Three Dumb Politicians Discriminate Against Restaurants

I swear, the more I see Republicans acting like liberals, the more exasperated I get with both parties.

Mississippi Republicans
W. T. Mayhall, Jr. and John Read joined with Democrat Bobby Shows yesterday to come up with one of the dumbest bills in history. They are proposing a bill that will make it illegal for state-licensed restaurants to serve obese people. That means anybody with a BMI of 30 or above won't be able to eat with everybody else. This is a problem since 30% of the state is considered obese.

The two page document states that any restaurant that breaks the law could get their license pulled.

Click here to read the documents.

So serving fat people could put you in risk of losing your business? So utterly lame and so utterly stupid.

Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and McCain Derangement Syndrome

Shay over at BookerRising excellently points out how the Right is in extreme panic mode (and acting just like the nutroots they claim to despise) over the possibility of a John McCain presidency:
My jaw dropped last night while watching "Hannity & Colmes" on the FOX News Channel. I saw and heard Ann Coulter - who supports former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney for president - say she would support and even campaign for Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) against Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) in the general election if Sen. McCain wins the Republican Party nomination. "She's more conservative that he is," said Ms. Coulter, referring to Sen. Clinton "I think she will be stronger on the war on terrorism...I will campaign for her if it's McCain." Ms. Coulter also claimed that while Sen. Clinton and Sen. McCain are running in different party primaries, "their positions are about [ ] far apart." Hold up, Ann Coulter endorsed Sen. Clinton even though she agrees with Sen. McCain on far more issues?! This is what McCain Derangement Syndrome will do to folks.

For some time, Rush Limbaugh has been on fire on his radio show about Sen. McCain. I also saw a hard-hitting political ad, twice last night on FOX News Channel, by some PAC called Citizens United Victory Fund. The ad claimed that Sen. McCain is as "surprisingly liberal" as Sen. Clinton. Say what?!

Granted, Sen. Clinton and Sen. McCain have some or much agreement on issues such as global warming, no drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, campaign finance reform, closing Gitmo, no torturing of terrorists, being lax on illegal immigration, and how patients are treated in health care. However, many conservatives' claim that Sen. Clinton is at least as or more conservative than Sen. McCain is not factual. Sen. McCain agrees with Ms. Coulter on abortion, affirmative action, the Cuba embargo, death penalty, federal spending, the flag burning amendment, gay rights, guns, health care, the Iraq War, judicial picks, school prayer, school vouchers, Social Security, tax cuts (he did not support President George W. Bush's tax cuts because they didn't include spending cuts), and unions.
See how different their policy positions and voting records are for yourself. Ignoring the facts is what McCain Derangement Syndrome will do to folks.

One can also examine Sen. McCain's most recent ratings - which are from 2006 - from conservative groups like the American Conservative Union (65% conservative rating), the fiscally conservative Club For Growth (76% conservative rating) and National Taxpayers Union (88% conservative rating), and the socially conservative Family Research Council (62% conservative rating). Check out his ratings from liberal groups like Americans for Democratic Action (15% liberal rating), the socially liberal ACLU (33% liberal rating); and the League of Conservation Voters (29% liberal rating). Despite many conservatives' claim that Sen. McCain votes with the Democrats, as of September 2007 he voted with Republican Party 87.3% of the time. Assuming that Ms. Coulter believes that the GOP is always right, how is Sen. McCain's 87%-voting-with-the-GOP-record bad for the Republican Party? Ignoring the facts is what McCain Derangment Syndrome will do to folks.

Sen. Clinton's ratings from conservative groups are 6% conservative from the ACU, 8% from Club For Growth, 17% conservative from the National Taxpayers Union, and 0% conservative from the Family Research Council. Her ratings from liberal groups are 95% liberal from ADA, 83% liberal from the ACLU, and 71% liberal from the LCV. As of September 2007, Sen. Clinton voted with Democratic Party 96.7% of the time.

These ratings tell me that Sen. McCain overall is a moderate-conservative, or somewhat but not firmly in the conservative camp. More specifically, he is fiscal conservative, a social moderate-conservative, but a foreign policy moderate (e.g., he favors the War in Iraq, but also wants to shut down Gitmo and opposes torture). He is also a Republican Party loyalist. These ratings also tell me that Sen. Clinton is firmly in the liberal camp (i.e., not a moderate-liberal), and is a Democratic Party loyalist.

As I've said before, many conservatives are allowing Sen. McCain's 35% liberal ideology to override his 65% conservative ideology. Now conservatives could argue that Sen. McCain is "insufficiently" conservative for their tastes. However, to argue that he is a liberal is just plain ridiculous. I guess I am just too pragmatic and logical to be a partisan. I really don't get these conservatives who are in blind dislike, emotionally-based meltdown mode over Sen. John McCain.

John McCain: Person of the Week

Age: 71

Birthplace: Coco-Solo, Panama Canal Zone (then U.S. Territory)

Claim To Fame: senior U.S. Senator from Arizona

Why He's Person of the Week: for his emergence as the GOP primary front-runner which includes his surprising victory this past week in Florida, a state many so-called "experts" didn't give him a chance to win. Managing to overcome conservatives and right-wing pundits who've bashed him left and right for holding non-conservative positions on issues like campaign finance reform and global warming, McCain's tenacity and ability to appeal to moderates and independents is working wonders in the primaries (mind you, the only primaries that Mitt Romney has won were those where he went virtually unchallenged). And now with endorsements from both Rudy Giuliani and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the McCain momentum doesn't seem to be derailing anytime soon. To think it was only a couple of months ago that McCain's campaign was barely being taken seriously and now even Billary and Barack are already laying claim that he'll be the Republican opponent come election time.

Hey Rudy, Don't Let The Door Hit Ya . . .

I said before that I would do everything in my power to make sure that Rudy Giuliani, a man I despise, would never be President of the United States and barring a miracle, that's officially about to happen. Thank goodness that common sense and principles prevailed over sheer stupidity. It is now my hope that this despicable man is smart enough to see the light and never again grace the political world after his embarrassing attempt to distant his liberal views from a party that holds onto most of what's left concerning moral fortitude in this country.

The people have spoken.

Mr Giuliani, your time here is up. Now please leave, exit right.

"The View" Co-host Sherri Shepherd Has Never Voted

This chick (who once said that she didn't know if the world was flat or not) is really stupid:
On The View this morning, Sherri Shepherd recounted her close call of almost missing the cutoff for registering to vote via absentee ballot for the election in November. (Shepherd resides in New York, but is a California resident.) And apparently this is the first time that Sherri will be voting...ever! Having turned 18 in 1985, the now-41-year-old has missed out on the past five presidential elections because she "never knew the dates or anything." She said it was important to vote in this one, though, because otherwise, she wouldn't have a right to complain on The View about whomever is elected for an entire year. (She probably meant to say "four years.")

How pathetic is it to be in the public eye as a co-host on a show that discusses politics every morning, yet never having voted? More reason why "The View" should never be taken seriously.

Toni Morrison Supports Barack Obama For President

Brilliant writer/idiot liberal activist Toni Morrison, has sold out the Clinton's and jumped on the Obama bandwagon:

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Nobel laureate Toni Morrison, who once dubbed Bill Clinton the "first black president," endorsed Senator Barack Obama on Monday and not Clinton's wife in the White House race.

The African-American author's announcement came the same day Obama was to receive a public endorsement from veteran Democrat Senator Edward Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of former president John F. Kennedy -- assassinated in 1963.

Saying it was the first time she had issued a public endorsement of a presidential candidate, Morrison wrote in a letter to the Illinois senator that neither his racial background nor his rival Hillary Clinton's gender were decisive factors in her decision.

Morrison said she chose to endorse Obama because it might help attract supporters and "this is one of those singular moments that nations ignore at their peril."

"I will not rehearse the multiple crises facing us, but of one thing I am certain: this opportunity for a national evolution (even revolution) will not come again soon, and I am convinced you are the person to capture it," she wrote.

Guess poor Hillary didn't meet the standards of negative Black stereotypes that Morrison used with Bill some years back.

Liberal Blacks Finally Waking Up To Billary

At least that's what you hope was the message blacks outside of South Carolina got from Barack Obama's resounding win in the S.C. primary yesterday:
If South Carolina's Democratic primary is a sign, then the presidential election will be more about ideas than the politics of identity. Race and gender did somewhat sway Saturday's contest, but the top issue for voters was more universal: the economy.

The fact that the winner, Barack Obama, drew votes across both racial and gender lines in a Southern state should be seen more as a result of his message ("change" ) than his skin color or sex. This victory may now help him further in the South, although all voters still need to hear much more from this fresh-faced candidate.

But the point is that Mr. Obama stuck to the high ground during this first primary in the South and didn't play the race card, even though 55 percent of voters in the South Carolina primary were black. And he won decisively despite the efforts of Hillary and Bill Clinton to subtly suggest that race and gender are factors in who can win in November. Both candidates, said the former president during the campaign, "are getting votes, to be sure, because of their race or gender." And one top Clinton adviser even tried to marginalize Obama as "the black candidate," which, if voters were to buy that, would relegate him to the losing history of previous black presidential candidates, such as Jesse Jackson.

For almost two decades now liberal Blacks in America have ignored their own principles to worship the ground Billary walks on. But as many of us black conservatives have seen and noted, support for Billary has done little to change the plights (poverty, crime, lost of family values, education and lack of health-care) that still plague urban America. Consider too the many attempts of racial divisiveness used by Hillary and her camp during their campaign and maybe, just maybe, liberal blacks are finally starting to see the light when it comes to the phony cronies that Bill and Hillary Clinton.
