Vinny Testaverde, who was sitting on his couch watching the Jets only 2 weeks ago, will get the headlines, but the game ball for Sunday's victory should go to the Jets’ defense, which held Tampa Bay to twelve points in the a 14-12 victory. Four times Tampa Bay advanced deep into Jets’ territory and four times the defense held them to just a field goal. Also, when will the media give credit to the kind of season John Abraham is having so far?
For his part, Vinny was good enough and inspiring. He completed 13 of 19 for 163 yards. Curtis Martin struggled, but still carried the ball 23 times for a hard-earned 59 yards and scored twice including the pivotal touchdown on a twisting surge into the end zone. Laveranues Coles caught six passes for 89 yards.
At 2-3, the Jets season is far from being lost. Hopefully with Testaverde holding down the fort we can make a serious playoff run.
