CNN.com:
If this is true (I refuse to believe anything till I hear it straight from Obama's lips) than it's a bad move by Obama in my opinion. Granted, Senator Obama been stuck between a rock and hard place on selecting who'd be his VP ever since he won the primaries.....frankly, there was never any clear, consensus choice. But Evan Bayh would've been the best choice because unlike Billary or Biden, Bayh would've never been a threat to undermine an Obama presidency. Let's not forget too that as a former governor of Indiana Bayh would've brought executive experience with him, Bayh supported Billary in the primaries (which may've helped Barack win over some of those idiot, disgruntled Billary supporters still looming out there) and unlike Obama, he's shown a willingness to reach across the aisle and work with Republicans.News of Biden's selection came after word that three Democrats who had been considered contenders, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh and Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, had been ruled out. The two Democratic sources who told CNN that Obama had chosen Biden spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The Obama campaign says it plans to announce his vice presidential running mate in a text message Saturday morning. Obama was then expected to appear with his vice-presidential choice at an afternoon rally in Springfield, Illinois.
Biden was long considered a likely choice for vice president, but the buzz surrounding him intensified after he returned earlier this week from a two-day trip to the Republic of Georgia after Russian troops invaded.
Picking Biden will be easy fodder for John McCain as Biden has publicly dissed Barack's lack of experience several times (reinforcing Biden's "loose cannon" rep). Then too is the fact that Biden is almost as liberal as Obama is, he won't help Obama take away votes from McCain and let's not forget this infamous comment on Senator Obama made by Biden just last year:
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."If Obama confirms that his choice for VP is Joe Biden, I'll score it as a huge 'W' for John McCain.
