Harry Connick Jr. Does Nothing While Racist Group In Black Faces Performs Skit

Au.news.com:

HEY Hey It's Saturday's second reunion special has been marred by scathing criticism over a "racist" Red Faces performance.

A singing group called the Jackson Jive left guest judge Harry Connick Jr visibly upset and later prompted host Daryl Somers to issue a formal on-air apology.

The international crooner looked uncomfortable during the performance by the group of singers who dressed in suits with painted black faces. Connick Jr gave the troupe a score of zero and said the act wouldn't have gone down well in the United States. Later, in an on-air apology issued directly to the star by Somers, Connick Jr said he needed to "speak up as an American".

"If I knew that was going to be part of the show I definitely wouldn't have done it," he said.

Connick Jr was born and raised in New Orleans and learned to play music alongside African- American jazz musicians.

Now THIS is straight up racist and Connick Jr. is an idiot for agreeing to participate in this blatant ignorance. The audience should be even more ashamed for clapping and booing when the group got gonged. Connick Jr's statement at the end there wasn't credible either. Unbelievable.

David Letterman And The Liberal Media's Double Standard

Normally the idea of a male boss having sexual relations with his staffers would not only be kind of sick, but svengali and pretty troublesome. But when it comes to David Letterman, not only does the liberal media give him a pass, but his fans adore him even more:
The president of a media watchdog organization is sounding off about the recent scandal involving talk-show host David Letterman.

Last week, Letterman -- host of the long-running Late Show on CBS -- admitted on the air that he had had sexual relations with a number of female staffers. The admission was made in response to an alleged multimillion-dollar extortion attempt by a CBS news producer, who was arrested earlier that afternoon.

Most of the media coverage has centered on the extortion plot, with little on the illicit affairs. Bob Peters, president of
Morality in Media, says there seems to be a double standard when it comes to the entertainment industry and inappropriate relationships.

"More than one high-profile CEO has lost his job because of having sex with a subordinate. [And] in many corporations there are rules against such things," he points out.

"But in the entertainment media -- whether it's having sex with an adult subordinate or a 13-year-old girl [a reference to fugitive film director Roman Polanski] -- it's pretty much okay with the industry," says Peters. "And it's okay with what I would describe as morally blinded fans," he adds.

Peters says the media coverage is a reflection of the state of the nation, which seems to be more interested in an extortion plot than multiple affairs involving a well-known comedian.

Michele Bachmann: 'I'm Certainly Not Going To Fear The Likes Of Keith Olbermann'

NewsBusters.org:
Over the past two years, MSNBC - the so-called "place for politics" has had a fascination with the congresswoman from Minnesota's Sixth District.

And some of those attacks have been against her family, others borderline misogynistic. However, GOP Rep. Michelle Bachmann told a group of conservative bloggers at The Heritage Foundation on Oct. 6 she really wasn't concerned about MSNBC, and noted how poorly the network does in the ratings.

"Quite honestly, I don't even know anything about MSNBC," Bachmann said. "It's not a network that I watch and most of the American people agree with that assessment. They aren't watching it either. And that's why Fox's ratings - I mean it's like CNN, CNBC, MSNBC combined. I think Fox even exceeded one of the major networks last week. They're on the ascendency."

Michael Moore's 'Capitalism: A Love Story' Movie Flops

Newsbusters.org:
Michael Moore is destined to really hate capitalism, for his new movie "Capitalism: A Love Story" appears to have totally flopped at the box office.

This comes despite all the gushing and fawning by Moore-loving media members prior to the film's October 2nd release.

Take heart, fellow capitalists, for according to Deadline Hollywood this could be a flop of epic proportions:

Michael Moore's purposefully controversial and politically polarizing documentary Capitalism: A Love Story was distributed by Overture Films and wound up in 7th place. It went wide into 962 theaters this weekend after opening on September 23rd in a limited release of 4 theaters. The pic about the financial crisis made $1.6M Friday and $2M Saturday (+33%) for a $5M weekend and $5.4M cume. Just for comparison purposes: Moore's most recent Sicko did $4.4 mil its opening weekend from only 441 theaters (and that was with him guesting on The Tonight Show and announcing he'd been subpoenaed by the Bush administration for the health care documentary). And his Fahrenheit 9/11 did $23.9M its opening weekend from 868 venues.) So, as much as the left loves Moore, and the right detests him, and he always uses the ensuing controversy to self-promote, the money angle is only what interests me. The fact is that Capitalism: A Love Story looks like its domestic total will fail to crack $20M and end up his worst performing film since his Oscar-winner Bowling For Columbine in 2002.

All together now: aaaaaaaawwwwwww!

Justice Sonia Sotomayor Makes Her Debut Today

CSMonitor.com:
Transition is the word that perhaps best describes the US Supreme Court's 2009-10 term set to begin Monday.

The coming year offers an opportunity for court watchers to more clearly define the character of the emerging Roberts Court during Chief Justice John Roberts's fifth term on the bench. And it presents a chance far superior to the wishy-washy Senate confirmation hearings to finally learn something of the real Sonia Sotomayor, the high court's newest justice.

Will she be a liberal stalwart or a sometimes ally to the conservatives? If so, in which cases?

The term already includes potential blockbuster cases examining the applicability of Second Amendment gun rights to state and local governments, campaign-finance regulations, life sentences for juveniles, and whether Congress violated the separation of powers when it created an independent accounting oversight board.

The court's options will reveal more than just legal winners and losers. How these disputes are analyzed and decided by the justices will offer legal scholars important clues about the evolving dynamics within the nation's highest court.

In addition to the arrival of a new justice, Justice John Paul Stevens's decision to hire only one law clerk (instead of the usual four) for the 2010-11 term has sparked speculation that he intends to leave the court in June.

Among key trends to watch will be whether Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito decide to put an unabashedly conservative stamp on the high court by joining their conservative colleagues to boldly overturn liberal legal precedents despite earlier pledges of a preference for judicial minimalism.

Personally, I think that Sotomayor will play it down the line, 50/50, which will keep folks guessing while not leaning any particular way. Good chance that Obama will get at least more chances to make appointments to SCOTUS, what with Stevens likely retiring soon and Ginsburg being sick of late. But the key is Anthony Kennedy, he's the swing vote. If Barry gets to replace Kennedy, the court could then take on a dramatic shift that liberals would be drooling over.

Drew Barrymore's "Whip It" Flops At Box Office

YahooNews.com:
Woody Harrelson scored the biggest opening of his career at the North American box office, as "Zombieland" stormed theaters with weekend ticket sales of $25 million, according to studio estimates issued on Sunday.

The comedy ended the two-week reign of children's comedy "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," which slipped to No. 2 with $16.7 million. Both films were released by Columbia Pictures, a unit of Sony Corp.

Four other new releases entered the top-10. A 3-D reissue of the Pixar cartoons, "Toy Story" and " Toy Story 2," opened at No. 3 with $12.5 million. The release was designed to stoke anticipation of the June 2010 arrival of " Toy Story 3."

British comedian Ricky Gervais' "The Invention of Lying" followed with a modest $7.4 million, slightly ahead of Bruce Willis' "Surrogates," which is in its second weekend. Rankings could change when final data are released on Monday.

Two entries tied at No. 7: Drew Barrymore's directing debut, "Whip It," and documentary filmmaker Michael Moore's "Capitalism: A Love Story" each reported about $4.9 million in ticket sales.

Good. I can't think of a more annoying and overrated actress than Drew Barrymore. I've never liked her acting (much less the way she insists on incorporating standard leftist dogma in her roles and the flicks she now directs) or found her attractive. But yet thanks mostly to her notorious last name as well as a wild childhood based sex, money and drugs, not only has liberal Hollywood forever embraced her, but so too have the gossip-mongers and tabloids. Then too Drew's personal life hasn't suffered either, as a woman who is plain at best somehow manages to land boyfriend after boyfriend with Hollywood hunks who could do way better.

New Hero To The Left: Alan Grayson, Holocaust Denier

Salon.com:

In a little less than a month, Rep Joe Wilson, R-S.C., went from virtual unknown to a man with real star power in the Republican Party. He's raised almost $2 million for his reelection campaign, been tapped for a fundraising appeal for the National Republican Congressional Committee and is now even heading out to stump for other candidates. And all it took for him to make that transition was a single moment, when he decided to interrupt President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress by shouting out "You lie!"

What Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., did on the House floor Tuesday night may not be directly comparable to what Wilson did -- he said that the Republican healthcare plan is "don't get sick," but if you do, "die quickly," but he didn't interrupt the president in front of Congress and a prime-time national audience. Still, the reactions the two men have gotten from their respective party's bases have been strikingly similar. Grayson, who's serving his first term, probably won't get the kind of campaign invitations from high-profile colleagues that Wilson has -- but he has taken in more than $115,000 from just one fundraising Web site, ActBlue.com.

"We've had thousands of new contributors to our campaign, we've received 6,000 e-mails in less than 24 hours," Grayson told Salon. "People are urging us to make sure that we go ahead and take care of America's business, and they're applauding the fact that a congressman had the guts to say the truth and speak the truth to power."

It comes down to this: Whether they want to believe it or not, the passionate people on both sides of the political divide are more alike than they realize. Both sides believe the party that represents them isn't forceful enough, that it rolls over for its opposition, no matter how malicious that opposition might be. And when they find someone who's willing to say what they think needs saying -- even if that thing isn't really true, even if it involves yelling at the president or accusing opponents of wanting people to die quickly -- they can be energized pretty quickly. If that person is, like Wilson and Grayson, unwilling to give in when the other side starts howling, well, that only adds to their new aura.

White Woman Returns Black Adopted 18 Month Old Child Back To The Orphanage Because She Couldn't Bond With Him

Yunno, this woman is catching a lot of heat in some circles for giving back her adopted child, but I just don't think that Aniti Tedaldi was able to handle the worst case scenario of an adoption. Granted adopted children already suffer from lack of love and neglect and she only had the kid for 18 months, but the boy is still young and I'm just not sure it's fair to judge this woman for her, albeit brutal, honesty. Attachment issues are that real.

Another Victory For Glenn Beck: Obama's Hometown Chicago Is Eliminated From Olympics Consideration

NYTimes.com:
The International Olympic Committee delivered a stunning blow to Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympics, knocking it out of the voting in the first round Friday, leaving Rio de Janeiro and Madrid waiting for the announcement of which city will host the Games. Tokyo was eliminated in the second round.

I.O.C. president Jacques Rogge made the announcement as the first round concluded, a surprisingly early exit, especially because of President Barack Obama’s whirlwind trip to boost the bid of his adopted city. Mr. Obama was the first American president to make an in-person appeal for a bid city and first lady Michelle Obama had also come earlier this week to lobby I.O.C. members for votes. Chicago’s bid leaders had worked for nearly four years and spent close to $50 million to bring the Summer Olympics to the United States for the first time in 20 years. Chicago had been considered among Olympic insiders as a favorite to win the Games, along with Rio.

Throngs watching the voting in downtown Chicago’s Daley Plaza gasped in disappointment as the announcement was made. It was the second straight time an American city fared poorly in the I.O.C. voting. New York’s bid was eliminated in the second round of voting for the 2012 Olympics.

United States Olympic Committee leaders appeared stunned by the news and had no comment as they left the voting hall. Mr. Obama was flying back to Washington at the time of the vote.
Good decision by the IOC who obviously were not impressed by Barry's rock star status here in the U.S. Plus, what with its ever-increasing crime rate and notoriously corrupt (and mostly Democrat) politicians, Chicago had no business even being considered for an Olympic bid in the first place. Word is out there too that many Chicago residents weren't as excited about the Olympics being in their backyard as the Liar-in-Chief was--maybe they realize that Chi-town has more pressing concerns to handle than hosting an event that appeals moreso internationally than to Americans anyway.

Finally, what shouldn't be overlooked were the efforts of Glenn Beck, who recently pointed out that Barry and his advisor Valerie Jarrett stood to make a lot of personal gain (i.e. $$$) from having the Games hosted in Chicago.
The White House was so upset at Beck's accusation that they felt the need to respond via blog, of all things--more reason to suspect that something was indeed fishy about Barry so badly wanting the Olympics in his hometown from the get-go. Must be a huge blow to Barry's inflated ego that he lost this one.

Michael Moore Snubs Union Workers In Making 'Capitalism: A Love Story'

ABCNews.com:
Michael Moore used some non-union crewmembers when union workers were available in the production of his latest film "Capitalism: A Love Story," a documentary that argues the capitalist system allows for greedy corporations to exploit working-class people.

"For all of the different jobs on the movie that could have used union labor, he used union labor, except for one job, the stagehands, represented by IATSE," said a labor source unauthorized to talk about Moore's decision not to hire members of The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.

In a statement issued to ABCNews.com, Moore's agent, Ari Emanuel, said the filmmaker wished the union includ apied more documentary crew people -- but he did not deny that IATSE members were snubbed in favor of non-union employees.

Michael Moore is just another Hollywood hypocrite making millions while condemning the same system that's responsible for him being rich. Reminds you of all those limousine liberals who espouse eco-lifestyles. If Moore were to put his money where his mouth is, tickets to "Capitalism: A Love Story" would be free. But hypocritical does not mean stupid.

Florida Democrat Alan Grayson Is A Lying Prick

One would think that with all the hype surrounding "change" in the Obama Age, class and civility would be at the forefront, guess this prick didn't get the memo:

You remember Democrat Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida. A month ago, he was taking refuge in a union hall to shill for Obamacare in a cowardly last-minute meeting with angry constituents.

As you know, he has now traveled down Demagoguery Road and accused Republicans of wanting sick Americans to “DIE QUICKLY.”

The diarrhea of the mouth continued yesterday with Grayson trashing his political opponents as “knuckle-dragging Neanderthals.”

The Democrat etiquette police, of course, are nowhere to be found.

More offensive than Grayson’s incivility is his promotion of that “Harvard study” — authored by avowed single-payer advocates purporting to show that 45,000 Americans die every year because of lack of insurance.

Reader Dale notes the methodology:

1. Survey a sample group in 1988, ask at that time if the person is insured, and to rate their health, do not verify actual coverage at that time or at any other time during the study

2. Track the deaths of people in the sample group between 1988 and 2000

3. Attribute deaths to lack of insurance for everyone who at the time of the initial interview claimed to be uninsured dies for any reason over the subsequent 12 years

If on the day of the interview I was uninsured, but then was insured for the next 12 years without interruption, my death would be attributed to me being uninsured. How rigorous a study is that?!

Indeed, if you actually read the study, you’ll read this:

December 2009, Vol 99, No. 12 | American Journal of Public Health

Limitations

Our study has several limitations. NHANES III assessed health insurance at a single point in time and did not validate self-reported insurance status. We were unable to measure the effect of gaining or losing coverage after the interview.

Point-in-time uninsurance is associated with subsequent uninsurance. Intermittent insurance coverage is common and accelerates the decline in health among middle-aged persons. Among the near-elderly, point-in-time uninsurance was associated with significant decline in overall health relative to those with private insurance. Earlier population-based surveys that did validate insurance status found that between 7% and 11% of those initially recorded as being uninsured were misclassified. If present, such misclassification might dilute the true effect of uninsurance in our sample. We excluded 29.5% of the sample because of missing data. These individuals were more likely to be uninsured and to die, which might also bias our estimate toward the null.

We have no information about duration of insurance coverage from this survey. Further, we have no data regarding cost sharing (out-of-pocket expenses) among the insured; cost sharing worsened blood pressure control among the poor in the RAND Health Insurance Experiment, and was associated with decreased use of essential medications, and increased rates of emergency department use and adverse events in a random sample of elderly and poor Canadians. Unmeasured characteristics (i.e., that individuals who place less value on health eschew both health insurance and healthy behaviors) might offer an alternative explanation for our findings.

Indeed, the Liar-In-Chief has gotten himself a new foot soldier.
