Jesse Helms Quote of the Day!

"I came up between the two world wars during the Depression. All the people around me emphasized working and savings and personal responsibility. They spelled out in one way or another the uniqueness of America. This has largely been lost. Nobody would have thought of turning to the government to solve all our problems."

Joey Chestnut Keeps The Hot Dog Eating Championship in America

Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest was today and the 10-minute competition ended with defending champ Joey Chestnut and 6-time winner Kobayashi tying at 59 dogs each! So they had to do a dog-off (with whoever eating 5 dogs first winning), and in the end the Chestnut came thru and the coveted hot-dog eating championship stays in America where it belongs!

Have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend everyone!

Will Barack Obama Flip-Flop On Iraq Too?

The presumptive Democratic nominee for President is
making his first trip to Iraq in almost 3 years and the big question is whether Mr. I-Was-Against-The-War-From-The-Start have a change of heart once he sees that the surge is working or that Iraq has now met most of its benchmarks? Charles Krauthammer predicts he will:

Obama's seasonally adjusted principles are beginning to pile up: NAFTA, campaign finance reform, warrantless wiretaps, flag pins, gun control. What's left?

Iraq. The reversal is coming, and soon.

Two weeks ago, I predicted that by Election Day Obama will have erased all meaningful differences with McCain on withdrawal from Iraq. I underestimated Obama's cynicism. He will make the move much sooner. He will use his upcoming Iraq trip to acknowledge the remarkable improvements on the ground and to abandon his primary season commitment to a fixed 16-month timetable for removal of all combat troops.

The shift has already begun. Thursday, he said that his "original position" on withdrawal has always been that "we've got to make sure that our troops are safe and that Iraq is stable." And that "when I go to Iraq ... I'll have more information and will continue to refine my policies."
If Obama thinks the loons in his base are mad at him now, wait till he hears all the cries of betrayal once he gets back with a different stance on the war. You just know that some of them will be whining even louder for Billary to get back in this thing too. "Change"? Why he's just your typical politician.

Proof That Abstinence Education Does Work

Abstinence education, an option for our youth that if practiced is guaranteed to prevent disease and pregnancies, is a useful tool that the sex-obsessed, just-use-a-condom, billion-dollar abortion industry supporting liberal abhors and continually states is nothing but a failure. Yet, in certain areas around the world its worked to startling effect:

“We understand that casual sex is dear to you, but staying alive is dear to us.”

The Washington Post provided a rare service on Monday, shining light on an unfolding scandal of deadly political correctness in Uganda.

The quote above is from “Let My People Go, AIDS Profiteers,” an op-ed column in the Post by the Rev. Sam L. Ruteikara, co-chair of Uganda’s National AIDS-Prevention Committee.

Ruteikara details how Uganda’s successful ABC campaign (Abstinence, Be Faithful, Condoms as a last resort) recorded huge advances in reducing infections from 1991 through 2002, but was subverted by an AIDS establishment that dislikes Uganda’s emphasis on marriage and faithfulness.

HIV rates plunged from 21 percent in 1991 to 6 percent in 2002 in Uganda during the stricken nation’s campaign to restore traditional morality. Meanwhile, as Western nations dropped more than 2 billion condoms on Africa, other nations suffered an unabated epidemic. Uganda stuck out as the grand exception.

Bush Takes Nelson Mandela Off Terrorist List

I'm no big fan of Nelson Mandela or his faux democratic-socialist positions, but this whole Mandela/terrorist scandal was pretty stupid:
The United States has removed former South African president Nelson Mandela and his African National Congress from a three-decade old immigration watch list for possible terrorists, the White House said Tuesday.

In time for the anti-apartheid leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner's 90th birthday on July 18, President George W. Bush signed a bill Tuesday which effectively ended a system in which Mandela had to get special certification from the US secretary of state that he is not a terrorist in order to visit the United States.

Now Mandela and members of the ANC will be able to simply apply for visas to travel to the United States, the State Department said.

"Today the United States finally has removed from its legal code a vestige of that time of collective insults against human dignity," said House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Howard Berman, one of the bill's supporters.

Fake Christian Barack Obama Wants To Expand Bush's Faith-Based Programs

Newsmax.com:
Reaching out to evangelical voters, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is announcing plans to expand President Bush's program steering federal social service dollars to religious groups and - in a move sure to cause controversy - support some ability to hire and fire based on faith.

Obama was unveiling his approach to getting religious charities more involved in government anti-poverty programs during a tour and remarks Tuesday in Zanesville, Ohio, at Eastside Community Ministry, which provides food, clothes, youth ministry and other services.

"The challenges we face today ... are simply too big for government to solve alone," Obama was to say, according to a prepared text of his remarks obtained by The Associated Press. "We need all hands on deck."

Yet, at the same time he's pandering to evangelical voters and conservatives, Obama is speaking out against protecting the sanctity of marriage:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama took a strong stand this weekend against a constitutional amendment to appear on California’s ballot in November that would effectively overturn the state supreme court’s recent decision legalizing same-sex marriage.

In a letter to the Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club read yesterday at the group's annual Pride Breakfast, Senator Obama wrote, “I am proud to join with and support the LGBT community in an effort to set our nation on a course that recognizes LGBT Americans with full equality under the law … that is why I oppose the divisive and discriminatory efforts to amend the California Constitution, and similar efforts to amend the U.S. Constitution or those of other states.”

The more you find out about Senator Obama, the more you just can't trust the guy.

Barack Distances Himself From Wesley Clark's Idiocy

CNN:
Barack Obama formally rejected Gen. Wesley Clark's recent comments Monday that questioned whether the John McCain's military experience qualified him to be commander in chief.

"As he's said many times before, Senator Obama honors and respects Senator McCain's service, and of course he rejects yesterday's statement by General Clark," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement.

The comments came in an interview on CBS Sunday when Clark suggested McCain's experience as a prisoner of war did not alone provide the necessary experience to set the country's national security policies.

Barack Obama may be the most liberal senator in the entire Congress, but that doesn't make him a dummy. When you have no military experience yourself, while knowing little about foreign policy and a surrogate goes off the deep end dissing an opponent that happened to be a POW, the last thing you want to do is be associated with that kind of in-your-face stupidity. Apparently, Obama wants the voters to dig and find out for themselves just what a partisan, left-wing loon of a politician he really is. Good thinking Barack! What they don't know won't hurt ya.

Gallup Poll Shows John McCain Tied With Barack

TNR.com:

The new Gallup poll showing McCain and Obama tied is very, very welcome in McCainLand. McCain aides insist that two earlier polls--from Newsweek and the LA Times--showing Obama with a double-digit lead were the result of skewed partisan samples and not reflective of real trouble. But they acknowledge that such polls can shape the media narrative in very problematic ways. So from a meta- perspective, this is a big respite from an impending storyline of a McCain disaster.

Three issues, I feel, hurt Barack Obama this past week: the utter arrogance he displayed in making up his own "Presidential seal", his flip-flopping on the new FISA bill and Michelle Obama's very public pandering to leftist constituencies such as appearing on "The View", catering to gay rights groups and going so far as to support the crazy idea that Hillary Obama got beat by her husband due to "sexism" (as opposed to voters just feeling your hubby was a better candidate Michelle?). However, in the end it'll be his inexperience that'll defeat Barack Obama tho, as well it should be.
