Proof That Nancy Pelosi Lied About Having Knowledge Of Waterboarding

From WaPo.com:
Intelligence officials released documents this evening saying that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was briefed in September 2002 about the use of harsh interrogation tactics against al-Qaeda prisoners, seemingly contradicting her repeated statements over the past 18 months that she was never told that these techniques were actually being used.

In a 10-page memo outlining an almost seven-year history of classified briefings, intelligence officials said that Pelosi and then-Rep. Porter Goss (R-Fla.) were the first two members of Congress ever briefed on the interrogation tactics. Then the ranking member and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, respectively, Pelosi and Goss were briefed Sept. 4, 2002, one week before the first anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The memo, issued by the Director of National Intelligence and the Central Intelligence Agency to Capitol Hill, notes the Pelosi-Goss briefing covered "EITs including the use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah." EIT is an acronym for enhanced interrogation technique. Zubaydah was one of the earliest valuable al-Qaeda members captured and the first to have the controversial tactic known as water boarding used against him.

The issue of what Pelosi knew and when she knew it has become a matter of heated debate on Capitol Hill. Republicans have accused her of knowing for many years precisely the techniques CIA agents were using in interrogations, and only protesting the tactics when they became public and liberal antiwar activists protested.
Liar.

Obama Refuses To Pray On National Day Of Prayer

OneNewsNow.com:
On Thursday, for the first time in nine years, there won't be a White House ceremony in observance of the National Day of Prayer.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says President Barack Obama will pray privately as he does every day, but his only public acknowledgement will be to issue a White House proclamation.

Republican Congressman Randy Forbes, co-chairman of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, says a proclamation urging Americans to pray would be more meaningful if the president set a public example. Forbes calls it a missed opportunity, but says, "Hopefully we'll have millions of people around the country that will make up for the void we see at the White House on the National Day of Prayer."
Once again Barry's looking out for his liberal base here, those who can't stand the mention of God or Christianity, much less anything having to do with morals and values. Plus this upholds Barry's statement (made during a recent trip to Turkey) that "America isn't a Christian nation".

Oprah Winfrey Declares Michelle Obama "The Greatest First Lady Ever!"

NYDailyNews.com:

Though the room was filled with luminaries from around the world, most were star-struck to be in First Lady's company - even old friend Oprah Winfrey, her tablemate at the event.

"Seeing as how Michelle is the greatest First Lady we've ever known, not to take anything away from the other First Ladies, but I think its so fantastic that she's tonight's guest and leads the pack of influentials," Winfrey told the Daily News.

That's amazing. Former First Ladies like Laura Bush, Nancy Reagan and Eleanor Roosevelt, each noted for their superb humanitarian efforts while First Lady, should feel happy knowing that all their work has already been surpassed by Michelle O (of course, what exactly. And to think, Michelle has accomplished "Greatest First Lady" status in only 3 months! Imagine what "Ms. I'm Wearing $540 Sneakers While Helping The Poor" can do in the 3-plus years she has left! Queen Oprah will certainly be sure to let us know.

Liberal Judge Sonia Sotomayor Once Stated That Courts Make Law

From all accounts radical judge Sonia Sotomayor seems to be the frontrunner to fill David Souter's spot on SCOTUS after he retires. And while the popular view is that Obama will pick a left-leaning judge to replace Souter (which would seemingly leave the ideology of the Court intact), a video has surfaced that Senate conservatives should be very worried about, one showing Sotomayor stating on the record that it's the courts job to set public policy:

Unbelievable as well as a complete and utter disregard of the law. Notice too how she just laughs off her foolish admission. It's no secret that the Left would love to have an activist judge, one who makes decisions on their emotions instead of the Constitution, on SCOTUS. It's no secret that Barry will mostly seek to please his liberal base with who he picks for SCOTUS, instead of finding the person that's best for the job. That's the way liberals roll and with a clear majority in the Senate, there's really not much in the way to stop them. But for a judge to state on the record that public policy is made in the Appeals court is criminal, and thus, judge Sotomayor should be disqualified for nomination to the Supreme Court.

Colin Powell Needs To STFU!

Newsmax.com:

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell blasted Rush Limbaugh Monday during a speech in which he said the Republican Party is in a state of collapse.

The GOP is "getting smaller and smaller" and "that's not good for the nation," Powell said, according to the National Journal. He also said he hopes that emerging GOP leaders, such as House Minority Whip Cantor, will not keep repeating mantras of the far right.

Powell lashed out at Limbaugh and conservative icon Ann Coulter. Neither serves the party well, Powell said during a speech to corporate security executives at a conference in Washington sponsored by Fortify Software Inc.

"I think what Rush does as an entertainer diminishes the party and intrudes or inserts into our public life a kind of nastiness that we would be better to do without," Powell said.

And Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, McCain's running mate last year, is "a very accomplished person" but became "a very polarizing figure," he said, adding that Palin's advisers created the polarization.

Colin Powell is an idiot. Seriously. Why should any member of the GOP take anything this man says with earnest after he voted for Barack Obama? Last year, Powell turned his back on his party to support a man who stands for everything the GOP is against, from social values to healthcare to how we handle our economy. Powell's mad at Limbaugh because the radio host had the balls to call him out for supporting Barry in the election solely because he's black. And how funny is it that Powell would try to diss Sarah Palin for being "polarizing", when the consensus pick for most polarizing figure is now our Secretary of State? If Powell is that unhappy with the GOP, he should do an Arlen Specter and just leave, instead of pulling this con job pretending to care about the GOP's future after he betrayed his own party and endorsed the most liberal senator of our time to be our President.

Vengeful Liberals Post Racy Photos Of Carrie Prejean Online

OneNewsNow.com:
Miss California says a website has posted racy photos of her in an attempt to belittle her Christianity.

Carrie Prejean says photos taken of her as a teenager had been released "surreptitiously to a tabloid website that openly mocks me for my Christian faith." In a statement, Prejean also says the attacks on her and others who "speak in defense of traditional marriage" are intolerant and offensive.

A photo of Prejean wearing only pink panties with her back turned to the camera appeared Monday on a gossip blog.

She also says that she's a model, and models pose for pictures -- "including lingerie and swimwear photos."

Nevada Attorney General Files Voter Fraud Charges Against ACORN

Considering all the dirty antics conservatives exposed about ACORN during last year's presidential campaign, I'm surprised that something like this hadn't occurred earlier:
Nevada's attorney general on Monday filed criminal charges accusing liberal community activist group ACORN and two of its employees of facilitating voter registration fraud in November's election by requiring canvassers to submit 20 applications each day or face termination.

Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller and Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto , both Democrats, announced the charges, stressing that there's no evidence that the phony registrations led to the casting of votes using fake identities.

A spokesman for ACORN, a nationwide grassroots organization, assailed the action as "political grandstanding."

Andrew Sullivan Is STILL Smearing Sarah Palin

It's official, Barry's favorite blogger is suffering from deep
Palin Derangement Syndrome:

This is unfinished business - a news event that got swallowed up by the release of the ICRC report, the OLC Memos and the Senate Armed Services report. But given this blog's coverage of governor Palin's various strange stories about Trig, and her continued refusal to provide any medical records to confirm her account, her speech to the Kansas Right To Life organization - her first public explanation for her unusual behavior, since the MSM decided it was a question that could not be asked - is worth entering into the public record.

She explains above what she describes as her "fleeting moment" of temptation to abort Trig when she found out she was pregnant at an out of state energy conference, and her decision to keep the pregnancy secret for seven months (an endeavor made easier by the fact that no one seeing her had any idea up to the very day she announced). I tend to assume that everything Palin says is untrue until proven otherwise, and in this case, have no basis to confirm or deny anything. But it is also only fair to give her own explanation for her secrecy an airing.

For the record, she says that she kept her pregnancy secret for seven months because there were "neanderthals" out there who would have refused to believe that a pregnant woman could handle her public duties as governor, and because of her own conflicted feelings about having a Down Syndrome child at the age of 44. She does not explain the bizarre circumstances of the day-long labor on various airplanes. But, hey, maybe at some point, she will. When she does, I will do my best to bring it to you. Maybe one day - who knows? - a journalist might even ask.

It's just amazing, months after the Presidential election, how much Sullivan can't let go of his bitter hatred towards Sarah Palin. Yet this is a man whose rants are taken quite seriously by the Left. You'd think some liberal with rank with rank would have enough smarts to tell this nutcase to quit as his credibility gets shot more and more with every insane missive he hurls denying that Palin gave birth to her son Trig. It helps you understand that his failings are not so much his arrogance as they are his sheer depravity. The man is clearly in need of professional help.

Ida Ljungqvist Is The First Black Playmate of the Year!

My guess is that this wasn't on the top of the priority list for Black folks who overwhelmingly voted for Barry this past year begging for "change", but hey, what the heck:
Hugh Hefner named Ida Ljungqvist Playboy’s 50th Playmate of the Year tonight at the Palms Casino Resort. She is the first-ever African born Playmate. Celebrity Apprentice star and 2001 Playmate of the Year, Brande Roderick hosted the event along with Palms owner George Maloof. Along with her title, Ida received $100,000 in prize money, a 2009 Mazada6 sports sedan and a very special one-of-a kind engraved bottle of Patron Platinum.

Guests included Holly Madison, Jeff Garcia, Michael Andretti, Deron Williams (Utah Jazz), along with more than 50 Playmates across 6 decades. Guests enjoyed dinner from Kerry Simon from Simon at Palms Place. After the event Hugh Hefner and Ida celebrated at the Playboy Club inside the fantasy tower at the Palms.
The torch gets passed from one ho to another. Congrats!

UPDATE: A reader at Booker Rising noted that Ira Ljungqvist is NOT the first Black "Playmate of the Year", Renee Tenison has that honor. My bad.

Condoleezza Rice Pwnes Liberal College Students

It's funny how easily Rice schooled this self-righteous condescending prick, who could do nothing but spout liberal talking points he probably memorized on Dkos. Of course, colleges around the country are filled to the tee with leftwing professors who program these naive young bucks with liberal propaganda--I know because I was one of them.

John Edwards Campaign Funds Being Probed By Feds

AP:
Two-time Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards is acknowledging a federal inquiry into his campaign funds.

Edwards said in a statement obtained by The Associated Press on Sunday that he is confident no campaign funds were used improperly. He says he has made people and information available to resolve the issue in a timely manner.

The News & Observer of Raleigh was first to report that Edwards acknowledged the investigation.

A range of nonprofit and political groups that have been linked to Edwards have been under public scrutiny, including payments his political action committee made to a woman with whom he had an affair. Edwards acknowledged the affair in August.

U.S. Attorney George Holding has said he won't confirm or deny whether an investigation is ongoing.

Well it's about time. Edwards' campaign funds have been suspect for years now, ever since his relations with the Saudis became public, ever since it was found that he used them to pay for trysts with his mistress Rielle Hunter. John Edwards has conned Americans for way too long now, the guy belongs in prison.

Barack Obama Disses Black Farmers

Wow, a black president turning his back on some of his own people:
As a senator, Barack Obama led the charge last year to pass a bill allowing black farmers to seek new discrimination claims against the Agriculture Department. Now he is president, and his administration so far is acting like it wants the potentially budget-busting lawsuits to go away.

The change isn't sitting well with black farmers who thought they'd get a friendlier reception from Obama after years of resistance from President George W. Bush.

"You can't blame it on the Bush administration anymore," said John Boyd, head of the National Black Farmers Association, which has organized the lawsuits. "I can't figure out for the life of me why the president wouldn't want to implement a bill that he fought for as a U.S. senator."

At issue is a class-action lawsuit known as the Pigford case. Thousands of farmers sued USDA claiming they had for years been denied government loans and other assistance that routinely went to whites. The government settled in 1999 and has paid out nearly $1 billion in damages on almost 16,000 claims.

Farmers, lawyers and activists like Boyd have worked for years to reopen the case because thousands of farmers missed the deadlines for participating. Many said the filing period was too short and they were unaware of the settlement until it was too late.

The cause gained momentum in August 2007 when Obama, then an Illinois senator, introduced Pigford legislation about six months into his presidential campaign.

Although the case was hardly a hot-button political issue, it had drawn intense interest among African-Americans in the rural South. It was seen as a way for Obama to reach out in those areas, where he was not well-known and where he would need strong support to win the Democratic primary.

Proof once again that Barack Obama caters to the agenda of far-Left, white liberals. I mean, when you think about it, what has Barry done for blacks since he took office? Not a damn thing. Whether it's failing to address black-on-black crime, the onslaught of drugs in urban communities, police brutality and/or the rise of teenage pregnancy amongst young, minority women, Obama just doesn't seem to be concerned about the ails plaguing the black community, despite the fact that blacks voted in record numbers for him in the last election. Yet, in his first 100 days in office, Barry has wasted no time dealing with top-notch items on the white, liberal's agenda such as taxing the rich, attempting to close Guantanamo Bay, global warming and overturning stem-cell research regulations. Indeed, how black liberals remain so in love with this man is beyond me.

Laura Ingraham Pwnes Feminazi Gloria Feldt

Some feminazi by the name of Gloria Feldt came on The O'Reilly Factor yesterday to discuss the attacks on Miss California, Carrie Prejean, for daring to publicly support traditional marriage. Feldt opens up by slandering fill-in host Laura Ingraham, who notes that she's never even heard of her. After Feldt attacks Prejean's looks and fake breasts, Ingraham lets her have it.

Joe Biden Alarmism Leads To Flu Hysteria

CNN.com:

A runny nose. A cough. A sore throat. And even pork eaten a week ago.

After a week of headlines about the H1N1 virus, or swine flu, many emergency rooms and hospitals are crammed with people, many of whom don't need to be there.

The visits by the "worried well" have triggered concerns of overburdening the nation's hospitals and emergency departments, several health care professionals told CNN.

This week, some hospitals saw record numbers of patients. A few emergency departments shut down to paramedics because of overcrowding.

"We have had a lot of nervous patients with minimal respiratory tract symptoms," said Dr. Mark Bell, principal of Emergent Medical Associates, which operates 18 emergency departments in Southern California. "It has caused signficiant amount of delays in emergency care. They're all walking well."

"I haven't seen such a panic among communities perhaps ever," Bell said. "We are spending significant time in the emergency department, calming people down. Right now, people think if they have a cough or a cold, they're going to die. That's a scary, frightening place to be in. I wish that this hysteria had not occurred and that we had tempered a little bit of our opinions and thoughts and fears in the media. It just went haywire."

America was safe when Joe Biden was just a little-known Senator from Delaware with a penchant for foot-in-the-mouth disease. But now that he's VP, we're forced to listen to him, thus, the American people must deal with the consequences.

My Couch Sees No Color

Keith Olbermann Negotiated $3.5Million Raise While Employer Got Bailout

As more folks get a wind of this, will Crazy Keith nominate himself for "Worst Person in the World!" this week? I highly doubt it:

Keith Olbermann, the host of an eponymous news and entertainment program on MSNBC, makes great sport of tossing angry rocks in the direction of conservatives and Republicans. He comes across as very tough when he dishes out his scorn. But, thanks to a new site on the Internet, we may soon be able to find out whether or not he can take it.

The Worst Bailout in the World has just gone live on the Internet with a petition asking Olbermann, who works for a company owned by General Electric, to return the $3.5 million in additional compensation awarded him in his new contract to the U.S. Treasury.

Says the site:

While General Electric, the parent-company of your MSNBC network, was negotiating a $126 billion taxpayer-funded bailout, you signed a new contract raising your salary from $4 million to $7.5 million annually. You have used your show as a platform to call for the resignation of corporate executives accepting excessive bonuses on the backs of taxpayers who are picking up the tab for these atrocious bailouts, yet you yourself have no problem engaging in the same "class economic rape" that you access them of.

Please heed you own advice and stop accepting taxpayer money to subsidize your nightly diatribes. Resign or return the balance of your excessive raise to the U.S. Treasury.

Says one of the people involved in putting up the site, "It is just outrageous that Olbermann, night after night, goes after executives at so-called bailout firms when he himself works for one. He likes to call other people on their inconsistencies—he calls them the worst person in the world. Well, he needs to take a look in the mirror."

Ted Kennedy Uses Matthew Shepard To Push 'Hate Crimes' Bill

WorldNetDaily.com:

A bill that would provide federal money to train law enforcement officers to identify and criminally prosecute speech and thought offensive to homosexuals has been introduced into the U.S. Senate, matching a House-approved bill that critics fear will be used to crack down on biblical teachings.

The proposal, from Democratic Sens. Edward Kennedy and Patrick Leahy, aligns with H.R. 1913, which was approved in the U.S. House yesterday.

It denies protections to classes of citizens such as pastors, Christians, missionaries, veterans and the elderly that would be granted to homosexuals and those with gender issues.

It it named the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act after a Wyoming homosexual who was killed in a horrific robbery and beating in 1998.

It also provides money "to improve the education and training

of local officials to identify, investigate, prosecute and prevent hate crimes."

Kennedy described "hate crimes" as "especially poisonous."

"They are acts of domestic terrorism that target whole communities, not just individuals," he claimed. "This bill will bring greater protection to our citizens and much-needed resources for state and local law enforcement to fight these vicious crimes."

Well, this was bound to happen: use of the Matthew Shepard hoax to expand Hate Crime legislation. Rep. Virginia Foxx recently got into some hot water with liberals for daring to mention that Shepard's homosexuality had nothing to do with his being killed (a point that was confirmed by a ABC News report several ago). And the gay lobby has been exploiting Shepard's death for awhile, practically turning the kid into a martyr, just so the likes of Ted Kennedy can attempt to silence Christians. Amazing.

Barack Obama Gets His Torture Points From Andrew Sullivan

Scary:

Is Barack Obama reading blogs, particularly the site of one of his campaign's most committed supporters, Andrew Sullivan?

At his press conference on Wednesday evening, the president defended his decision to end the use of torture on detainees, by citing an article he had recently read, in which it was noted that during World War II, Winston Churchill refused to use such tactics on the spies captured by the British.

"I was struck by an article that I was reading the other day talking about the fact that the British during World War II, when London was being bombed to smithereens, had 200 or so detainees," said Obama. "And Churchill said, 'We don't torture,' when the entire British -- all of the British people were being subjected to unimaginable risk and threat."

Which article he was referencing was a mystery to both the press corps and members of Obama's own communications team who, in the minutes after the press conference, professed to being in the dark.

Challenged to do some digging, the Huffington Post's Marcus Baram found what seemed to be the right match.

On April 23, Sullivan, a native of England himself, penned a post titled: "Churchill vs Cheney." In it, the Atlantic scribe noted that despite having "captured over 500 enemy spies operating in Britain and elsewhere," and having his country's "very survival [hanging] in the balance," Churchill "knew that embracing torture was the equivalent of surrender to the barbarism he was fighting."

Asked whether the Sullivan post was, in fact, the point of reference for Obama's remarks, aides to the president did not immediately return request for comment. But the similarities are certainly suggestive.

Important to note, however, is how Sullivan ended his article by declaring: "Torture is the weapon of cowards and bullies and monsters. Cheney is all three. Prosecute him."

Obama, who has shied away from the topic of prosecution (indeed, stated his preference not to "look back"), left that bit out.
