Obama Orders Ice Cream While People Are Slaughtered In Iran

TheWeeklyStandard.com:

CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller has been doing some in-depth reporting on the president's trip to an ice cream parlor this afternoon. He reports that "Obama had vanilla frozen custard in a cup with hot fudge and toasted almonds." He reports that "Sasha had a Brownie sundae: vanilla frozen yogurt, hot fudge, cherry, sprinkles and whipped cream (which she asked Dad to scrape off)." He reports that "Malia had vanilla frozen custart in a waffle cone." And, "You're gonna laff: Obama & the girls actually bought Frozen Puppy pops for Bo: flavors: pumpkin, peanut butter and yogurt…"

When some twitterers complained that maybe President Obama's time could be better spent given the crisis in Iran, Knoller responded, "Surprised by the outrage at the ice cream outing. What is it you expect or want the US to do about Iran? Attack? War?"

Maybe Barry forgot that tomorrow's Father's Day, not today. Besides that, this isn't about us attacking anyone, the criticism that Barry's getting from the Right boils down to the leader free world remaining mum on an increasingly hostile situation in Iran. Remember too that the Left ridiculed former President George W. Bush for days on end when he went golfing after commenting on the Middle East and the War on Terror. Barry now deserves the same ridicule from the press.

Joe Scarborough Conservative Bashing Book Bashing Tour Flops

RadioEqualizer:
Over the past several weeks, this site has been tracking the attempt by MSNBC's Joe Scarborough to make money bashing his former friends in any and every available public venue. With a new book to peddle, could attacking onetime colleagues from his conservative days fuel sales? New data from the publishing world, as well as radio and TV, provide the answer.

To promote the release, the former GOP congressman turned radio and TV host appeared on left-leaning television shows such as The View and did interviews with the New York Times and Newsweek. Each time, he was quick to bash Rush Limbaugh, Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, and other key conservative figures.

In recent years, Scarborough has found that turning against fellow Republicans could be good for the pocketbook, securing him the morning gig at MSNBC and a syndicated talk show airing on WABC / New York

But in new data released late this week, Scarborough has struck out in every category: TV, radio and publishing. His widely-touted The Last Best Hope: Restoring Conservatism and America's Promise has bombed, selling just 6432 copies since its 9 June release, according to new Bookscan figures. At Amazon, it has already dropped out of the top 100, currently ranked 166.

By contrast, conservative author Mark Levin remained in first place after three full months, according to Bookscan, selling another 35,595 units to push closer to a possible one million sales mark in the weeks and months to come.
Note to "disgruntled" conservatives or GOP members unhappy with the GOP while placing all the blame on Rush, Newt, Karl Rove and the rest of the Far-Right: quit it. While Rush and Newt say dumb things at times and go across the line of class way too often, people with short memories seem to forget that just 4 years ago, it was the GOP that ran the Presidency and Congress while the Left that was scurrying around worried to death about their future. Then too, there are extremists on both sides of the aisle who say and do dumb things without looking at the big picture, just ask Obama. Yet, history has shown us that these things on in cycles--one party dominates for a time, doesn't live up to its lofty expectations, so people run to the other party. Bashing and in-fighting doesn't work, sticking to principles and offering solutions do.

ABC Employees Donated Heavily To Obama

Newsmax.com:

As indignation turned to outrage Thursday among critics of an ABC News prime-time special on President Obama's health care policy, The Washington Times has learned that ABC employees gave 80 times as much money to Mr. Obama's 2008 campaign for president than to his rival's.

According to an analysis of campaign donations by the Center for Responsive Politics, conducted at The Times' request, ABC employees in several divisions donated $124,421 to the Obama campaign, compared with $1,550 to the presidential campaign of Sen. John McCain.

The 60-minute ABC program, to air live from the White House on Wednesday, is sparking hardball politics in other ways. Grass-roots boycotts, Republican outcry and a study citing media bias are all part of the mix.

A study released Thursday by the Business & Media Institute (BMI) found that since Inauguration Day, ABC has aired news stories with positive reviews of Mr. Obama's health care policy 55 times, compared with 18 times when the network highlighted negative reviews.

Citing Census Bureau figures, the BMI analyses also accused ABC of "exaggerating the breadth of the uninsured problem," saying the network's claim that up to 50 million Americans are uninsured is false.

"ABC is in bed with their source, so to speak. ABC is supposed to be a news organization, not a producer of infomercials for national health care. And I wonder what they would have done if the Bush administration had asked for positive programming to support the war on terror or Social Security initiatives," said Dan Gainor, BMI vice president of business and culture.

Liberal Hypocrite Barbara Boxer Dresses Down Marine For Following Protocol

NationalPost.com:

Earlier this week, U. S. Senator Barbara Boxer took exception when the brigadier-general she was questioning at a Senate hearing kept referring to her as "ma'am." ( "Yes, ma'am." "No, ma'am." etc.) "Could you say 'Senator' instead of 'ma'am?'" she asked. "It's just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title. I'd appreciate it."

It's a strange request given that -- as aspiring senator Chuck DeVore points out on the Bully! Pulpit blog -- the U. S. Army's protocol guide lists "ma'am" as an acceptable way to address a senator.

Stranger still since -- as blogger Tommy De Seno reminds us -- two years ago, Boxer called former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice "Madam" three different times during testimony while Rice was appearing before Congress. "Ma'am" is, of course, the contracted form of "Madam."

The condescending witch that is Barbara Boxer couldn't even say "excuse me." Guess she forgot that the Marine she so rudely interrupted defends her freedom while she looks down at him. It's the liberal way to forget those kind of things.

Yet Another Obama Appointee Has A Tax Problem

NYTimes.com:
President Obama’s choice as chief of protocol for the State Department, a position that carries the status of an ambassadorship, did not file tax returns for 2005 and 2006, errors she corrected last November.

The nominee, Capricia Penavic Marshall, has placed blame for the problem on the Postal Service and on miscommunication between her husband and their accountant.

Ms. Marshall, who was the social secretary in the Clinton White House, notified the Obama administration about the late filings before she was nominated on May 14. She has since provided written answers to questions about the matter from Senator Richard G. Lugar of Indiana, the top Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee, which will hold a hearing on the appointment next Wednesday. The post requires Senate confirmation.

Tax issues have bedeviled several high-level Obama appointees and cost the administration at least two of its picks.
Geez, you'd think Barry would learn by now, what with all the tax-related problems he's had with previous cabinet appointments, but it's like he just doesn't care about properly vetting people. And this one (a former Hillary staffer) blames her lack of filing taxes on the "Postal Service"--two years in a row at that. Amazing.

ABC News AKA The All Barack Channel, Refuses To Allow Obama Healthplan Critics Be Heard

FOXNEWS.com:

Opponents of President Obama's proposed health care reform are blasting ABC News for refusing to air opposing ads during a prime time special next Wednesday, just as a new study finds ABC News coverage of the president's health care plan is favorable by a ratio of 3 to 1.

The prime time special -- called "Questions for the President: Prescription for America" -- will be a nationally televised event during which Obama will answer questions presented by audience members selected by ABC News. The network has refused to accept advocacy ads during the hourlong show.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele accused ABC News and anchor Charles Gibson of making Obama's case for "nationalized" health care "without any opportunity for opposing views to be aired.

In a fundraising e-mail aimed at raising nearly $100,000 to buy air time for a counterprogram, Steele said the RNC's request to add its views to the debate during the special was "flatly rejected" by ABC News.

"What are the Democrats and their media allies afraid of? The truth?" he asked in a fundraising letter to supporters. "That is outrageous! And we will not take it!"

But ABC News spokesman Jeffrey Schneider told FOXNews.com that it has been a "longstanding" policy not to accept "advocacy" ads.

Schneider explained that the policy was established decades ago and only local ABC affiliates air issue ads.

"Local stations have different standards," he said, adding that ABC News refused to air Obama's infomercial the week before the presidential election in November because it did not meet the station's standards.

Since the president's inauguration in January, ABC's "World News" and "Good Morning America" have aired stories that feature Obama or supporters of his health care plan 55 times compared to 18 appearances by critics of his plan, according to a Business & Media Institute (BMI) analysis released Wednesday.

If Barry was so confident in his socialist health care reform, much less if he was really about bi-partisanship, then he'd approach ABC about letting the GOP air their concerns so the public can decide for themselves if this is a good plan or not. But as we all know by now, Barry's big ears are really sensitive to those who dare criticize him and we wouldn't want our dear, leader whining about that ONE television station that doesn't cater to him again, now would we?

Hypocrite Feminist Gloria Steinem Stays Silent On David Letterman Rape Jokes

Newsbusters.org:
On Wednesday night’s O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly circled around the David Letterman teen-got-knocked-up crack against the Palins, noticing that the Women’s Media Center, founded by uber-feminists Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda, harangued O’Reilly for mocking Helen Thomas for having a voice like the “Wicked Witch of the East,” but made no protest on Palin’s behalf to the Letterman show:

BILL O’REILLY: Now, women's groups. As you know, Sarah Palin and David Letterman. Not one woman's group -- no, NOW said something. I'm sorry. The National Organization for Women said, "Dave." OK. But no protests, no anything like that. But remember when I made fun of Helen Thomas, what happened? Roll the tape.

HELEN THOMAS, JOURNALIST: Do you think that Pakistan and -- are maintaining the safe havens in Afghanistan for these so-called terrorists?

O'REILLY: The White House press corps looked intimidated to me. Didn't they look intimidated? Except for that what's her name? The old lady, Helen Thomas. [Makes a noise like a dying crow.] It's like the wicked witch of the east.

ALAN COLMES: I didn't know you did impersonations.

O'REILLY: If I were Obama, I would have poured water on her.

COURTNEY MARTIN, MEMBER, WOMEN'S MEDIA CENTER: I think we both know that Helen Thomas is fine with being criticized for her work, for her actual journalism. But to take an attack at her appearance is just disrespectful.

O'REILLY: What was the appearance attack?

MARTIN: When is the first time you complimented a woman by calling her a witch?

O'REILLY: I didn't call her a witch. I said her voice sounded like - - and I did the voice. That was clear. (END VIDEO CLIP)

O'REILLY: Alright. Now, the Women's Media Center, which came on and said nasty things about me, not a word about Sarah Palin. We checked their Web site. We monitored. Not one word. So I say to you, [Margaret] Hoover, women's groups, pressure groups, all ideological now, all on the far left, and they're done!

The Women's Media Center statement on O'Reilly in February insisted they were the type of feminists who stuck up for all women:

It was an attack no woman deserves--including this accomplished, award winning journalist working in the White House press corps, where women are underrepresented. The Women's Media Center demonstrated in its Sexism Sells But We're Not Buying It viral campaign that sexist remarks went unchecked by networks during the primary season. Now, as then, the WMC demands accountability.

An immediate public apology is required.

But the WMC doesn't "demand accountability" when Palin and her daughters are the targets of nasty mockery. As O'Reilly was calling them out, the WMC was handing out awards in Manhattan. MediaBistro's Fishbowl NY blog reported that Gloria Feldt, WMC board member and former Planned Parenthood boss, claimed at the dinner: "The mission of WMC is to point out, with your help, all the bull[bleep]...wherever it is."

You wouldn't be able to shut them up if someone dared to make rape jokes about Hillary Clinton.

President Bush Finally Speaks Out Against Obama's Socialist Policies

CNN.com:
In his most critical comments to date of the Obama administration's policies, former President George Bush Wednesday warned against the nationalization of healthcare, government overreach in the country's financial system, and the potential effects of closing the terrorist detention center at Guantanamo Bay.

"I know it's going to be the private sector that leads this country out of the current economic times we're in," the former president said during a speech to business leaders in Erie, Pennsylvania, according to the Washington Times. "You can spend your money better than the government can spend your money."

"Government does not create wealth. The major role for the government is to create an environment where people take risks to expand the job rate in the United States," he also said in the closed-door speech, according to the paper.

During the remarks — one of Bush’s first in the United States since leaving the White House — the former president commented on a wide-range of issues currently confronting the Obama administration, including the new president's push for universal healthcare.

"There are a lot of ways to remedy the situation without nationalizing health care," Bush said. "I worry about encouraging the government to replace the private sector when it comes to providing insurance for health care."

Asked directly if he thought his successor was embracing "socialist" polices, Bush stopped short of weighing in one way or the other, instead saying: "We'll see."

Normally, I think that Bush would've waited even longer before speaking out against Barry, but when the Teleprompter-In-Chief keeps blaming his predecessor for all the nation's problems (something that even Barry's minions in the press are getting tired of, btw), what are supposed to do but speak out and defend yourself?

PETA Condemns Obama For Swatting Fly On TV

Newsmax.com:
The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants the flyswatter in chief to try taking a more humane attitude the next time he's bedeviled by a fly in the White House.

PETA is sending President Barack Obama a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap a house fly and then release it outside.

"We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals," PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich said Wednesday. "We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals."

During an interview for CNBC at the White House on Tuesday, a fly intruded on Obama's conversation with correspondent John Harwood.

"Get out of here," the president told the pesky insect. When it didn't, he waited for the fly to settle, put his hand up and then smacked it dead.

"Now, where were we?" Obama asked Harwood. Then he added: "That was pretty impressive, wasn't it? I got the sucker."

Friedrich said that PETA was pleased with Obama's voting record in the Senate on behalf of animal rights and noted that he has been outspoken against animal abuses.

Still, "swatting a fly on TV indicates he's not perfect," Friedrich said, "and we're happy to say that we wish he hadn't."

Deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said the White House has no comment on the matter.

I'm with Barry on this one, even surmise to say that I'm impressed with his Mr. Miyagi skills. And if PETA taking issue with this doesn't confirm that they're an imbecilic organization that shouldn't ever be taken seriously about anything, nothing will.

"Down With Socialism!" At Fire David Letterman Rally

Ok, Palin's accepted the apology, it's time for people to move on.

Dumb Celebrity Watch: Cameron Diaz Says The Planet Doesn't Need Any More Kids

LifeSiteNews.com:
Cameron Diaz has said in an interview in the July issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine, which comes out tomorrow, that “We don't need any more kids. We have plenty of people on this planet.”

Don Feder, from Demographic Winter, commented to LifeSiteNews that Diaz thinks there are too many people on the planet, “Because people in Hollywood, the people she works with, the people she associates with, the people she attends parties with, all the beautiful people have told her this.”

“Why do they believe it? Because they grew up in a culture that’s been telling them the same thing for forty years now,” Feder said.

He continued, asking rhetorically, “does she know that birth rates are below replacement in almost the entire industrialized world. Does she know that birth rates have fallen by 50% world wide in the last 30 years?”

“Of course she doesn’t. All she knows is [that] she hears that there are too many people.”

“She sees pictures of people in India or in Beijing or in Shanghai or wherever, and therefore she surmises that there are too many people. If you asked her how many people are enough people she probably couldn’t tell you,” he said.

Diaz has a history of anti-life statements. In 2004, Diaz spoke of the need for women to vote because “women have so much to lose. I mean, we could lose the right to our bodies [right to abortion].”

Actually the world would be a much better place if more actors just...acted, yunno, reciting lines on screen written for them by professionals, instead of opening their mouths on their own.

Why They Hate Sarah Palin

John Hawkins over at Pajama Media nails it:

It’s not unusual for politicians to inspire strong emotions. After all, there is a reason why people suggest you avoid talking about race, religion, and politics if you want to have a nice dinner conversation.

But something about Sarah Palin arouses a particularly strong reaction. Liberals attack her children, say grotesquely sexist things about her, embrace wacky conspiracy theories about her faking a pregnancy, and insult every woman in America when they suggest she can’t be a good mother and a politician, too.

Although Sarah Palin is more loved by the Right than any other politician in America, she has her detractors there as well. Staffers engage in whispering campaigns against her, quisling Republicans write offensive columns about her for liberal publications, and sneering Beltway hacks tut-tut about her on the cable news shows.

It would be understandable if Sarah Palin were president and produced this type of reaction, but the governor of Alaska? Most people couldn’t even name a half-dozen governors, much less obsess over what they’re doing.

So why does this lady produce such a big hubbub?

Well, there are many reasons for it, starting with her gender: Sarah Palin, had she been elected to the White House, would have been the first female vice president. Moreover, she has to be the odds-on favorite at this point to become the first woman president.

That upsets liberal feminists to no end because she is a living, breathing refutation of their style of feminism — which is intellectually bankrupt and seems to stand for nothing more than increasing the number of abortions, encouraging teenage girls to act like skanks, and pointlessly complaining about the “patriarchy.” Sarah Palin represents a totally different style of woman: the conservative feminist. She’s had a successful career, raised a big family, and has done it all without aborting an “inconvenient” child or carping about men keeping her down. The idea that Sarah Palin could become the new role model for feminism terrifies liberals, and it inspires them to ramp up the artillery barrage of malignity that they typically launch at conservative women — which is extraordinarily venomous to begin with. Whether it’s Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, or Carrie Prejean, there are few things on Earth that liberals hate more than strong, conservative women.

Palin’s sex has caused problems for her on the Right as well, but not the problems the Left tells you to expect — like gaggles of men who think she should be barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen. Despite the fact that Sarah Palin was the best thing to happen to John McCain’s presidential campaign, the honest truth is that she was an identity politics pick. Had she been a man, someone with her limited experience would have never been selected. On the Left, this wouldn’t have raised an eyebrow, but on the Right, it created waves of resentment that hurt Palin with some Republicans.

After the way she took on David Letterman, liberals who continue to be obsessed with her, may want to tread carefully when it comes to bashing Palin in the future. Palin still has star power, a huge following and she's really been impressive in taking on the liberal media of late. To think, Letterman's TV ratings actually rose during this whole dust-up, and that's because of Palin.

Obama Whines That FOX News Doesn't Worship Him Like All The Other Networks Do

Meddling Former President Jimmy Carter Escapes Assassination Attempt

JPost.com:

Hamas said it foiled an attempt by Palestinian terrorists to assassinate former US president Jimmy Carter during his visit to the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, Palestinian sources told news agencies.

Israeli security sources said that the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) had learned of plans to target Carter and had passed on the information to the former president's security detail in "real time."

According to Palestinian sources, terrorists linked with al Qaida hid a number of improved explosive devices along a road that Carter's convoy was scheduled to travel on inside Gaza. Hamas forces reportedly uncovered the IEDs and destroyed them.

Ismail Shahwan, spokesman for the Hamas Ministry of the Interior, denied that an Al-Qaeda-linked group had planned to assassinate Carter.

Shawan said no explosives were discovered near the Erez border crossing. He said that the visit went according to the plan.

Earlier, Carter had been quoted as saying he was holding back tears when surveying the "deliberate destruction" in Gaza following Israel's Operation Cast Lead earlier this year, Israel Radio reported.

Hey, I'm glad that Carter is alright, but at his age, it's pretty clear that he'll never understand how his continual meddling in foreign affairs not only undermines the President, but puts the lives of our troops as well as his own even more at risk. He just doesn't get it and he never will--thank goodness his reign of tyranny only lasted one term.

About time somebody put these two no-talent airheads in their place. Funny too, after Speidi went to Ryan Seacrest to bitch about how Roker "abused" them, Al had this to say on Twitter: "Heidi and Spencer are an interesting couple. famous for...being infamous. Bad and vacuous behavior. I think we're at minute 11 of their 15." Amen!

This Time David Letterman Sincerely Apologizes To Sarah Palin For Rape Jokes

Word has it that some sponsors were about to bail out on Letterman, if that's the case, this is just as sincere as his first non-apology. Whatever the case, Palin's more than made her point concerning Letterman's sick, perverted "humor" as well as the lib media's double standards on below-the-belt attacks on conservative women. If the hateful idiots on the Left could only follow the words of Barry and stay away from making personal attacks on family members, this wouldn't have ever been news. Funny too, that before he started going on rants attacking conservatives, I actually liked Letterman and thought he was much funnier than Leno.

Conservatives Grow In Number; Single Largest Ideological Group In America

Newsmax.com:

Conservatives comprise the largest ideological group in the United States, with nearly twice as many Americans saying they are conservative as those claiming to be liberal, Gallup surveys reveal.

Data issued by Gallup on Monday are based on 10 separate surveys conducted from January through May, and therefore the margins of error "are quite small," Gallup maintains.

The surveys found that thus far in 2009, 40 percent of respondents describe their political views as conservative, 35 percent as moderate, and 21 percent as liberal. The rest said they have "no opinion.”

Included in the conservative figure are the 9 percent who said they are "very conservative," while the liberals' figure includes 5 percent who are "very liberal."

A solid majority of Republicans, 73 percent, call themselves conservative, 24 percent are moderate and only 3 percent are liberal.

Democrats are more equally divided, with 40 percent saying they are moderate and 38 percent describing their views as liberal. A surprising 22 percent of Democrats say they are conservative, Gallup found.

With a Democrat president and a majority in both the Senate and House, liberals have been out in force boasting of "their" accomplishments, while predicting the death of the GOP. All this without acknowledging the major assistance of moderates and centrists who contributed heavily to Democratic gains in Congress. Hell to many liberals, conservative Democrats don't even exist, despite evidence to the contrary. And maybe that's what Barack Obama keeps in mind when you consider, of late, the arrogance of radical liberals who feel that they own the Democrat party of late.

Liberal Media Ignores Rallies Supporting Traditional Marriage

Newsbusters.org:

On June 9 a rally that saw thousands of participants in support of traditional marriage assembled at Albany, New York, the state capitol. One month earlier, a similar rally was held in Midtown Manhattan that also saw thousands in attendance. And in neither case was there much by the way of media coverage.

A Google search of the words marriage rally in New York June 9 turns up many hits on the story. But almost all of them are from blogs as opposed to traditional media sources, though the Village Voice covered the May rally in Manhattan.

The events were sponsored by New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms, which itself has found round criticism in lefty blogs. But, isn't this just the point? The rallies that saw thousands attend, and the discussion of all the issues, pro and con, that are connected with the rallies are being hashed out in blogs, but not in the Old Media. With all this discussion going on, wouldn't it seem that the media might give it a line or two?

It's certainly something I've noticed reading the NYC papers of late--almost zero coverage of traditional marriage rallies/support, yet advocation for the New York Senate to approve "gay marriage". Of course, with the Senate being in shambles of late, who knows when and if same-sex marriage will happen here, but in the meantime the outright bias in covering the "gay marriage" issue in NYC by the media here has been a disgrace.

GOP Activist Compares Michelle Obama To A "Gorilla"

This is the kind of stuff that gets the GOP in trouble all the time. Granted, most conservatives are well aware that it's the Democrat party that was once a cesspool for racism, but over the years the Left has done a great job in making folks forget about that while placing the culpability of ignorance in this country squarely on the backs of the Right. This bout of sheer stupidity only sets the GOP back even further.

My verdict? Tie. Walsh did hold her ground. But no matter whose side you're on, this will definitely go down as a classic. If only Krazy Keith O. had the guts to debate conservatives on "Countdown," it might actually help his failing ratings.

Former President George H.W. Bush Stands Up For Sonia Sotomayor

CNN.com:
Former President George H.W. Bush stood up for his former judicial nominee Sonia Sotomayor Friday, telling HLN Anchor Robin Meade that GOP critics who called President Obama's Supreme Court pick a racist were off-base, and unfair.

"I don't know her that well but I think she's had a distinguished record on the bench and she should be entitled to fair hearings. Not – [it's] like the senator John Cornyn said it," he told CNN. "He may vote for it, he may not. But he's been backing away from these…backing off from those radical statements to describe her, to attribute things to her that may or may not be true.

"And she was called by somebody a racist once. That's not right. I mean that's not fair. It doesn't help the process. You're out there name-calling. So let them decide who they want to vote for and get on with it."

High-profile Republican voices like former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh had both accused the judge of racism for her past comment that a "wise Latina" might make more informed judicial decisions than a white male. Gingrich later backed away from that assessment.

Cornyn had urged Republicans to avoid labeling Sotomayor a racist, calling that brand of criticism unhelpful to the process.

Good for Daddy Bush. Sonia Sotomayor deserves to be on the Supreme Court.
