Al Gore III Charged With Numerous Felonies

What does it say about a man more concerned about faux-scientific theories than the serious problems going on within his own family? A lot when you consider that Al Gore, III was charged with felonies yesterday as a result of his traffic stop during which marijuna and prescription drugs (Adderall, Vicodin, Xanax and Valium) were found.

He faces two felony counts of drug possession, two misdemeanour counts of drug possession without a prescription and one misdemeanour count of marijuana possession, the district attorney's office said in a statement. Gore also was charged with a traffic infraction for allegedly driving faster than 160 kilometres per hour.

Prosecutors said he could be sentenced to a maximum of three years and eight months in prison if convicted on all counts, though he might be eligible for a drug treatment program instead of prison.

Al Gore: global warming first, family matters second.

The Plames Lose In Court

The witchhunt for Karl Rove's hide keep coming back to bite the Plames in the ass:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A federal judge in Washington is tossing out a lawsuit filed by Valerie Plame. The former CIA operative sued members of the Bush administration over the CIA leak scandal.

She had accused Vice President Cheney and others of conspiring to leak her identity. She said it violated her privacy rights, and that it was an illegal act of retribution for her husband'scriticism of the administration.

Her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, was a prominent critic of the administration's justifications for the war in Iraq.

The judge dismissed the case on jurisdictional grounds, and said he wouldn't express an opinion on the constitutional arguments. The vice president's former chief of staff, Lewis Libby, was convicted of obstructing the investigation into the leak. He was fined and sentenced to two and a-half years in prison, but the prison sentence was commuted by President Bush.

Unfortunately, this bit of news doesn't mean that 'ol Valerie and Richard will be going away anytime soon.

Oprah Winfrey Backs Barack

She is the most powerful woman on the planet. Politicians on both sides of the aisle adore her. Celebrities bow down to her. World-renowned authors worship the ground she walks on. The people refer to her as "Queen" and she's been kind enough to tell us who she's supporting come '08:

WASHINGTON -- Let's see, what does it mean when Oprah Winfrey hosts a glitzy fund-raiser for her Chicago pal, White House hopeful Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), at her stunning California mansion?

"I know this is going to be the hottest ticket in town," said Yolanda Parker, a Los Angeles area supporter on Obama's national finance committee.

Save-the-date e-mails for Winfrey's Sept. 8 splash at her home in Montecito, a wooded community in Santa Barbara near the Pacific Ocean, just started circulating, setting off yet another round of buzz about celebrity fund-raising in the 2008 presidential contest.

"There will be a reception and a concert with a very special guest," said Parker's e-mail to her "list" of friends.

Winfrey is taking a personal interest in lining up the entertainment. Calls are going out to Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx and songstress Beyonce.

To get in on the party, the maximum $2,300-per-individual contribution for the primary is being asked. Special VIP access will be given to people who raise $25,000 (they will be called co-hosts), with top bundlers of $50,000 or more to be listed as "hosts" of the event.

For Barack there is now no excuse but to win.

"None of the Above" Leads GOP Race

Hillary's camp has gotta be loving this:
And the leading Republican presidential candidate is ... none of the above. The latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that nearly a quarter of Republicans are unwilling to back top-tier hopefuls Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, John McCain or Mitt Romney, and no one candidate has emerged as the clear front-runner among Christian evangelicals. Such dissatisfaction underscores the volatility of the 2008 GOP nomination fight.

In sharp contrast, the Democratic race remains static, with Hillary Rodham Clinton holding a sizable lead over Barack Obama. The New York senator, who is white, also outpaces her Illinois counterpart, who is black, among black and Hispanic Democrats, according to a combined sample of two months of polls.

A half year before voting begins, the survey shows the White House race is far more wide open on the Republican side than on the Democratic. The uneven enthusiasm about the fields also is reflected in fundraising in which Democrats outraised Republicans $80 million to $50 million from April through June, continuing a trend from the year's first three months.

"Democrats are reasonably comfortable with the range of choices. The Democratic attitude is that three or four of these guys would be fine," said David Redlawsk, a University of Iowa political scientist. "The Republicans don't have that; particularly among the conservatives there's a real split. They just don't see candidates who reflect their interests and who they also view as viable."

More Republicans have become apathetic about their top options over the past month.
A hefty 23 percent can't or won't say which candidate they would back, a jump from the 14 percent who took a pass in June.

Nepotism Queen Tori Spelling Now A "Priest" Marrying Gays

Nepotism. If anyone were to be an expert on that subject it would be Tori Spelling who parlayed her horrible acting "skills" into a starring role on 90's hit teen drama "Beverly Hills 90210" through her dad, the late Aaron Spelling, who co-produced the show. Tori didnt give a damn about "real" actors and all the hard work they put into their craft, she just knew that her dad was a creative genius and she was going to use him to garner some fame. Ok, so that was then and this is now, "90210" is long over and most of the stars of the show are long gone. But not Tori, who's now a D-list "actress" doing what fading stars do: getting boob jobs, starring in reality shows, doing silly Lifetime flicks and mocking God by becoming a mail-order "priest" with a specialty for "marrying" gay people:
NEW YORK -- Tori Spelling is now available for weddings.

''Yep, that's right. ... Reverend Tori Spelling! I did it last week online and my official certificate is in the mail. I'm so proud,'' the 34-year-old actress said in a posting on the MySpace page she shares with her husband, Dean McDermott.

Spelling officiated at a same-sex union last weekend at Chateau La Rue, the bed-and-breakfast that she and McDermott run in Fallbrook, Calif., on their Oxygen network unscripted series ''Tori & Dean: Inn Love,'' her spokeswoman said Tuesday.

''They wrote their own beautiful vows," Spelling wrote, "and there was so much love surrounding them that there wasn't a dry eye in the driveway!''

Dennis Kucinich Tells Us Something We Already Knew

John Edwards showing a "consistent lack of integrity"? Nah, just can't be.

An angry Dennis Kucinich lashed out at John Edwards on Friday, saying his Democratic rival showed "a consistent lack of integrity" by suggesting fewer candidates should participate in presidential forums and then trying to explain his remark to reporters.

The Ohio congressman's comments came after Edwards and Hillary Rodham Clinton were overheard Thursday after an NAACP forum in Detroit discussing the possibility of limiting the number of participants in presidential forums. Edwards said Friday he wasn't in favor of barring anyone from future gatherings. Rather, he said he wanted to see them separated into two groups of four each, chosen randomly, to spur more serious discussion.
