Tomorrow President Obama will make history by becoming the first sitting president to appear on a daytime talk show. This is perhaps less exciting than it might have been were Obama not such a ubiquitous presence in the media. However considering it comes on the heels of the Shirley Sherrod debacle (perhaps, intentionally so) Obama’s appearance on The View will likely provide at least some good soundbites.
But is it a good idea? Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell does not think so…to put it mildly. Here is how he described the appearance on Morning Joe yesterday. [Watch below].“I think the president should be accessible, should answer questions that aren’t pre-screened, but I think there should be a little bit of dignity to the presidency…“I wouldn’t put him on Jerry Springer either, it is different a little bit. But I think the president of the United States has to go on serious shows.”
