Here the deal. New York City is the biggest city in the U.S. Despite electing Republican mayors in the last 4 elections, NYC has grown so increasingly liberal that a then-popular incumbent President didnt even bother to campaign here when he was seeking re-election back in '04. The state's governor is a lame-duck Republican who continuously comes off as aloof. Our two senators are narcissstic Bush-bashers and one of them wasn't even born here. The city is run by a very popular liberal mayor who supports and just the other day announced that he would gladly perform gay marriages. Plus, 5 years later the city is involved in a huge mess about what to do with Ground Zero.
Yet, despite all of that, we're supposed to act surprised that the feds are giving us less money for handling terrorism?
