Oh Shoot, The Economy Is Doing Well!

This bit of news has to be upsetting to your liberal press. Any wonder it's being buried:

Oct. 5 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. employment accelerated in September and revised figures for August showed an unexpected gain, easing recession concerns and making the Federal Reserve less likely to cut interest rates again.

Payrolls grew by 110,000 after an 89,000 increase in the previous month, the Labor Department said today in Washington. The change to the August figure wiped out what had been the first decline in four years, a drop that spurred predictions the six-year expansion would come to end amid the credit-market rout.

Treasury notes fell as traders speculated that the central bank, which reduced borrowing costs by half a point on Sept. 18, will resist lowering them at the next meeting. Analysts said more jobs and rising wages will help consumers weather falling home prices, sustaining the spending that accounts for more than two-thirds of the economy.

``It certainly doesn't look like an economy that's losing momentum,'' said John Ryding, chief U.S. economist at Bear Stearns Cos. in New York. ``The Fed will move to the sidelines or else it'll become much more apparent that the Fed was cutting for financial stability reasons and not the real economy.''

Person of the Week: Rob Marciano

Age:
----

Hometown: ----

Claim To Fame: News and weather anchor for CNN
.

Why He's Person of the Week: For standing up to Al Gore's Global Terrorists this past week. Unlike Gore, Marciano is a real meteorologist, in other words, he's a professional student of weather who holds a bachelor's degree in meteorology from Cornell University and has the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval.

On Thursday, Marciano showed that he's not going to let some has-been, ex-VP tell him about his expertise. So after his network CNN reported that a British judge called Al Gore "An Inconvenient Truth" unfit for schools
"because it is politically biased and contains scientific inaccuracies and sentimental mush," Marciano responded with applause. First declaring "finally, finally," Marciano then commented sarcastically that "the Oscars, they give out awards for fictional films as well." Marciano also said that he objected in particular to "Inconvenient Truth"'s claim that global warming causes stronger hurricanes, noting that the current hurricane season has only been average. “There are definitely some inaccuracies,” Marciano added during the broadcast. “The biggest thing I have a problem with is this implication that Katrina was caused by global warming.”

Thanks to the judge British schools may now have to preface any showing of Gore's film with a warning. Props to Marciano and the judge for showing some guts in the face of liberal global warming propaganda.

Alan Sears Quote Of The Day!

But neither will people of traditional faith say something is okay that God has said is not okay. Nor will they stand idly by while their children are taught to admire, and perhaps experiment with, homosexual behavior. And they won't start editing the Bible to say only what people want to hear. That puts them on a collision course with those pressing the demands of the homosexual political agenda – including, sadly, many in the U.S. Congress. So the Christians have to be silenced. That's where this new "hate crimes" law comes in. It is, in effect, a Congressional gag order on anyone voicing meaningful public opposition to homosexual behavior.

Clarence Thomas Needs To Let Anita Hill Go

Justice Clarence Thomas' has a new memoir out, "My Grandfather's Son", and it's making quiet a bit of noise in the press due to Thomas' comments concerning Anita Hill who he calls a "mediocre employee" amongst other things in his new book. Perhaps that wasn't a wise thing for Justice Thomas to do as of course, since the notorious Senate Conformation Hearings are the only thing she'll ever be known for Hill responds to Thomas in the NYTimes:
ON Oct. 11, 1991, I testified about my experience as an employee of Clarence Thomas’s at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

I stand by my testimony.

Justice Thomas has every right to present himself as he wishes in his new memoir, “My Grandfather’s Son.” He may even be entitled to feel abused by the confirmation process that led to his appointment to the Supreme Court. But I will not stand by silently and allow him, in his anger, to reinvent me.
Personally, while he every right to still be upset at having to go through the whole ordeal, I just think Clarence Thomas needs to let go of whatever anger he has left towards Anita Hill. Hill wasn't as responsible for the "high-tech lynching" Thomas received at the infamous 91' hearings as much as Ted Kennedy and the rest of the liberal Democrats who were trying to make Thomas into another Robert Bork. To be fair Hill didn't contact the liberal terrorists about any alleged sexual harassment, they contacted her. Therefore, at the end of the day Anita Hill was just a tool in a pathetic, high-level campaign of liberal terrorism.

Bottom line, even tho the witchhunt made his vote notably narrow, Thomas was still elected to serve on the highest court in the land. In other words he won. And now some 17 years later and the only people upset with Thomas serving on the Court are liberals. But who cares what they think? Most of America certainkt doesn't as after the hearings were done twice as many Americans believed Thomas' side of the story than Hill's. So while Thomas couldn't possibly write a memoir without recalling some of the most darkest days of his distinguised career, by holding a grudge so many years later against Anita Hill all these years later, he makes himself look angry and sullen.

John Edwards Is An Asshole

John-Boy The Miserable Prick once again shows his true colors by feeding right into the worse case of Bush Derangement Syndrome seen in quite awhile:

On the September 27 edition of The Situation Room, at the end of an interview with Democratic presidential contender John Edwards on his decision to accept federal matching funds for his campaign, CNN reporter Candy Crowley asked if Edwards agreed with "a lot of people" who think Bush is the worst president ever. That's hardly a tough question, unless you worry about disagreeing publicly with Helen Thomas:

CROWLEY: Has George Bush accomplished anything in office that you approve of?

EDWARDS: That takes a little thinking.

He has raised the amount of money that America is contributing to the global fight on AIDS. He has talked -- in fact, he did it at the United Nations a few days ago -- talked about global poverty. I don't think he has done nearly enough, but he has raised it as a serious issue.

I think those are the two things that come to mind. I mean, I think he has been devastating to America and the world as a president, unprecedented. And I think it is very hard to find good things in a bad batch of bad things.

CROWLEY: A lot of people have said he's the worst president in history. Do you agree?

EDWARDS: He is certainly the worst president in my lifetime, and he could be the worst president in history.

John Edwards will never be President of the United States because he's a liar, a fraud and a hypocrite, but what this interview also proves is what a jerk he can be. Even the most ardent Edwards supporter should wonder why Edwards to take such a low blow at a man who won't be running for President. But this is just another example of the idiocy of the Edwards campaign and why they lag in 3rd place: they continue to underestimate the intelligence of the American voter. Yes, most Americans are wary of the Iraq war and they have every right to be, but the Edwards campaign wants us to forget that their guy voted to approve that same war. Yes, many Americans are aware that poverty continues to be a crisis in this country, but they don't want to hear about a supposed "War on Poverty" from a man who gets $400 haircuts while living in a $6million mansion. Then too, there's Edwards latest Hypocritical Oath: suddenly agreeing to take public campaign funds while trying to make it seen that it has nothing to do with his struggling campaign. Besides all that, how dare Edwards accuse GWB of being "worst president" without taking into account Jimmy Carter. Seriously now.

Paris Hilton On Dave Letterman 9/28/07

Better late than never. I just saw this clip of Paris Hilton on Dave Letterman's show this past week. The dumb slut gets visually perturbed as Letterman keeps grilling her about her recent jail stint, as if anybody would want to the skank about anything else. I have so much more respect for Letterman after watching this.

Newt Gingrich Is Not Running For President

Not that he ever really had a chance to win, but now that it's official that Newt's out I say good riddance. With his outrageous statements of late Newt and his huge ego had become a serious blight on President Bush and conservatives in general. Now that talk of his presidential bid turns out to be all about publicity, maybe people will take Gingrich less seriously so he can fade away from public consumption for good:

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) decided Saturday morning not to run for president just as his staff was preparing to launch a website to seek $30 million in pledges, his spokesman told Politico.

Gingrich had planned to seek pledges as part of a three-week exploration without making any formal declaration of candidacy for the Republican nomination — an approach that several Republican leaders said was legally questionable.

The decision will bolster the contention of several key Republicans that Gingrich's repeated flirtation with a presidential run was a publicity stunt designed to keep him in the news and sell his books.

These Republicans said Gingrich has a loyal following and lots of good ideas, but contended that what one called his "on-again, off-again" approach had undermined the seriousness of a potential candidacy.
