House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is engaging in a "despicable, dishonest and vicious political effort" to withhold what she knew about the CIA's aggressive interrogation techniques, Newt Gingrich said Friday, in what amounts to the harshest criticism yet leveled at the California Democrat."Trivial politician"! Woah Newt, don't be so passive there, tell us what you really think.In an interview with ABC Radio, the former House Speaker said Pelosi flat-out "lied to the House" when she earlier claimed the CIA had never briefed her about the Bush administration's use of aggressive interrogation techniques including waterboarding.
"I think that the House has an absolute obligation to open an inquiry, and I hope there will be a resolution to investigate her. And I think this is a big deal. I don't think the Speaker of the House can lie to the country on national security matters," Gingrich said.
Pelosi has been under fire from critics who say that she was fully briefed on the techniques in 2002 and 2003. On Thursday, the California Democrat accused CIA officials of misleading her, reiterating an earlier claim that she was briefed on such techniques only once — in September 2002 — and that she was told at the time that the techniques were not being used.
Pelosi also said the briefing she received from the CIA was incomplete and inaccurate, and she called on the CIA to release a full transcript of the briefing. She also accused Republicans of jumping on reports of the briefings to cause a distraction.
"She is a trivial politician, viciously using partisanship for the narrowest of purposes, and she dishonors the Congress by her behavior," Gingrich also said in the blistering interview.

Bloomberg for re-election, according to a lawsuit filed against the group on Wednesday.
Joyce S. Johnson, the chief executive of the Black Equity Alliance, asserted in the suit, filed in State Supreme Court, that before she was fired, several board members scolded her for endorsing the mayor without their consent.
Such an endorsement, board members told her, could jeopardize the group’s nonprofit status, which prohibits political endorsements.
A spokesperson for the Black Equity Alliance, which was founded in 2003 to support human services, religious-based and community development organizations that work with African-Americans, did not return telephone messages on Wednesday. The board of the organization includes Rudy Crew, who was New York City schools chancellor during the Giuliani administration and is named as a defendant in the suit.
A lawyer for Ms. Johnson, Douglas H. Wigdor, said it was illegal to terminate an employee for political activities done outside of work. Ms. Johnson, in her lawsuit, said she endorsed the mayor on her personal time – and in her personal capacity, not as chief executive of the Black Equity Alliance.

In a reversal, President Barack Obama is fighting the release of dozens of new photos showing U.S. personnel allegedly abusing prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan, a White House official said Wednesday.Good for Barry. Instead of pandering to all the Bush-haters on the Left, who seek vengeance on the previous administration regardless of whose lives might be at risk, Obama caters to common sense. Of course these photos should not be released. Of course these photos could endanger military people in hostile territory.Obama's decision came after the top military commanders in Iraq and Afghanistan told the president they feared the release of the photos could endanger their troops.
Obama decided he did not feel comfortable with the release and last week instructed his legal team to challenge it in court, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the president's decision had not yet been made public.
Obama has instructed administration lawyers to make the case that the national security implications of such a release have not been fully presented to the court, the official said.
The president informed Gen. Ray Odierno, commander of U.S. troops in Iraq, of his decision during a White House meeting on Tuesday.
Gen. David Petraeus, the senior commander for both wars, had also weighed in, as had Gen. David McKiernan, the top general in Afghanistan. Gates fired McKiernan on Monday for unrelated reasons.
A former death row inmate in Tennessee has been cleared of murder, three years after the Supreme Court raised repeated questions about his conviction.State prosecutors on Tuesday asked a judge to drop all charges against Paul House, who was convicted of murder and sentenced to die in 1986. Special Judge Jon Blackwood accepted the request.
House had been scheduled to be executed next month for the 1985 murder of Carolyn Muncey. He had been on death row for 22 years but was released on bail last year. He has multiple sclerosis and must use a wheelchair.
The high court ruled in June 2006 that House was entitled to a new hearing.
"Although the issue is closed, we conclude that this is the rare case where -- had the jury heard all the conflicting testimony -- it is more likely than not that no reasonable juror viewing the record as a whole would lack reasonable doubt," wrote Justice Anthony Kennedy for the 5-3 majority.
House's appeal was championed by the Innocence Project, affiliated with the Cardozo School of Law in New York.
"In the three years since the U.S. Supreme Court stepped into this case and sent it back to the trial court, substantial additional DNA testing and further investigation have shown that he is innocent," said Peter Neufeld, the group's co-director. "Each time a layer of this case was peeled away, it revealed more evidence of Paul House's innocence."
If it were up to vengeance-seeking death enthusiasts another innocent man would've been killed thanks to state-sanctioned murder. Paul House is yet another reason why the death penalty needs to be abolished for good.

Liz Cheney is picking up where her father left off when it comes to taking aim at the Obama administration, saying Tuesday the new commander-in-chief appears to be siding with terrorists.Good for Liz Cheney! Finally, the daughter of a prominent GOP member that we can all be proud of.In an interview on Fox News, the daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney sharply criticized the new administration for agreeing to release photographs depicting alleged abuses at U.S. prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush administration.
"I think it is really appalling that the administration is taking this step," she said in the interview. "Clearly what they are doing is releasing images that show American military men and woman in a very negative light."
"I have heard from families of service members from families of 9/11 victims this question about when did it become so fashionable for us to side, really, with the terrorists," she continued. "You know, President Obama has a lot of rhetoric about support for American military families, support for our men and women who are fighting for us overseas. But if he really cares about them, then he wouldn't be making such an effort to release photos that show them in a negative light."
Late last month, Pentagon officials said the hundreds of photographs released are from more than 60 criminal investigations from 2001 to 2006, and show military personnel allegedly abusing detainees. But the officials rejected allegations by the American Civil Liberties Union that the photos show a systemic pattern of abuse by the military.

In other words, did he let Prejean keep her title after news surfaced recently that Miss Rhode Island USA, Alysha Castonguay, had posed for even racier pictures in a men's magazine, and yet still kept her crown? Surely Trump had to think about the double standard there if he took Preejan's title away (not to mention the risk of a lawsuit). Bottom line, like most of us Prejean did some things while she was young that she probably regrets, but nothing so insane that she deserved to lose her crown. This whole controversy just serves as another example of how the Left will try to bully, smear and attack those they don't like--but this time they lost.Carrie Prejean appeared by Trump's side as he made the announcement at New York's Trump Tower.
Trump also defended the answer that Prejean gave at last month's Miss USA pageant when she was asked her view of marriage by judge Perez Hilton, a celebrity blogger. She said she believes marriage is between a man and a woman.
"It's the same answer the president of the United States gave; it's the same answer many people gave," Trump said. "She gave an honorable answer; she gave an answer from her heart."
Trump said he and other pageant officials had reviewed racy photos of Prejean and decided they were acceptable.
"We are in the 21st century. We have determined the pictures taken are fine," he said, adding that "in some cases the pictures were lovely."
After Trump spoke, the 21-year-old Prejean, who was accompanied by her parents, took her turn at the lectern, defending herself against what she described as vicious attacks.
She talked about getting thousands of letters and e-mails from people supporting her and said, about the marriage question, that Hilton had asked her a "politically charged question with a hidden personal agenda."

“The security guard sent her to talk to someone to sort out the situation, but Meghan got bratty and nastily told him, ‘We’ll just stand here then,’ like an insolent child,” our source said, adding that after dealing with the guard, “She muttered to her friends, ‘Does he even know who the f--- I am?’ ”
An insider told us, “Those tickets were harder to get than gold dust and Meghan blatantly only had two and thought she didn’t have to follow the same rules as everyone else.”
The vocal McCain “was complaining about everything from the air-conditioning to the wait,” says our leak.
Once inside, the bubbly blond’s mood didn’t improve; she was annoyed at Wanda Sykes’ roast.

Sykes' most vicious jabs were reserved for Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Limbaugh, who has been among Obama's fiercest critics.
"I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker but he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight," Sykes said. "He needs a good waterboarding - that's what he needs."
Sykes noted that Palin was scheduled to attend the dinner, but then "pulled out at the last minute."

The U.S. economy continued to hemorrhage jobs in February, bringing total job losses over the last six months to more than 3.3 million, and taking the unemployment rate to its highest level in 25 years.Barack Obama didn't "inherit" a bad economy, he chose to run for President with the plan that he could fix it. "Change we can believe in"--what a laugh riot that Barry is.The government reported Friday that employers slashed 651,000 jobs in February, down from a revised loss of 655,000 jobs in January. December's loss was also revised higher to a loss of 681,000 jobs, a 59-year high for losses in one month.
Economists surveyed by Briefing.com had forecast a loss of 650,000 jobs in February.
"The economy is headed south with a vengeance," said Kurt Karl, head of economic research for the U.S. unit of insurer Swiss Re.
The unemployment rate rose to 8.1% from 7.6% in January. It was the highest reading since December 1983 and higher than economists' projections of 7.9%.
Most workers who have jobs today are not old enough to have worked in a labor market this bad, while 13% of workers weren't even alive the last time unemployment was at this level.
