organization that partners with elementary and middle schools and school districts to strengthen college-going culture and increase college enrollment rates, so that all students graduate from high school career and college-ready.

$125,000 to the Posse Foundation: The Posse Foundation is a national non-profit organization that identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes. Posse’s college and university partners award Posse Scholars four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarships. The scholars graduate at a rate of 90 percent.

$125,000 to the United Negro College Fund: The United Negro College Fund plays a critical role in enabling more than 60,000 students each year to attend college through scholarship and internship programs.

$125,000 to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund: The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is the nation's leading Hispanic scholarship organization, providing the Hispanic community more college scholarships and educational outreach support than any other organization in the country. In its 34 year history, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund has awarded close to $280M in scholarships to more than 90,000 students in need.

$125,000 to the Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation: A non-profit organization funded by foundations and companies, ALEF supports and enables young men and women from Appalachia to pursue higher education though scholarship and leadership curriculum.

$125,000 to the American Indian College Fund: The American Indian College Fund transforms Indian higher education by funding and creating awareness of the unique, community-based accredited Tribal Colleges and Universities, offering students access to knowledge, skills, and cultural values which enhance their communities and the country as a whole.

The Fund disburses approximately 6,000 scholarships annually for American Indian students seeking to better their lives through higher education. The Fund also provides support for tribal college needs, ranging from capital support to cultural preservation curricula.

$100,000 to AfriCare: AfriCare was founded in 1970 and has more projects in Africa than any other U.S. based charity, reaching communities in 25 countries, primarily in Sub-Saharan Africa. Its programs address needs in three principal areas: health and HIV/AIDS; food security and agriculture; and water resource development.

$100,000 to the Central Asia Institute: The Central Asia Institute promotes and supports community-based education and literacy, especially for girls, in remote regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Institute’s co-founder, Greg Mortenson, was also a Nobel Peace Prize nominee this year, whose book, Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace, One School at a Time, recounts his attempt to successfully establish dozens of schools and promote girls’ education in rural Afghanistan and Pakistan.
No, Barry did not deserve to win a Nobel Peace Prize for basically doing nothing besides not being George W. Bush. He knows it. Every non-liberal, non Obama stan in the world knows it. But at least Barry had the fortitude to do the right thing with the prize money, spreading out the loot to a plethora of organizations that could use really it. Barry did good here.

Nancy Pelosi Knew About Eric Massa's Sexual Misconduct Before It Went Public

FOXNews.com:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's aides knew about concerns over ex-Rep. Eric Massa's behavior as far back as October, Fox News has learned, raising the possibility that the scandal could dog Democratic leaders even though Massa is now out of office.

On top of that, a slew of outrageous reports and first-hand accounts of Massa's sexual conduct dating back to his Navy days have emerged since his resignation Monday.

Though Massa pledged Tuesday on Fox News to "go away," stories about him "groping" everyone from his Navy buddies to his staff members ensure the New York Democrat's exploits will become the stuff of lore, and countless hours of cable talk, while his fellow party members are trying to concentrate on health care.

Pelosi, in an interview on PBS' "The Charlie Rose Show" Wednesday, shook her head at the situation, saying "poor baby, poor baby" in response to Massa's wavering allegation that he was forced out so health care reform could pass.

"This is a very sick person. He has been diagnosed with cancer -- perhaps his judgment is impaired because of of his -- the ethical issues that have as arisen, and he is no longer in the Congress," Pelosi said.

Despite a report that the House ethics committee is ending its investigation into Massa, the panel has not yet formally announced the inquiry is over and a senior source told Fox News the probe remains open for the time being.
It's the corrupt side of Nancy Pelosi that the liberal media refuses to talk about. But we've seen it most recently with Charlie Rangel, the expensive Democrat Copenhagen trips Pelosi approved (while taxpayers paid) as well as her lies on never being briefed about waterboarding. The Speaker of the House is a disgrace and it's about time conservatives do the job the liberal press refuses to do and renounce her.

Liberal Judge Nina Gershon Gives ACORN Back Its Money

AP.com:
A federal judge who found it unconstitutional that Congress tried to cut funding to the activist group ACORN has rejected a government request to change her mind and has ordered government agencies to make it clear the funding isn't blocked.

In a written ruling Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Nina Gershon made permanent her conclusion last year that the cutoff of funding was unconstitutional. She ordered all federal agencies to put the word out about it.

The Brooklyn judge said ACORN was punished by Congress without the enactment of administrative processes to decide if money had been handled inappropriately. She said the harm to ACORN's reputation continues because the government never rescinded its advice to withhold funding after it was distributed to "hundreds, if not thousands, of recipients."

ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, describes itself as an advocate for low-income and minority home buyers and residents.

Critics of the group say it has engaged in voter registration fraud and embezzlement and has violated the tax-exempt status of some of its affiliates by engaging in partisan political activities.

Last year, a series of videos filmed at ACORN offices around the country sparked a national scandal and helped drive the organization to near ruin. In one video, ACORN employees were shown apparently advising a couple posing as a prostitute and her boyfriend to lie about her profession and launder her earnings; Brooklyn prosecutors said they did not commit a crime.

So in essence, for all the grief the Left gave James O'Keefe for his undercover Pimp scam last year, when all is said and done ACORN still manages to comes out on top (unless Barry somehow appeals this decision and gets it overturned, which I highly doubt he will). To think, every single, nitwit ACORN worker from New York caught on tape lying was recently cleared of any wrongdoing and now ACORN gets to keep all the loot the gov took while continuing to scam the poor and naive. Funny that.

Harry Reid Smears Supreme Court

WSJ.com:
Long-simmering resentment between the conservative Supreme Court and the Democratic Congress and White House approached a boil Wednesday, as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid criticized Chief Justice John Roberts and his fellow conservatives for striking down limits on corporate political spending.

"Do you think John Roberts knows or cares how people get elected?" the Nevada Democrat said at a meeting of liberal bloggers. With all nine justices having been drawn from the lower courts, the Supreme Court lacks understanding of the practical impact of its decisions, Mr. Reid said, according to the Web site Huffington Post.

A spokesman for Mr. Reid, Jim Manley, confirmed the remarks and added that the majority leader strongly backed President Barack Obama's push for legislation requiring corporations to disclose their political spending and imposing other regulations.

The Supreme Court ruled in January that portions of the 2002 McCain-Feingold campaign-finance law, along with related federal and state laws limiting corporate and union political expenditures, violated free-speech rights. The court's liberals dissented in the 5-4 vote.

Dare to oppose them and they smear, insult and degrade you. It's just who they are.

Obama Nominates Rapist Supporter Robert Chatigny For Court Of Appeals

FOXNews.com:

The Senate Judiciary Committee has postponed the hearing for a controversial Court of Appeals nominee after the panel received a letter from a home-state prosecutor blasting the candidate as a judicial loose cannon and after Republicans raised concerns about bias in favor of sex offenders.

U.S. District Court Judge Robert Chatigny gained notoriety in 2005 for his role in trying to fight the execution of convicted serial killer and rapist Michael Ross, also known as The Roadside Strangler, whom Chatigny had described as a victim of his own "sexual sadism."

His conduct in that case, which included threatening to go after Ross' attorney's law license, as well as his ruling in 2001 against sex offender registries created under Megan's Law, has caused a commotion among Republicans on the judiciary panel.

"I've never seen conduct like this," said a Republican source. "I'm shocked that the White House vetted this guy ... and still put him up for a judgeship."

The nomination is relatively fresh. President Obama submitted his name Feb. 24 for a seat on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, calling him a "first-rate" legal expert and "faithful" public servant.

With the hearing originally set for Wednesday, Republicans led by their ranking member, Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., said they wanted more time.

"Senator Sessions and the Judiciary Republicans have asked for a delay in light of the nominee's extremely lengthy record and the fact that he was brought up so unusually quickly," Sessions spokesman Stephen Miller said.

Not only has Chatigny been sympathetic to rapists, but his connections to corrupt Dem pol Christopher Dodd are also under scrutiny. But where's NOW and the rest of the radical feminists on the Left concerning Chatigny's past? Their silence is deafening.

Chief Justice John Roberts Slams Obama's Lack Of Tact

FOXNews.com:
U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts said Tuesday the scene at President Barack Obama's first State of the Union address was "very troubling" and that the annual speech to Congress has "degenerated into a political pep rally."

Responding to a University of Alabama law student's question about the Senate's method of confirming justices, Roberts said senators improperly try to make political points by asking questions they know nominees can't answer because of judicial ethics rules.

"I think the process is broken down," he said.

Obama chided the court for its campaign finance decision during the January address, with six of the court's nine justices seated before him in their black robes.

Roberts said he wonders whether justices should attend the address.

"To the extent the State of the Union has degenerated into a political pep rally, I'm not sure why we're there," said Roberts, a Republican nominee who joined the court in 2005.

Roberts said anyone is free to criticize the court and that some have an obligation to do so because of their positions.

"So I have no problems with that," he said. "On the other hand, there is the issue of the setting, the circumstances and the decorum. The image of having the members of one branch of government standing up, literally surrounding the Supreme Court, cheering and hollering while the court -- according the requirements of protocol -- has to sit there expressionless, I think is very troubling."

Breaking from tradition, Obama used the speech to criticize the court's decision that allows corporations and unions to freely spend money to run political ads for or against specific candidates.

"With all due deference to the separation of powers, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests -- including foreign corporations -- to spend without limit in our elections," Obama said.

Highly doubt it would ever happen, but wouldn't it just be special if none of the justices showed up at Barry's next SOTU as a show of solidarity against The One's unprecedented and disrespectful remarks last time? Eh, one can hope.

It's Official: Tom Hanks Is Another Idiot Hollyweird Liberal

BigHollywood.com:
Over the weekend, Time Magazine published a long, glowing profile of Tom Hanks to help promote his upcoming HBO miniseries “The Pacific.” And as with all things entertainment media, the subject is never challenged or even made to shift uncomfortably in his seat. The push to ascend Hanks to “national treasure” status is clearly on.

Hanks does seem to be a genuinely nice man and the work he’s done to bring American history to life on film is impressive, especially during a time when the singling out of America’s exceptionalism is more and more frowned upon in artistic and academic circles. ”From the Earth to the Moon,” “Band of Brothers,” and “John Adams” are not only artistic achievements, but in this MTV-addled culture, might be the best hope of teaching America’s youth about the unique history and greatness of this nation. And I suspect ”The Pacific,” the 10-part miniseries premiering this Sunday on HBO (which Big Hollywood’s Michael Broderick will cover extensively) will be a worthy addition to what came before.

But when it comes to leftist Hollywood, whenever Tinseltown and America meet, you have to brace yourself for it — and by “it” I mean the leftist sucker punch. Throughout, Hanks sounds perfectly reasonable, intelligent and even patriotic for a couple of thousand words. But of course that’s just the lure to get us on his side before we’re walloped with this left cross: [emphasis mine]

[Hanks] doesn’t see the series as simply eye-opening history. He hopes it offers Americans a chance to ponder the sacrifices of our current soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. “From the outset, we wanted to make people wonder how our troops can re-enter society in the first place,” Hanks says. “How could they just pick up their lives and get on with the rest of us? Back in World War II, we viewed the Japanese as ‘yellow, slant-eyed dogs’ that believed in different gods. They were out to kill us because our way of living was different. We, in turn, wanted to annihilate them because they were different. Does that sound familiar, by any chance, to what’s going on today?”

There’s no such thing as a definitive history. But what was once a passing interest for Hanks has become an obsession. He’s a man on a mission to make our back pages come alive, to keep overhauling the history we know and, in the process, get us to understand not just the past but the choices we make today.

No matter how many times you read this passage the context is clear. By “different” Hanks is clearly referring to race, culture and religion, not ideology.

Listen, I'm no warmonger, far from it. But to totally ignore Pearl Harbor and reduce us bombing the Japanese to something about race is just beyond stupid.

Jesse Ventura Still Believes Bush And Cheney Behind 9/11

NewsBusters.org:
NBC's Ann Curry invited former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura to promote his new book of conspiracy theories, on Tuesday's Today show, and pressed the former professional wrestler to throw out the loony charge that the Bush administration had foreknowledge of 9/11. On to promote his book American Conspiracies, Ventura charged that the CIA was involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy and when prompted by Curry accused the Bush administration of allowing the 9/11 attacks to happen.

ANN CURRY: And you say what the, the, the constant in all of these assassinations, virtually all of them, is this, is starting with Kennedy, is the CIA.

JESSE VENTURA: They, they come up.

CURRY: What are you implying, why are you, what are you implying with that?

VENTURA: I'm not implying anything. That's the documents. That's where it leads you. The common denominator is always the Central Intelligence Agency to a great many of these. And, and it's not me making it up, you know. I didn't make this book up. I offer opinions at the beginning of chapters and at the end of chapters, but everything in it is all documented off of government documents, other articles, interviews that people have given and everything of that.

CURRY: The biggest bombshell of the book is your writing that, that quote, "I am convinced that some people inside our government" -- about 9/11 -- "knew that the attack was going to happen and allowed it to come to pass because it furthered their political agenda?" Who are you talking about, whose political agenda?

VENTURA: Whoever was in charge at that time. They knew about Osama Bin Laden...

CURRY: Are you saying the Bush administration?

VENTURA: Yep. Yep.

What a stupid, stupid man. Thank goodness the independent Popular Mechanics took the time to dispute every single, stupid 9/11 conspiracy theory that's out there.

Mitt Romney Warns Tea Party Movement: No Third Party Bids

CNN.com:
Mitt Romney has a message to Tea Party candidates nationwide: If you lose your Republican primary bids, stay on the sidelines.

The former Massachusetts governor on Monday warned the grassroots movement not to mount third party efforts in general elections, which he said would siphon votes from Republican nominees.

"If there is a conservative candidate that runs in the general election, then obviously, divide and fail is the result," Romney said in an interview with the conservative Web site Newsmax. "Hopefully Tea Party candidates will run in respective primaries and they will either win or lose. And if they win, they will go into the general. If they lose, they won't, and they will get behind the more conservative of the two finalists."

Romney explained that "dividing our conservative effort in the general elections" would "basically hand the country to Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, and that would be very sad indeed."

Some will say Romney's scared, but this is about common sense. Now's not the time to be launching 3rd-party bids, not unless you want the same folks raising taxes as well as our deficit and putting jobs on the back burner, to stay in office. Hell, a 3rd-party bid is the kind of thing Harry Reid goes to bed every night praying for.

Dan Rather: "Obama Couldn't Sell Watermelons"

You just know that if Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh or any Republican pol had said this, they'd get a week's worth of scorn from the liberal press (much less Sharpton and Jesse). But Rather is a Democrat who once tried to get President Bush impeached, so that makes it ok to be a bigot, yunno like Harry Reid.

Workers From Liberal Group ACORN Charged With Voted Fraud

FOXNews.com:

Five Wisconsin residents, including two who worked for community organizing group ACORN, were charged Monday with election fraud relating to the 2008 presidential election.

State Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced felony charges against Maria Miles, Kevin Clancy, Michael Henderson, Herbert Gunka and Suzanne Gunka.

Miles and Clancy worked for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now and are accused of submitting multiple voter registration applications for the same individuals, including each other, to meet voter registration quotes imposed by the community organizing group.

Henderson is charged with one count of voting by a disqualified person and providing false information to election officials. The allegation claims he was on a felony probation and prohibited from voting at the time.

Herbert and Suzanne Gunka are each charged with double voting -- a felony -- by allegedly absentee voting and then going to the polls to vote.

"The integrity of elections is dependent upon citizens and officials insisting they be conducted lawfully. Wisconsin's citizens should not have to wonder whether their vote has been negated or diminished by illegally cast ballots," Van Hollen said.

Anyone think John McCain might want to look into this?

Conservative Democrat Eric Massa Says He Was Forced Out Of Congress For Not Supporting ObamaCare

NYTimes.com:
Representative Eric Massa, Democrat of New York, who is resigning from Congress amid allegations that he sexually harassed a staff member, now says he believes that House Democratic leaders wanted to force him out of office because he voted against the Democrats’ health care legislation.

Mr. Massa, a freshman who represents Elmira, Corning and the suburbs of Rochester, has said that he is resigning effective 5 p.m. on Monday.

In recent days, he has given several explanations for his decision not to seek re-election and then to resign more immediately. First, he cited a recurrence of cancer. Mr. Massa, a former Navy officer, received a diagnosis of terminal lymphoma in 2001 but recovered.

Then Mr. Massa acknowledged the harassment allegation against him, admitting that he was guilty of using “salty” language in the privacy of his home and his office. He denied any further wrongdoing.

But in a local radio show on Sunday, Mr. Massa suggested that a more sinister conspiracy was under way to push him out because he had voted against the House health care legislation. “They will stop at nothing to pass this health care bill,” he said of Democratic leaders. “Now they have gotten rid of me, and it will pass.”

House Democratic leaders rejected Mr. Massa’s assertion. “That’s completely false,” said Katie Grant, a spokeswoman for the House majority leader, Representative Steny H. Hoyer, Democrat of Maryland. “There is zero merit to that accusation.”

Why shouldn't we believe Massa? Even the Left is angry at the version of ObamaCare that Barry's trying to bully through Congress. Then too is the fact that ObamaPelosiReidco. has shown plenty of times in recent weeks how much they're willing to bribe, bully and threaten their way to passing their radically-Leftist agenda. For Massa it's it's price you pay for daring to oppose The One.
