Former Vice President Dan Quayle gives President Barack Obama high marks for surrounding himself with quality advisers on national security and the economy. But Quayle says it's not yet clear whether Obama's Democratic administration will govern more liberally than he campaigned.
The Republican tells The Associated Press he thinks the president's biggest challenge will be to tame the left wing of his party. He says the country soon will find out how far to the left Obama really is as he decides how to tackle the growing deficit.
Quayle says Obama will have to pick between going along with the leftist Democrats or "stare them down" and govern more from the center-left.
